LARRY'S A 1 AUTO REPAIR

Continue to use Larry's A1 Auto Shop for all our family's four cars since 2008. In addition to doing all our required maintenance and mechanical repairs have had multiple issues and nuisances come up with my cars that auto dealerships either can't figure out or want an exorbitant price to try to tackle and repair. Repairs at Larry's are done quickly and correctly. Price paid is always fair and reasonable. This shop is the epitome of a local 'Mom and Pop' business which is a vanishing breed in New Jersey. Larry makes getting our cars repaired a painless and friendly experience.

All issues resolved, Larry is the most honest mechanic I've ever dealt with.

Have continued to use Larry's shop for the routine maintenance of our four family cars as well as the usual things that continually need to be replaced/repaired with four used cars who are getting on in years. Always friendly and reliable, explains everything which will be done to the vehicles as well as dealing with the repairs in a timely and reliable fashion. Don't think that in ten years we've had to return one of our vehicles for additional work after Larry fixed a problem for us. Very pleased to continue to utilize his business for all our automotive issues. This business is highly recommended.

Been to Larry's A1 Auto Repair after purchasing a used Lexus for my daughter which had 120,000 miles on the vehicle. He inspected the vehicle for us to insure there were no hidden major issues with a well used previously owned car. Felt more confident that wasn't purchasing a "lemon" after having it thoroughly looked over. Also found several issues with bulbs not functioning properly and that needed replacement. Trouble shot issues with side view power mirrors not adjusting properly. Determined that there might be a power steering leak and dealt with this issue as well. All in all another great experience. Continue to have my wife's and I's two cars serviced at his shop regularly as well as my two daughter's vehicles. Always thorough and ethical in all his business practices. Business is the epitome of the benefits of using a small privately owned automotive repair shop rather than large dealership and 'corporate type' repair establishments.

Had gone first to my local dealership where I purchased my Sienna. They first quoted a price of about $730 and said it was ready to pick up after they replaced a broken latch. When I went to pick up the vehicle was told that the door was still not working properly and it also needed a new door actuator. They now quoted a new cost of $2200 and said that was the only way the door could be made to open and close. My Sienna has 176,000 miles on it and cost of this repair would be the book value of the minivan. Disgusted I asked Larry to see if he could do something to get it to work. He looked at the problem and determined a way to convert it to manually opening and closing. Wanted to do this for free as we were longtime customers. Had to practically beg him to accept our small payment. Can't tell you how my two daughters, wife and I am impressed with Larry's quality of work and honesty. You can't find a better small business owner like Larry anywhere.

Was nice enough to look at the car and list repairs that need to be completed. Nothing urgent so work can be done in increments. Great news for a nursing student about to start the final semester of school.

I use Larry's A1 for all the automotive needs on my family's three vehicles since moving to southern New Jersey in 2007. My Lexus RX 400 was side swiped on the Garden State Parkway by another driver the night before. Needed car inspected to insure that there was no hidden damage to my SUV. As usual Larry fit me into his busy schedule and did a complete and comprehensive  inspection and found the time to do a needed Oil Change as well. Saved me a ton of aggravation and money. Always performs thorough and ethical work. You can't find a better automotive shop in southern New Jersey.

Called at last minute to get our family Minivan repaired right before a trip to Massachusetts. Larry managed to squeeze us in his usually busy daily schedule. Had the work done by day's end and car drove beautifully since we had all this work done.As usual performs great quality, timely and reliable work on all our three family vehicles. Can't find a better mechanic to trust your car to in southern New Jersey. As always I recommend him to all our  friends and other car owners without reservation. You will not be disappointed!

Owner personally inspected & test drove vehicle.  Went above and beyond what he had to do.  Wouldn't even accept any form of payment.  Would use them again in a heart beat.

As usual, our experience with A1 Auto Repair went even better than expected. Wife was in accident and he even took our care to a Body Repair shop for a free estimate on his own time. All the work was done on time and completely explained to us before it was performed. This gentleman is one of the most honest and competent auto repair specialists in Southern New Jersey. He has a small shop and a 'Mom and 'Pop' operation and your service will definitely leave provide you with personal attention and complete satisfaction. His shop is one of the 'best kept secrets' in South Jersey.

Sooner or later my cars will need some sort of servicing. Guess where I'll be taking them?

I have been using A1 for over 15 years and unlike the Easter Bunny there is such a thing as an honest mechanic. Larry and his crew are in it for the long term and want you to come back. They are pro's and can do anything when it comes to your car. I recommend them 100% and no I am not related to them, I just trust them.

After reading all the great reviews of Larry's, we decided to try them.  We found them to be friendly and their work was excellent.  We will use them again.

Larry did an outstanding job. He took my car quickly, informed me of the issues with the wheels as he uncovered them, showed me the damage while the car was on the lift, informed me of the cost and provided lower cost alternatives (dealer parts vs. after market parts - lower in price but essentially identical), and showed me all of the parts he replaced and explained the issues with them. This process is a good example of great customer service. Larry provides the customer with great reliable information about the repair issue and walks the customer through the decision making process with confidence. Great experiences. Larry will be my family's mechanic going forward. I have already recommended him several times since to friends and neighbors.

As usual had a pleasant and efficient experience with my auto service. Had to swap out my winter tires which are studded to prevent myself getting a ticket since winter was over. Larry said to bring it over and he'd service me despite having a busy Saturday schedule. Couldn't ask for a better and honest business man and mechanic. You can't go wrong with A-1 Auto!

I have not had much luck in the past with honest auto mechanics. Since I am a single mother with minimal knowledge about cars, I am always apprehensive when I have to take my car for repairs. Larry was kind and honest. He explained what was wrong and what he had done to fix it. The low cost was a surprise too.

Lost my heat in the car on a Thursday night ? temps in the mid 20s and I called Larry on Friday morning. He said come by Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Between 4-5 on Friday, was in and out with heat back in the car ? my feet thank you. Supply and/or Return lines to the Heater Core in the firewall were blocked. Charged me $60.
As I was leaving, I mentioned that I had been having a problem with my right turn signal for 4 years ? had to operate it manually whenever my headlights were on. I had spoken to several mechanics and GM service managers over the years but no luck. Larry suggested that there was a short in the passenger headlight circuitry, ordered the new headlight, put it in on Monday afternoon and problem SOLVED!!!
He charged me $135 for the part and no labor ? took him 10 minutes to pop it in. Had I tried this myself, and it wasn?t the headlight causing the problem, I could not have returned the part. Because he ordered it, he could return the part and it would have cost me nothing.
We are now working on finding my oil leak ? while not excessive, I?m tired of periodically cleaning up the spill on the garage floor. Just waiting on a 3 ?day stretch without rain/snow, because he gave me a little bottle of fluorescent additive to put in my oil, run the car for 3 days and then with his special goggles will be able to isolate the location and fix it.
I recently moved to southern NJ and found Larry on Angie?s List. While you feel reasonably comfortable using somebody on the list with good reviews, you still have to whittle it down to one. Based on the reviews from 10/19/12 and 8/20/12, I made my choice. And I can only add to their recommendations. I now have someone to trust to take care of my car and can also tell my wife who to call if she has a problem with her car whenever I?m out of town. To have someone you feel is looking out for your best interests is a peace of mind that is hard to find.
