Angie's list you should be ashamed promoting this business. I was threatened to be sued for defamation of character for giving a bad review from this company, for which I was not happy with Ann Lewis

I was quoted sales tax which I said is not applicable in nj for this type of work. I got an accepted offer which included permits. I returned a signed contract per the offer and paid the deposit. When the work was done I paid the remaining fees including the items below. The permits were neither ordered nor paid for despite many calls and promises by staff by the owner. The owner Phil finally agreed to file and pay for the permits but after repeated calls and emails has not done so. In addition, I was charge another $250 above the quote for a condensate pump after the job ws started and old furnace removed. Finally the condensate piping was installed in such a way to make it difficult for me to maintain the humidifier.

The crew and owner were very professional and did an excellent job installing our new AC system. They did not leave the job until everything checked out. Fred, one of the technicians, made the recommendation to install insulation and leader on our outside pipe going from the airhandler to the condensor so that the job would look professionally done and to ensure the system was protected from the elements.

The technician came to my home opened the furnace and stated that there were several items that needed to be replaced a Inducer motor, door switch, pressure switch and possibly a gas valve. I was told the cost would be approximately 1500.00 to repair. His boss recommended I replace the furnace at a cost of $2800.00 with a ten year warranty. I stated I needed to get a secound opinion and did. The cam out the following day and repaired the furnace at a cost of $175.00. This left me with a bad taste in my mouth especially when Alfano Mechanical charged me a $150.00 fee just for going there. Buyer beware!!

Excellent experience end to end. Professional, honest, on time delivered and completed the project. In fact, I was so impressed, eight other units in my community also used the services to replace the HVAC. ??

To start, 100% satisfied. When everything goes right, it's easy to claim good customer service. For me, good customer service is the reaction and response when things don't quite go as planned. First, they forgot about our scheduled appointment, for an estimate. Oh well, it happens. I thought we would need to reschedule, which I wasn't happy about at all, but instead I received a call 30 minutes later that someone was on the way. No excuses, just a good result. Second, when the actual repairs were started, the work from the tech didn't go right. It may have been a communication issue, considering that I had to pass the description through a third party (my kid) while I was at work, but I was VERY unhappy, and let it be known. They didn't try to throw out false apologies, or complain, or argue the matter, and they didn't try to make excuses. I was told that hopefully someone could get out there later in the afternoon (6 hours later). 15 minutes later, I get a call that the tech is a half hour away and will be at my place in that time. An hour following his arrival? All done, and good to go. It's only been a couple hours since he left, but we tested everything out before he went, and I am confidant we are in good shape, so I feel good about this review. The tech was friendly, knowledgeable, and if I have to use these people again in the future, that is who I want sent out. The office staff? Completely professional and unflappable. And the main person I spoke with (cannot remember the name at the moment. Sorry.) got things done. My last experience with Angi was a nightmare, and this could have been the same. These folks made sure that didn't happen, and I'm grateful for that.

A technician came promptly to analyze the issue. He informed me that the unit is old and the manufacturer (Fedders) no longer make these units and parts might be difficult to get. But he promised to try. Next morning they called me to inform that they cannot find a replacement electronics board, but will keep on looking. A few hours later they called to inform that they cannot find the original board but they can replace it with a different one. They came over later the same day, replaced the board just to find that the fan motor was bad as well. They replaced the motor next day and everything is back to normal. Through all of this, they were very professional and the technician (Sean) was fantastic.

Sean Post was the technician that arrived and he was extremely professional and very knowledgeable. He instantly was able to identify the issue and addressed it accordingly. Prior to him coming here I had another quote from another company that tried to rip me off and charge me 3k for a whole bunch of other work that would not have even addressed the issue. Though I do not know about HVAC's I could sense that the tech was trying to hussle me out of extra money. With Sean coming to my place to the rescue it was indeed confirmed that the other company was trying to rip me off. I do not have much money due to COVID and being layed off and just recently started working so it was important to me to deal with an honest transaction. I appreciate Seans professionalism and would definitely recommend him to anyone in the future. A+ service

Install took over 3 months after authorization, partly due to supplier of Air Handler First Company's shenanigans, not all contractor's fault. However, Phil the owner made too many promises he didn't keep regarding unit delivery and install dates. When unit was finally installed, the A/C worked fine. It wasn't until the beginning of November when I finally turned on the heat. We then found after 2 days there was a water leak into the adjoining condo below us and it was traced by a another company's service technician to our unit. When contacted, Alfano Mechanical sent out a technician only after a few days, forcing us to turn the heat off to stop the leak. I then bought 2 Vornado heaters costing $135. to get through a cold few days. When the technician named Chris D. came early the next week, he traced the leak to a poorly crimped water line. He merely recrimped it, which solved the issue. While here, he also saw the damage in the other condo when the tenants were leaving. He noted the problem he had to fix on his work order so there's a record of him having to recrimp an improperly crimped line. Despite this, the company hasn't so far acknowledged its culpability in the damages to my neighbor's condo. He and I have made many phone calls and have sent numerous emails to Alfano Mechanical which have not been replied to for 4 weeks. Though the repair costs for that other condo were fairly modest, about $600., the company still hasn't owned up to its responsibility for the leak and has made no overatures to that unit owner for compensation. It's looking ever more likely I may well have to pay the unit owner out of my own pocket to appease him then seek to recover the money in small claims court. NOT the way I want to handle it since I may yet need service from this contractor on components under warranty. However, Alfano Mechanical is so far unresponsive to this claim. I will provide a more favorable update if and when they do own up it it. I really hated doing this review because I don't want to ruin my relationship with this contractor but I felt I had no other choice.

Robert Peters from Alfano Mechanical arrived promptly and diagnosed the problem as a bad coil. He showed me how to bypass the automatic system, then informed me that the coil could not be fixed and when he told me that a new automatic water feeder would cost more than $900. I opted to use the manual system for now. He answered my questions, didn't pressure me to get the new part, and I was charged only for the service call.

My 2 year old AC condenser stopped working yesterday. I called the company which installed our AC system. I was told to wait for 5 days with a ridiculous high labor fee. Fortunately Alfano came to rescue. The technician came in this morning, diagnosed and fixed it within 20 minutes. Great guy! Thanks again!

Service completed by: Sean P. PSE&G was called to fix water leaking onto furnace by from A/C. Unit which was covered under their "Worry free" contract. Technician just glanced at unit and stated to wife system was old and drain pan was rusted causing the leak, so it couldn't be repaired. Next day their "closer" shows up and does the same, never examining the unit to actually diagnose problem, then proceeded to write an estimate to replace and install new ac & furnace. Did no work. Didn't try to honor service contract! Week later i go on Angies' list and fill out Central A/C Repair Service Request and get connected with Alfano. They call to schedule a service call for following day . Day of service receive follow up calls informing me when technician will be to the house. Technician arrives, I show him the unit and he does the rest. Long story short in his words on invoice "Customer thought condensate pan possibly leaking, clear condensate and check pan. Pan holding water at this time, test condensate drain- draining well. " Sean, the technician actually looked at the pan and then proceeded to blowout/flush the drain line which PSE&G could have easily done. He flushed out line and water now runs to drain again and not the furnace. Floor has been completely dry since.

These guys are life savers. Our AC was installed by a plumber who used the 18 year old parts to cut costs. When the system failed he refused to come back and fix his work. We called Alfano, they were there the same day to diagnose the problem. They were back the next day with all new parts. They did the proper work and stayed to make sure the system was up and running properly. Neat, knowledgeable and professional. We have new Plumbers!

My tech Joe was polite, punctual, and helpful today and moving forward. The company called me 3 different times to verify and convey information. I run a business, and I know a first class operation when I see one. Alfano Mechanical Inc. was terrific start to finish.

I logged onto Angie’s List in search for a contractor to assist. Upon starting my search, Angie’s List prompted me to answer a few questions to “help” pinpoint the most appropriate contractor for my situation. At no point while responding to the questions was I asked if I wanted to be contacted directly by a contractor. However, within 10 seconds of completing the survey my phone rang 3x. All calls received were from Alfano Mechanical. I was put off by the aggressiveness of the calls, and should’ve followed my gut but ended up explaining the situation with my 2nd Floor AC unit to the person from Alfano Mechanical and they said that they would send someone out the next day (Friday). The technician that arrived was professional and very informative, however he didn’t fix our problem. We told him that the 2nd Floor AC unit wasn’t working properly. He asked us to turn on the unit that wasn’t working properly which we turned on the 2nd Floor Unit so he can identify it outside and in the basement. Little did we know, he proceeded to spend the next 2hrs outside and in our basement trying to fix the 1st Floor unit. He replaced a faulty wire and informed us that the “unit” was fixed. We were charged and paid $300 for this service only to turn on the 2nd Floor Unit and realize about 15 minutes after the technician left that the 2nd Floor wasn’t cooling down the house. We called the technician back and he told us that he didn’t even check if the 2nd Floor Unit was working properly and were told that he couldn’t return until Monday (3 days later). When I called the office to gain a better understanding of what I paid $300 for, the receptionist was extremely unprofessional and told me that WE should’ve corrected the technician on what HE was working on. I’ve never been blamed for a mistake that a contractor has made. How would we know what unit he’s working on in the basement and outside?!? We provided clear instructions upon his arrival and thought by turning on the faulty unit for the technician was enough guidance, but I guess not. They offered to come back on Tuesday (not Monday as initially stated) which we agreed to considering we were in pinch. The technicians that arrived on Tuesday now focused on the 2nd Floor Unit (without further guidance from us) and completed the work within an hour, fixing the initial problem, but they now charged an additional $500 stating that the Freon used to recharge our 2nd Floor AC Unit is costly. At this point we felt completely taken advantage of but paid as we felt we didn’t have another option to timely resolve this issue. Long Story Short - Do Not go with a contractor that cold-calls you, reach out to personal references, do your research and go with your gut. I’m never calling Alfano Mechanical again.

Response was almost instantaneous and repairman can within the hour. He was friendly and courteous. Joe took the time to explain everything he was doing as he checked for the problems. In the end, he was able to fix both units for a very reasonable $266.66.

Very professional. Responsive. Rob shows up the second day i called. After reaching to ceiling to check furnace, he quickly identified the problem within an hour. Changed transformers and contractor( I might misspell here), everything works now. Price is very reasonable as well, especially after the other “professional” company sent some one, took three hours and found nothing, and gave me a quote three times more than Rob charged. I’m satisfied and will call again if I need help for my furnace.

Did not finish job and could not diagnose issue properly. I had to call another company in to fixed their unfinished work. While the service manager was fair the owner would not return my calls or money for a job incomplete.
Response from Alfano Mechanical, Inc.

"We are sorry to see you were not happy with our services. We do apologize that we didn't meet your expectations. We did our best to try and resolve the many issues a 23 year old unit can present. We even sent out our Service Manager to properly access the situation. We tried to do everything we could to save your unit but after changing several parts it was clear you needed a new one. All said and done you were only charged for one hour labor and one significantly reduced part. Again we are sorry we could not work together and come to a resolution."
