After three years of no maintenance because I could not find a recommended certified technician, I tried to clean the glass on the fireplace door and discovered it fell away from the door. It had not been attached correctly by the last service person. I was unable to safely rehang the unit. Searched Angie's List for a reputable repair person and called The Fireplace. Jeffery referred me to Bill Ward who worked on closed or sealed units. (Jeffery services open units.) Mr. Ward returned my call on Tuesday, the day I called, and arrived promptly on Thursday, our agreed upon time. He meticulously cleaned the unit and made adjustments to the logs and blower. He explained the system and the safety features and how dust buildup affects heat output. He was extremely knowledgeable about the brand of insert. The area was thoroughly cleaned upon completion. Mr. Ward worked for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes and charged $75 for cleaning and maintenance. No parts were needed or replaced. After he left, I felt more safe and comfortable with the unit knowing that it would automatically shut down if just one part of the system was not operating properly.. I definitely recommend Mr. Ward and will call him again for continued maintenance. He has many years of experience working with gas powered units of all sizes. (He recommended cleaning every other year rather than every year as stated in the Manuel.)
