James Maloney & Son Tree Service

i ordered 2 cords of stove wood, which is smaller than firewood($175.00 per cord)
 therefore  more expensive($225.00 per cord) due to extra  labor splitting  the logs.
i received 2 cords of firewood, which i had to split in order to use in  my wood stove.
so i was overcharged by $100.00 in addition to being charged sales tax.
There is no sales tax on firewood in NJ see NJ Publication S&U4 NJ Sales Tax Guide.
The delivery driver(brother of the owner) insisted that firewood is taxable. I relented and paid.
Afterwards I checked to confirm that I was correct and should be reimbursed at least for the sales tax ($31.50)
I tried to call James Maloney many times as I have his cell phone number from previous work that was satisfactory.
He never called back after many attempts to reach him.

Very professional job done in a timely manner and for great price. My property was left so clean it was hard to believe the work was done the same day.

All trees removed and / or pruned were done professionally and with expert skill. Such team work and coordination was amazing to watch. The team removed all  broken off debri, wood was chipped into a machine so and not left in the yard, large trees were removed by another truck and the area was raked and left as was before. I have a lot of flowers and a paver stone driveway which was unaffected by the heavy equipment due to their meticulous preparation before moving the equipment in.
The entire team was courteous and respectful.

They were very responsive to the initial phone call, returning the call on a weekend. They came to give an estimate later in the week.. On the scheduled day, they worked pretty much the whole day, with   4 or 5 workers, and removed the large tree completely, but were not able to complete all the trimming work (it was a big job). They did a beautiful job on the tree, which turned out to be rotten in the middle, and cut the stump nearly to the ground. They were neat, and cleared every bit of debris from the yard. They rescheduled to do the rest of the trimming a week or so later, and again they were very neat, even blowing the roof. All the workers were courteous and professional. We would definitely use them again.

They arrived earlier than arranged so they were ready to start on the scheduled time.  Immediately they went to work. The man in charge said they should be finished by 4pm.  They were finished by 3:35 and the yard was cleaner than when they started.  What a professional crew.  I couldn't be happier.  My neighbors were so impressed they are going to use them.

Arrived on time, price was very reasonable. Did the work agreed upon. Left everything clean. Highly recommended!

Removed two trees.  Work was very good.  Cost was higher than estimate, but within the range of estimates from other providers.

On time - Worked steadily until finished. 4 hours it took. Cleanup was excellent. Very courteous, respectable workers.

The day I called to get a quote someone called me back and set up an appointment.
The next day a guy came over and looked at the property and gave me an estimate.  The price was very reasonable for the amount of work required.  Rather than just trimming some smaller trees, he made recommendations for tree removal that could be covered for slightly more cost.  I was informed that in 3.5 weeks the job could be done.
When I selected them to do the work they called a few days later and informed me when the work would be performed (3 weeks).
A day before the work was to be done I called to confirm and received a call back the same day confirming.
Today the work was done in 5 hours.  Professional crew.  Showed up exactly on time when they said they would.  Very friendly and curteous.  Used alot of heavy equipment, some very impressive.  Used large crane and chipper.  Cleaned up after themselves and left the place better than when they arrived.  Owner was on premises the entire time supervising.
Absolutely a pleasure to hire and have them do the work.  Highly recommend.  Would definitely use again.
Local newspaper has other people praising them as well.  Also, highly rated on Angie's List (for a good reason).

Jim and his crew did a great job at a price that was very reasonable.  There was no mess afterwards and we are very happy with the service.  Would definitely use him in the future.

It was an absolute pleasure to deal with Jim and his crew.  I got 3 bids from local contractors and his was the most competitive as well as the most flexible, since he was willing to work on an hourly basis rather than a fixed price bid.  This allowed me to decide as we progressed what trees I wanted trimmed/removed.  Jim was very helpful in making these decisions - he advised me against doing some of the work even though it would have meant more work/income for him!  
His crew worked efficiently, did excellent work, and cleaned up very carefully.
I was doing landscaping work at the same time, and he sold me mulch at a very good price which my landscaper confirmed was of excellent quality.

The trees/branches were removed while we were at work, and we received an invoice. Easy as pie!

Jim was prompt in his call back from my initial call for service.  Took a little time to get the estimator to the house, but we were able to get Lenny out and he reviewed the entire property to insure that the existing trees were visually healthy.   They came on the scheduled day, and were courteous and workmanlike in their approach.  They were careful to be sure that the house was in no danger, and that the septic field was given wide berth.   The 4 trees were gone in about 4 hours, and they spent another hour cleaning up the yard and driveway.  The crew left the site in better condition then they found it.  I am quite pleased with the work and the team.

Owner came on time with a crew of 4 and worked stedly in the rain to get the job done. I was impressed with the clean up and attention to detail - they were careful of my other plantings.

Excellent, Jim and Tyson came to assess property and tree that might be diseased.  Property was very wet, promised to come back next day which they did.  Had to have additional tree removed, dead limbs and stumps ground and they charged very fairly for these additional items.   I would highly recommend them.  Professional, curtious, fair price and worked with a smile even through the rain! I gave a (c) for responsiveness because it took a long time to get someone out to quote job.

Jim was in contact immediately after phone service returned. They removed the immediate problems and then returned in a timely fashion to continue the clean-up. Good guy with a good company.

Maloney crew was extremely careful and efficient.  They removed the tree and cleaned up the entire area.  I was very impressed with their work and they were very courteous.

Fair price. Courteous and prompt delivery. Added an up charge for delivery but we are only about 15 miles away. Wood is well seasoned but some larger pieces could have been split one more time as they are difficult to burn.

Jim & family were a pleasure to work with and at a fair price. Work not requested in the original proposal was either done as a "throw in" or for a very fair price

They were very skilled at what they were doing and took suggestions and requests well.  Everything I asked them to do was done and they even did things I didn't think of that should have been done.  They were on time and cleaned up very well after themselves.  Would use them again.

We call them every year for firewood, which is delivered on time and just where we need it.  We also had 7 trees taken down since we moved in, requiring crane service, and also one emergency tree cutting from a tree that fell on the house during a storm.  They are puctual and professional.
They are not the cheapest in the area, but they provide the best quality work.

Went very well.  We have used this company before and I find them to be extremely professional as well as having the best equipment. They have a crane and bucket truck which makes it very easy for them to take care of all kinds of trees.  They clean up was expectional, left the yard looking better than my current landscaper!

They were very professional and nice. They were also prompt as they knew it was an emergency situation. They also worked well with our insurance company, and we ended up not having to send the money at all.
