Electrical for Home Addition or Remodel Installation
I hired Derek Clark for a garage-to-living space conversion and it has been the worst contracting experience I?ve ever had. Here?s why:
? Permitting Failures: He submitted the wrong type of permit multiple times. The township denied his applications three separate times, each for missing required details or architectural drawings. Inspectors even told me directly that he ?does not know what he?s doing.?
? Failed Inspections: Work that was done failed inspections. The framing was uneven, with pieces doubled up instead of properly measured and secured. Nothing was bolted correctly to the floor and will have to be completely redone by another contractor.
? Misleading and Dishonest: He told me at one point insulation wasn?t needed (even though he charged me for it on the invoice), lied about when he submitted paperwork, and left incorrect contact information with the township. I only found out the truth by following up myself.

He asked me to give him his money upfront and then never show back up to complete the work I’ve called. I ran into him even. He said he was coming and never did. He can’t be trusted.

Original thought it was a blown fuse. Derek came out the same day and diagnosed the issue and found out what the real issue was. Found out it was a lose connection with one of my outlets. He was very thorough and definitely knows what he is doing. Will definitely use him again for any other electrical issue.

Turns out we had them, but the original installer appears to have wired them incorrectly. Derek came out to the condo, diagnosed the problem, rewired it correctly, tested the circuit, and was gone in almost no time at all. He provided same day service and the outlets are now functioning properly. If a need comes up, I will use him again.
