Ancil Millar / Norkia Contruction are thieves! I paid them half the money for the project in advance. They halted work after pouring the concrete slab. The owner agreed to refund my money repeatedly but never did. I got a default judgement in court. I'm still chasing this deadbeat for my money. Don't use this guy unless you want to be robbed.

I needed several repairs done to my home in Jersey City, NJ. I called several places only to not have them get back to me or come take a look at what I needed done and still no one got back to me. This went on for months. Finally a friend referred me to Norkia Home Improvements, he was here the next day and looked everything over and got back to me with a quote a few days later. The job was done within a few days, it was masonry work. What a fantastic job they did, better than I even expected. My girlfriend and I were so pleased that we also had them do 2 more jobs for us.a new kitchen counter and also a new back fence. Again...terrific jobs. I need a few more things done and I will call no one else. Very dependable and amazing work. I could not be more happy. And C is such a nice guy, honest and friendly. I would highly recommend them to anyone without hesitation.

I highly advise anyone considering Norkia home improvements to consult a lawyer before signing anything or just don't even consider hiring these contractors at all. Below is a brief summary of our experiencesite with them and the reason why I would not recommend them to anyone. Our first time hiring a contractor and we're impressed by the first impression as the owner, Ancil Miller, was responsive and had a professional approach. After Ancil collected the first Check, and they collect 50% before the job begins, he disappeared and was not contactable by phone and we experienced real challenges getting him to visit the work site to discuss the work being done. His workers were under his directions and they were assigned to several other projects, so a simple job takes months and months to finish. Additional costs were added but none were discussed prior nor did Ancil or Norkia inform us of any additional cost. Half way through the job, Ancil / norkia demanded us to pay in full for all the work before completing the work. Ancil/Norkia started showing some very concerning aggression towards us when we were trying to discuss the additional costs, and we started feeling very unsafe working with Ancil/Norkia. Due to unfinished work and job abandoned being 50% completed, we incurred a loss of about $3k and lost one of our radiator covers that was taken off site to be painted and was never returned (that's going to cost an additional $400 - $500. Please, save yourselves from these contractors nightmares and go with another contractor who actually has reviews on Angie's list or other websites, like yelp.
