Donald and Nick and the rest of the team were exceptional and experts on this job. When I called their company, they organized everything for me its like a one stop shop. They are pleasant and they don’t hesitate to answer customers questions. I recommend Sterling Company for the job well done.

The entire team was very helpful with the whole process - from coordinating the necessary permits to doing the job and cleaning up, and finally, the proper removal and disposal. The guys took a lot of care to make sure they didn’t make a mess of the property. Plus, the price was super reasonable and I felt that their services added value to my home. Greatly recommend!

My realtor Rupa Kale of Berkshire Hathaway New Providence recommend Stirling Environmental to us . We had a 550 gal decommissioned tank that needed to be removed before the closing of our home. Nick was super nice , efficient and answered all my questions about the process. He explained in detail of what the process and protocol was for the removal. They even filed for our permit which was approved in days ( a miracle for our town) I was contacted to make our removal appointment…. The men showed up 10 minutes early ( 8:30 am)and had the job done by 11am( super nice guys ????), the town inspection was scheduled ahead of time and it was approved by 11:30 am!! Needless to say we were thrilled with the entire experience! THANK YOU NICK and the whole crew at Stirling environmental !! I forgot to mention that the men dug out and replanted my mature landscape when finished. My landscaper didn’t even realize we had the work done :)

They called a couple days ahead to confirm the exact time so I could prepare my own schedule and move my personal stuff out of the way for them. (The only access to the tank was though an interior door in our library, across my basement office, then crouch into the crawlspace) They arrived ready to work at near exactly the minute they promised. They were neat, quick, polite, and efficient. They put down plastic tarps so no nasties were tracked through the house. They got the permit, called for the inspection, secured the town approval and gave me copies of all the closure documents. I did nothing except write the check. No fuss, no muss, all done and over.

The job was done very professionally and well above expectation. Don and Gino both explained the whole process in great details and made us aware of all the possibilities. They took care of the whole process including applying for township permit, getting the property marked with the utilities lines and the removal of the underground tank. The whole team made the whole process look so simple and allayed my fears of so many years. I am very happy with the team and would strongly recommend them to others.

All projects went very well. They manned the projects to keep schedule. Work went as planned for the most part, despite weather in some cases. Project sites were well kept and the team kept me informed of issues and progress. Sterling held estimated costs for projects. I'd call on Sterling in the future and would recommend them to others.

After 3 1/2 years with another contractor who we were required to use by the insurance company and received $100,000 and failed TWICE, Sterling came in with the proper size equipment and finally dug deep enough to remove the contamination so I was able to receive the NFA documentation and sell the property. Donald Ciccaglione and Joe were professional and got the job done. I highly recommend Sterling and can’t say enough for finally ending a nightmare.

Oil Tank was removed. Team was on time, and on price target. They, very helpfully, informed me I could get a compensation from NJ EPA DPT and sent the file I needed to fill up. Parts of the file needs to be filled up by them, the environmental provider. When I reached out to them to obtain the files they needed to fill up, no answer Once, twice....What's the point of encouraging to claim a refund from the EPA, if you're not going to help afterwards. They were quick to take my payment though. Disappointed.

I hired them in December to remove an underground oil tank, they gave me a quote for $1500, I told him I thought the tank was 1000 gallon they said no it was 550. they dug up my front yard and said they couldn’t remove it because it was too close to a fence and air conditioner. they did not remove the tank then charged my credit card $3700 for attempting to remove it and haven’t returned any phone calls or emails and now I’m disputing it with the credit company don’t hire this company they are thieves and not reputable I didn’t hire a company to dig a hole I hired them to remove an oil tank - beware

The worker started work on time that was the only good thing that happened. From there it was all downhill from there. I am a 64-year-old woman. They stated there were holes in the tank and oil leaks into the soil. They gave me a quote of close to 35,000 for remediation. They took a 7soil sample of the soil. But they did not have it tested to see if the soil had been contaminated. They want me to fill out a grant to pay them this money and get my money back for what I pay them. I ask them why will I need a grant if when the soil is tested and it comes back showing no contamination I will not need remediation. Then the owner Donald stated that I will have to pay him 3,700 to write the letter to close the permit. Is this how we do business doing covid-19. I choose this company because of the good score on angie list. I already paid them 2,435.00 and now they want close to 35,000 more.

contacted this company after prior company was unable to complete job for agreed upon price. Sterling took over the project, completed the dig, had the soil tested, submitted readings to State and secured NFA Letter from NJDEP.

It went great. Sterling was very professional.,punctual,attentive to my questions and needs,very neat and organized.Communication was terrific every step of the way. The price was spot on and I felt as if I had no worries with my property being in their hands I highly recommend this company!!!!

The job was done quickly and professionally.

The first problem was that the tank was in the backyard behind a detached garage with only about six feet of clearance between the house and the garage. Sterling was able to use a narrow backhoe to access the backyard and remove the tank. Upon excavating the tank it was discovered that the tank had been drained and filled with sand some 30 years earlier when the heating system was changed to gas. Due to this the tank was filled with sand and contaminated water. Sterling brought in a pump truck to remove the over 150 gallons of water in the tank and then had to remove the remaining sand and sludge into 55 gallon drums for removal. Upon removing the tank it was obvious that it had corrosive holes and thus failed the site inspection by the town. This meant that now a NJDEP case # had to be assigned to the project. Sterling took the required soil samples and back filled the site. From that point Sterling performed all the necessary functions required from sending the soil samples out for testing to the final reports sent to the NJDEP. Luckily the soil samples were within allowable limits and no further soil remediation was required. The location of the tank and space constraints made the job even more difficult. It is well worth it to use a professional company that has been in the business for years and can handle various situations. Also, the tank removal and back filling was all done in one day. I highly recommend Sterling.

Sterling was quick, responsive, thorough, and professional from the very first phone call to the very end. When I told them the house was being sold and I needed to expedite the process of getting a "No Further Action" letter from the NJDEP, they arranged for a courier to hand deliver the Remedial Action Report and I got the NFA letter in less than a week. A+ grades across the board. Top-notch service. Highly satisfied, and would strongly recommend them.

Excellent! Work was done very efficiently and cleanly. Owner easy to work with, price reasonable, Everything taken care of as agreed including obtaining town permit. I did not need to be present when job was done. Owners support staff is also excellent!

We thought this would be a simple oil tank removal (it was decommissioned decades ago) but every step of the way there were surprises and challenges. Some of the challenges were straightforward (some wall paneling had to come down for them to have sufficient access to the tank), and others required more creativity (there was a surprising amount of oil still in the tank and the outlet pipe to the outside of the house had been cemented over and had a deck built over it). Sterling handles the removal and these challenges with the utmost professionalism and care. This was on top there already being a significant delay in the work (having nothing to do with them), which they were very patient with.

Sterling Environmental is absolutely fantastic. They are professional, honest, fair, responsive, and patient. We had a very complicated oil tank removal with the tank encroaching on my neighbor's property. The original tank company I was dealing with was not responsive and left most of the work on my shoulders. After a referral from a neighbor I reached out to Sterling. They took on the job and took care of everything for me in a very timely, professional, and thorough manner. My tank had a leak and Sterling also did my remediation. After my experience with 2 other tank companies, I will never recommend anybody but Sterling. Had we used another company, we never would have gotten to closing. Sterling will get the job done in a thorough, professional, and most importantly, honest, manner.

Very well. They were prompt and efficient. They contacted the town for the permit and to have town inspect the tank and surrounding area. They were done in approx. 2 hours. I would definitely recommend them!
