MOVE RITE VAN LINES

Move Rite is one of the worst service providers I have experienced in recent memory. I hired them to move my furniture and large belongings from my 4BR home in NJ to a new residence in another state. I have had 6 relocations in the past so I am experienced at hiring and working with professional moving firms. Things started out well. The team on the NJ end was good and did a nice job. The destination end was horrible. Typical of many moving firms, the truck driver from the loading end in NJ drove the truck to the new location and worked with a local partner moving company for unloading at the destination. Move Rite claimed, and I was very specific in asking during my evaluation with them and each of the vendors I considered, that the "crew at the destination end would be the same in size and quality...the same number of people and all experienced movers." Well, that just wasn't the case. They had 4 people at the orientation, and only 3 at the destination. At the destination, it was the truck driver (great guy, did an excellent job, and disaster was only avoided because he was so good), and 2 people who openly stated that "they had never done a move before." Even to the untrained eye (nevermind my experience with movers in the past), you could tell these guys weren't up to the task. Although polite, one was a young kid who didn't look like he could lift much, the other was clearly close to retirement. I was honestly worried both would hurt themselves. Moving and loading on a hot, humid day is difficult work. There is a science to lifting and moving...good ones have strength, stamina, and know all the techniques for doing it right. I found myself explaining to these 2 day labors (I can't even call them movers) "how to do it" as I watched them drop, drag, and knock over my belongings. Even the truck driver was in a state of shock. A five hour unload took over 10 hours. But it gets much worse. As I started the claim process for the items that were damaged (amazingly only a few hundred dollars worth), the company just ABSOLUTELY IGNORED every call, every email. I was polite and reasonable every time I tried to communicate. The service person even admitted they were avoiding me. What type of service is that? Totally irresponsible and I had only a small claim. Of course with all movers, you need to pay up front in or they won't take your belongings off the truck. So the customer is in a difficult position. It just amazes me that any company in this day and age can just completely ignore a customer service claim. My advice to anyone looking for a mover...DON'T EVER, EVER USE MOVE RITE!!!
