The air conditioning, heating unit was examined, tested, then shut down. The cooling fins and coils, once exposed, were clogged to the point of causing the system to freeze up. It became necessary to remove some panels to get to these surfaces. After the bulk of the clog was removed with a wire brush, the fins, etc, were sprayed with a foaming cleaning liquid, then flushed with water. This took  about a hour and half. The computer panels and controls were tested, a new, programmable thermostat installed, and the condensation pump checked out. The system was tested and seemed to work fine, but I was told to try out the work for a few days before making payment. I was told how much it woud be. Things worked out fine, and a few days later George came by to check things out and give us the invoice, which was exactly as he'd earlier stated. He told us to call us if anything went wrong, and to recommend us to our friends if we were happy with his work. We are, and the price seemed reasonable
He recommended we get a more effective filter than the metal, reusable ones, and told us our electronic filter hadn't helped keep anything but the very smallest particles from getting onto the coils and cooling fins. This was obvious to us from all the gunk that had coated them the last ten years. We did not need to have the system recharged with coolant, which was good news.
