They were very professional. They were extremely helpful to help lower our energy rates. We did qualify for a bunch of state credits so we were able to finance through a company they work with. I would use them again for service and maintenance. It is not required as part of the installation, but I would definitely use them.

We haven't seen them since they finished the installation and it's been over six months. We went through the winter and started the summer with all of the heat so everything has been working much better than it was last season for sure.

Everything went well, They were prompt, professional and skilled in their trade. The instillation of the insulation when great. The tank-less water heater was a different story. They contracted out the plumbing aspect of the job. Three different plumbers came out to try and preform the service. They filed for the wrong permit, they failed to submit drawings, BTU calculation resulting is failed inspections. I would hire again to do insulation but not plumbing.

These guys have taken the hard sell to a new level. Their aggressive pitch began the moment they walked in the door of our home. Homeowners should avoid The Insulation Heating & Cooling Group, aka, The Insulation Group at all costs. We will never have them back.

Our experience started off by seeing this company at a home show and soon after scheduling a meeting with a salesman in April 2013. A bit of a sales pitch, a little more pressure than we would have liked, however my husband and I felt that the product would work well and they offered a guarantee!, so what’s the harm right?!? The guarantee in the sales pitch is a “30% Energy Savings Pledge” which guarantees to the original purchaser a 1st year savings of at least 30% on energy costs relating to heating and cooling their home. After the sales pitch and initial estimates, we found out our home would only quality for a 22% energy savings pledge, since we had a family room addition built which was on a slab and thus not eligible for the full 30% savings.

We made it a point to track our energy usage and costs for the 12 months leading up to the installation as well as the 12 months post installation. At the 1 year mark, we calculated everything and identified that we were not saving anywhere close to 22% and would be eligible for a refund through the guarantee. We completed the claim paperwork, attached all of the details of our bills and usage, and submitted the claim timely to the address noted on the claim form. Over 2 months passed and we never heard anything, so we decided to follow up. Turns out no one received our claim since the address on the claim form was incorrect and hasn’t been used in “a while”.

Through various phone calls we obtain a new address for the manufacturer Pro Materials Direct to send our claim form and support to. Another 2 months or so go by and they are still not being responsive. Finally, they ask us to re-submit paperwork that they already have, which we did. At this point we are just desperate to receive our pretty hefty refund to we abide which whatever they are asking of us. Another 1-2 months later, and various emails and phone calls asking about status, and we are told that we no longer quality for the Energy Savings Pledge, since our home is Oil heat and the calculations should only be based on our “electric heating and cooling costs”, even though the baseline numbers included our Oil costs. We have exchanged countless emails and phone calls with and have been ignored.18 months post sales/installation and still no refund.

Although we are saving a bit off of our total heating and cooling costs (about 7%), it is nowhere near the 30% or 22% guaranteed, and when compared to the amount we are financing each month, can barely be considered worthwhile.

*Update 11/10/14 - Upon contacting one of the owners of the company directly, he has confirmed that we are due a refund and has promptly escalated this issue to the manufacturer Pro Materials Direct. Apparently it is the manufacturer's guarantee and not the Company's itself, and the Company has since cut ties with this manufacturer. Although I am disappointed with the overall experience and length of time it had taken to achieve my refund, I do appreciate the owner taking the time to resolve this directly (and promptly!) and ensure I receive the refund due.

Response from NJ-PA Energy Group dba The Insulation Group

"In response to members dissatisfaction of how their refund has been handled is absolutely true. It is unfortunate that the manufacturer who offers the guarantee was less than responsive and is one of the reasons we do not currently deal with this manufacturer as it relates to their policies. However, once notified by homeowner-we have corresponded and are seeking a quick resolution to this matter. Regardless of the manufacturer's response, we are committed to making this customer satisfied. Unfortunately, when you are the middle man as it relates to products guarantees and warranties it makes it difficult. I am sure homeowner can attest that once apprised of this situation, we acted in a prompt and courteous manner."

Their work was excellent from start to finish. The workers were professional, competent and personable, as were their salesman, office personnel and supervisor. They thoroughly cleaned up when work was finished. It was a pleasure doing business with this company. I would surely recommend them to anyone needing this type of work.

Tex did a free home consultation. Found we had a lot of problems. Bob & Joe came out and fixed all the problems Tex found. Sam came out to make sure there was an improvement. Everyone that came out was extremely nice, informative, & helpful in answering all my questions.

Everything went well. They were on time and did a good job of installing the insulation. My house is definitely cooler. They did get into a tiff in the attic which I could overhear, but they were always professional when dealing with me directly.

Salesman arrived and performed an energy audit for us, along with a quote for new attic insulation with their Ultramax Super R radiant barrier. Energy audit consisted of a laser-based temperature sensor, we walked around looking for gaps and cracks, bad windows, etc. No airflow measurements or anything like that. While useful to an extent, I was expecting more since it was billed as an and quot;energy auditand quot;. We went into the attic and checked the amount of blown-in insulation we currently have, which was about R10 of cellulose. He laser-measured the attic size, we went downstairs and he explained the Ultramax product.
Similar to another company I have dealt with, this had the flavor of a high-pressure pitch and he was at the house for a good hour or so. We were given information about other radiant barrier products, provided a demonstration on theirs and how it is superior, and provided with a cost in the range of $10,000 for a 20ft x 40ft attic. If we signed now, there was a discount, and if we waited 30 days, there was a higher cost. The excuse for that was more or less the waste of time and gas to come out again if we wanted to purchase. This just doesn't make sense to me as every other reputable company will give a 30-90 day quote with none of this and quot;give us money now for a discountand quot; pricing garbage, and there is no need for another visit. The salesman lied about the product having R10 built-in, as explained in videos by Attic Foil, another company out there. Do your research first! While the product supposedly would pay for itself in a few years, you can do it yourself with Attic Foil for a few hundred dollars. Or, get a reputable contractor from here on Angie's List and I'm sure they can do it for much less.
I would not recommend NJ-PA Energy Group, based on the high-pressure sales tactic and deceptive information about their product.
Response from NJ-PA Energy Group dba The Insulation Group

"In response to member's review of our Company. It is unfortunate that member's experience was less than perfect based on his expectations as outlined. His opinion of what we offer, how we offer it and to further endorse a Company that he has no experience with speaks volumes to what did transpire per his conversation with me when he decided to cancel his installation with us.. However, let the facts speak for themselves. NOTE: I tried contacting member with regard to his review on two occasions, unfortunately he has not responded in kind. First, member speaks of an energy audit not being performed. He is absolutely correct. We do not offer or have ever offered an audit as certified by the BPI. Our literature and marketing states we offer an "energy analysis" which was performed as member attests. Second, he states about a "high" pressure pitch. Nothing could be further from the truth. Business is designed for incentives. member was given a thirty day price which he could have accepted. However, considering the cost of gas, time etc. we offer (if the customer sees the value) a price for doing business today. Many of today's leading company's ie: Home Depot, Costco, Sherwin Williams, Lowes etc. offer time sensitive incentives to do business. We do the same. If member wanted an "estimate" instead of an exact cost we could have left him with the thirty day price to ponder. Next, member eludes to a $10,000 price. Actually, the contracted amount was for $5,991 ( a far cry from $10k) which, in addition to the radiant barrier, we were adding R-19 blow in fiberglass and weather stripping in an attic area which measures 24' X 43' and 6'-2" high.To understand R value is not subject to a you tube video with a competing product as suggested by member. R-value is subjective based on air movement, wind washing,, where it is placed, installed vertically or horizontally etc. with a rafter install, you can achieve up to an R-11 value. As far as the product Attic Foil is concerned, there are DEFINITE distinctions. Let a buyer beware and read the fine print when purchasing any product or service. Remember the old adage, "you get what you pay for!" In all member, maybe the timing was not right or you wanted to attempt this project as a DIY or the value was just not there for you. In any case, I hope you find / found what you are looking for, if I can be of assistance in any matter relating energy efficiency. Please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you, Sam Litwin, President, Member."

They have a 30% energy savings guarantee off the bill. I liked the product. We have definitely seen a difference in the temperature of one floor versus the other since they did the installation. One floor was always super cold or super hot depending on the season. There was a big temperature difference between my floors and now that has been reduced. The whole house is more comfortable now so it was definitely worth installing it. There was a little bit of confusion with the organization and they made some mistakes. After we discussed it they offered to rectify the issue without me having to ask and they did some extra work for me. The men that first showed up didn't have any identification on them or the truck and they were dressed a little shabby, which startled me a little bit. I called the company to verify they were the right people. There was confusion on what they were supposed to do which delayed everything a whole hour. They made better than good in the end. I was supposed to have the job split and we had the okay. They came wanting to do the other job.
