We hired Andrew to come and install overhead garage shelving on 11/1/2021, but he cancelled 5 minutes before his scheduled arrival. So, his wife rescheduled for the next day at the same time; however, they were a no-show. We called and she said that she simply forgot to call us and rescheduled yet again for 11/3/2021 at 8:30am. On 11/3/2021, another no-show, we call them, his wife states that he will be there at 1:00pm now. Finally, they both show up and for some odd reason, the wife gets out of the car and begins trying to coax my girlfriend into cancelling the Angie List booking and paying them the exact amount we would have paid Angie's List, but in cash. She states that this is because Angie's List only pays about $50 for this type of work and they would need more to do the job. I found this to be incredibly shady and unprofessional to be asking a client to pay off-the-books. Not only was this very uncomfortable, but there would be no way to guarantee their work, had we illegally paid them and then they decided to leave or do incorrect work. I found their behavior to be very demanding and made both my girlfriend and I to feel very unsafe, as they were in our home. This type of behavior was bizarre and unsettling, as they looked as though they needed quick cash for something illegal. These jokers think they are fast-talkers; however, we weren't born yesterday and did not buy their lies and deception. In the end, they stated that they couldn't do the job and left, but before they did so, the wife begged us not to write a bad review. I'm sorry, but where I come from, this type of behavior, along with making us feel unsafe, and trying to pressure us into paying them under the table, warrants a very bad review so that others can avoid ever hiring these people for any type of work. Angie's List needs to do a better job at background checking their "pros" to avoid having shady people come into the homes of hard-working, paying customers, who just want to get a simple job done.
