advised that Appliance Medic was assigned to the repair and that I would receive a call from them. Because of
the urgency of getting the repair done before Thanksgiving, I called them an spoke to the ?dispatcher? (who was probably the owner) and told him the urgency of the matter and was happy when an appointment was made the very next
day. The mechanic who came diagnosed the problem as a broken heating element and told me to call the office to find out when the new part would be installed. When I called the next day, the same person told me it would take a week to 10 days to order and receive the part and that he had not even ordered it yet (despite the fact that I had told him I needed it by Thanksgiving). I explained that this was not going to work for me and asked if he could expedite ordering the part by ordering it for overnight delivery. To my total surprise, he told me he does not do that and that I would have to wait ?in line?
with his other customers. Even after I pleaded and begged him explaining that I have a refrigerator full of food and a house full of guests coming on Thanksgiving, and offered to pay any additional charges for overnight delivery. I mentioned that if Amazon could deliver a package in one day, he could do that as well. To my surprise and amazement, he wouldn?t change his mind. I then called AIG and explained the situation. Unlike the dispatcher, they were extremely receptive and they immediately place a call to the service and apparently convinced him to cooperate with me because he called me right back and agreed to order the part by overnight if I would pay the additional charge. I agreed and he said the part would be in on Friday. He did call me on Friday and an appointment was made to install the part on Tuesday between 1: 00 PM and 5:00 PM. Needless to say, I was relieved and figured the problem was solved. On Friday, when no one came by 3:00 PM, I called to confirm but got an answering machine. I left a message to call me back to confirm but by 4:45 PM, when no one called, I called again but got the answering machine again. I left a message demanding a return call immediately and that he schedule the installation of the part the next day, Wednesday (one day before Thanksgiving). A few
minutes later, about 5:15 PM I told my wife the situation. Needless to say she was not happy and she
place a call to the company. Amazingly,
the call was answered and she was advised the mechanic would be over by 6:00
PM. Fortunately, the mechanic did come and
installed the part which allowed us to cook a very nice Thanksgiving meal. I never did find out why the mechanic did not
come during the appointment time and why they didn?t have the courtesy to call
me to say he was delayed. A few days
later when AIG called me to follow up on the service, I told them what had occurred,
that I was not satisfied with the service and that I recommended that the
service be removed from their list of service providers. I do not recommend this service and would
never use them again.
