"I don't think that it matters what you do for some people. They will always be unhappy and dissatisfied. This customer wanted a lot of free technical support. He also wanted free lessons on how to use a computer. I get many customers who think that when they buy a computer from me, that they are entitled to free lessons and unlimited free technical support. Many of them take it the wrong way when I let them know that I cannot spend the time that they will need to assist them. Time is money. Ask any lawyer. They will not talk to you unless they are getting paid. In order for me to keep my pricing down and competitive, I have to ration my time. If I spent the time with some customers that they want, I would be making between $5 and $10 per hour. I cannot support a property that has a $20,000 per tax bill working like that. If people want free assistance, then they can go talk to a high school kid who is making minimum wage and does not know what he is talking about or converse with someone from India for technical support who they cannot understand and is only making $0.25 per hour. If you want to talk to someone who really knows what they are doing and talking about, then you come see an owner operator like me. I am always happy to briefly talk to and assist customers with good questions. But when I see a customer asking basic questions that they should already understand and I realize that I am going to be starting from ground level with them, then yes, I back away. Fortunately, I have many more happy and satisfied customers than ones like this. That is why I have been operating at this location for over 14 years and outlasted most other small computer shops."
"Thank you Vito for submitting an Angie's List review for my business. I would like to add to this review more details of the work that was done. The computer's hard drive was failing so we tried to backup it up by cloning it to another hard drive. However, the customer's hard drive was too far gone to backup and save. So I pulled his failed 320Gb hard drive and replaced it (charged $50 for the replacement hard drive). Then loaded the Windows 7 operating system onto the new hard drive with all the necessary drivers. Charge $75 for the labor. Total cost for the repair job was $125. Computer was brought in to be repaired on Wednesday Sept. 10, 2014. Repaired within 1-2 business days. Customer picked up computer on Monday Sept 15, 2014. I am an owner operated business and the sole employee. So I am not open on weekends and if I am not in the office, we are closed. Maybe this is why Vito graded me with a B for Punctuality. I could hire employees, but then I would have to charge a lot more to my customers. Thank you again Vito for submitting an honest Angie's List review."
"I have been in this business for over 20 years and I have always taken the approach of taken good care of my good customers so that they return again in the future. Repeat business is the only way that this business could have survived this long."
