We love this store and the owners, Javier & Rosie Cardenas and all the folks that work in the store. We relocated to NM from TN in May 2013. We sold almost all of our household furniture in TN and brought just the staples and a few favorite pieces of furniture with us. Once we bought a home here we needed everything and most of the items that we brought with us just didn't fit. We began visiting several new, consignment, and antique stores. The folks at A Few Old Things were very friendly. It only took us a few visits for them to recognize us and treat us like we were old friends. Their selection of furniture and decor is vast and varied. They are always negotiable on the price. We bought some antique end table/night stands from them are very pleased with them. I had placed several items; a drop leaf dining table, four chairs, an oak desk and some smaller decorative items on a local posting but had no success in selling them. When we talked to Javier about that he agreed to come and look at the items. I was to the point where I would have given them away to get them out of the house. But Javier was very reasonable in purchasing some of the items outright from me and taking the oak desk on consignment. While he was here he offered some suggestions to my husband on refinishing an item we had purchased from a private owner. His assessment was spot on and after completing the project as he suggested we couldn't be happier with the results. He even hauled the items we sold and consigned with him to his store. The desk recently sold and we were paid more money on consignment than I had originally priced the item to him for buying it himself. He said the desk was worth more than I had offered to sell it to him for and that he could probably get us more money if we just consigned it. Now how often does that happen that someone insists on getting you more money for an item! These folks are just great people and I don't think you'd ever find anyone more honest in their business dealings. We would highly recommend them if you are looking to purchase quality used furniture, antiques or home decor, or if you have items you wish to sell.
Description of Work: We have purchased used furnishings and, sold and consigned items with this antique shop.

I have visited both sites for this store and informed them of my search for an oversized coffee table. They were helpful and responsive to assisting me in my quest. Recently they came across such a piece. Being unable to bring someone with me to put it in my vehicle, staff helped me do so. The items they take for sale are in good to excellent shape. They take in items that are unusual, antiques and artwork. Every member of their staff has always been courteous.
Description of Work: The store has antiques of every variety. Both locations on 4th are nicely filled with items that range from the practical to the unusual. They have areas for consigned sellers with their own displays as well. They will take your name and what you're looking for to contact you if such a piece comes in. They run specials and tend to move items through rather quickly. Both stores are very well managed, not cluttered and dusty like some places can be.
