AIR QUALITY

Description of Work: Air Quality was supposed to do routine maintenance on my heating and air conditioning.

Description of Work: My air conditioner (swamp cooler) stopped working, so I contacted Angie's list, and selected Air Quality because of a former excellent report and also because of the distance. They came promptly, and determined the unit needed a new part, which they replaced, and they also checked all hoses and the entire unit.

Description of Work: Came, dealt with recalcitrant entry gate, checked out rooftop unit, checked out in house thermostat and gave me options because I said I wanted to upgrade. Went back to shop to get a hose and the thermostat which I had requested. Described availability of business contract for 1 yr service, then went up onto roof taking liquid cleaner and hose to perform that part of the maintenance. Checked out indoor furnace filter. I had just put in a new one so he took measurements for future reference. He offered me the thermostat owners manual to peruse while he was installing it so that I would have some idea of what he was explaining to me. At no time did I feel ANY pressure, nor haste, nor disrespect. Always calm, clear and careful of his work space, both in the house and on his truck. Was attentive as he explained things to me such as checking to see if I was indeed following him. He was prepared to restate or repeat if need be. Again, no sense of judgment, just excellent energy. After I stated that I would like to sign up for the year contract, he indeed brought the handwritten form inside, very legible (unlike my own writing), clearly spelled out as to responsibilities of the contract and its duration.

Description of Work: I love this company. I had a residential central refrigerated a/c outage on a Sunday. I called them Monday morning and they said they would have their tech to my house around 2 pm. He was there like clockwork, 10 min. early in fact. Within 5 minutes of arrival he found a wire inside the outdoor compressor unit that had somehow lost insulation and had short-circuited to the copper low pressure line and had caused a hole to occur through which all the refrigerant had escaped. He used an oxyacetylene torch to weld the hole closed, wrapped the wires to be sure they were insulated and even tied them off, which the original air conditioner installer, another company should have done which would have prevented this situation and evacuated the system, at which time he checked the integrity of his weld and recharged the system with 5.5 lbs. of R-22. A very honest job done by a very thorough and professional tech. Labor charge was for a mere 1 hour. Total bill was $157.50.
