Mike is thorough and very detailed about the observations which matter to a buyer while purchasing a house. The report is easy to comprehend and understand for a layperson. In my case he made quite a few exceptions by making multiple visits as certain things were not ready for inspection.

So Mike and the Gang were able to come in on a moments notice (actually getting to the appointment 20 mins early). They were able to find a plethora of problems I never would have noticed and saved me from a life time of headaches. Would definitely use them again.

Excellent! Cornerstone was recommended by my agent. Mike from Cornerstone was great. He was able to answer my questions or explain things to me as a first time home buyer in an easy to understand way. My wife even got the report in a very timely manner.

I've been working with Michael and Cornerstone for nearly 12 years and my clients have always been happy. Today I had the opportunity to be a client for my own home inspection. Michael was professional and thorough as always. I highly recommend them for your next home inspection!

I'm a first time buyer, so wasn't really sure (outside of researching online) what was entailed in a home inspection. A friend recommended Cornerstone and I was very happy I contracted them. Mike, one of the owner's, was so incredibly thorough, and explained what he was doing and what he was looking for whenever I asked. What do I mean by thorough? He opened every single window in the house - except the one painted shut, which was good to know! I never would have known that sometimes if a window looks foggy, it's not necessarily dirty -- it's because there is condensation between the double panes of glass showing that the seal is not longer good. Fortunately, he did not find any major problems, but I now have an exhaustive list of "things to consider" for future improvement projects (yea?!?). I also greatly appreciated that the radon and termite inspection was included in the price upfront - I've heard of other firms (that online research I did!) referring to these as additional items AFTER the price has been given.

The report was accurate, included pictures and descriptions of the home and its deficiencies. The report writings were easy to read and concise, the photos helped us understand. I really felt like Mike held our hand the entire time pointing out problems and issues we would never have seen or noticed. Mike was courteous and went above and beyond the normal home inspection. Really made us feel comfortable. I was very pleased with the quick turn around time for the report. It was emailed to me, my realtor and attorney that evening. I am referring Cornerstone to my brother who is buying a home.

My realtor referred me to Cornerstone Home Inspection company, I was a little leery but coincidentally my brother in law also used them last year and said they were thorough. He has since moved into his house and found the report to be very accurate and has had no issues. I felt confident when calling the company, The owner explained what the inspection would entail. He gave me options for additional inspections. Some of which I didn't have performed but since the home was older, I decided to have the structural inspection and the Level 2 fireplace chimney inspection. The company arrived and greeted me at the property. The inspection went well. Some issues with electrical wiring came up, an older roof and heating system. There was also a cracked roof rafter which was discovered when the inspector got into the smallest of areas that I would never have seen and don't think some inspectors would have been able to access. The level 2 fireplace chimney inspection revealed and unsafe condition with the fireplace. Cornerstone recommended a new liner because it was badly deteriorated. A link was provided with a video of the problem so it was easy for us to show a repair company the issues. It turns out Cornerstone saved us $5000. I am very happy with their professionalism and the promptness, not to mention I felt they had me in their best interest.

They did and inside and outside inspection. The outside included the roof, driveway, decking and siding. Inside they evaluated the plumbing, air conditioning, heating and electrical system. They were in every area of the house included the attic and basement. They were courteous and informative. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends.

Excellent. I have used this company for two home inspections now, and would recommend them to anybody in my family. They were early for the appointment, very professional, explained what the inspection would entail, and took the time out to answer all of my questions. The first home that I bought was a short sale in disrepair, and they steered me in the right direction. My current home was flipped by the previous owner. They found many areas where the previous owner skimped out on repairs, which helped me to recover money at closing from the seller. Overall, I am very happy with this company. I will absolutely use them again in the future.

Through his inspection, Michael found that the property had numerous items that needed to be addressed including wood damage due to termites, minor structural sill damage and other items. I don't believe that other inspectors would have caught all of the things that Michael noted in his report. He has great attention to detail!
He also provided guidance around which items might be "deal killers", and which items were not major issues. This was useful to us in our negotiations with the previous homeowners.
His work surpassed our expectations, and he was timely, responsive and very pleasant to work with!
If we make another home purchase, we will definitely be calling him again.

The inspection went perfectly. The entire staff was courteous and polite when I first contacted them for the home inspection. They offered plenty of availability. They arrived on time, went through all the areas of my home and thoroughly checked everything. Very efficient. Seemed to genuinely care about me and the home I was about to purchase. They made notes of everything and provided me with a detailed report of the findings. Then the owner called me to go over the report so that I understood it and pointed out areas I should bring up with the closing of the home. Very professional, and detailed. I am relieved I found this company to help me with an important part of my life. And the bonus is that it was for an incredible price. I will definitely be recommending this company to anyone I meet who needs a home inspection.

We had an amazing and easy experience with Cornerstone Home Inspection. When I called to book our home inspection Mike provided all of the expectations about what was and was not included in a home inspection. After walking through a little information about our new house he provided us with a quote. I was impressed to see Mike already at the home on the day of inspection preforming the external inspection. When we approached he took the time to explain what he had done, and what he had found. He walked through the house pointing out things of minor concern and in one case a major concern. We were extremely satisfied with his approach and his level of knowledge surrounding the house. We promptly received a very detailed report that highlighted everything discussed during the inspection itself. I thought the customer service, the thoroughness of the inspection and the follow up was outstanding. We would highly recommend Cornerstone Home Inspection to all of our friends and family.

Stay away. This gentleman talks a good game. But when he shows up, all he does is try to cover his butt. He is very careful to ONLY give his opinion on things that the New Jersey state law tells him he must do and is very quick to quote what he will not do. But he is useless and his inspection is useless in knowing what problems exist in a house.
I purchased recently purchased a house that Cornerstone inspected. After moving in, I had problems with the heating system. I had the heating service come, just to tell me that the system was (1) the original system that was installed with the house and was already past its expected service life and (2) it was severely undersized for area it was heating because it had taken on heating the basement after it was finished without an upgrade. I complained to Cornerstone that his inspection did not make any mention of this being the original heating system, and, in fact, the area on his inspection form where there is a box for the estimated age of the system is left blank. He then trotted out his NJ Laws page and quotes the law and that he is not responsible for telling us how much time the heating system had left. I say, fine, then what good is the inspection?? Estimated cost to replace the heating system is over $15,000.
I then found out that the Sub-Zero refrigerator that he checked off as working was similarly almost 20 years old (not something we knew at the time). Replacement cost? $12,000. Then, today we found out that the water conditioning system (that he checked off as "Present" and "Plumbing Hooked up" was not tested. What good is that? We find out it was never working, that the previous owner had been told it was not working, and it would be $3000 to replace.
So please tell me what good is his inspection if these expensive items are not reviewed, tested and covered? He sends the law with EVERYTHING and of course, the law is in mumbo-jumbo so you cannot tell what he will do or won't do.
But basically, I paid him to give me a false sense of security that I would not be walking into a number of surprises with the house. The inspection is not worth the paper it is printed on - and since it was sent electronically, that is not much!!

Response from Cornerstone Home Inspections
"Cornerstone Home Inspection Company performs approximately 500 to 600 inspections a year, has been in business for over 15 years. I personally have been inspecting buildings for over 35 years and have never had a negative review rather the highest “A” ratings. We strive to provide the best inspection possible, meticulously following the Standards and Practices that New Jersey has set up for Licensed Home Inspectors. These guidelines are the strictest in the country exceeding the ASHI guidelines which are the National Standard. All Licensed NJ Home Inspectors follow these same standards. I am sympathetic towards my client and am sorry that Louis B is clearly unhappy, but this is a matter of not understanding the scope of the inspection and therefore having unrealistic expectations. Please look at our reviews on Angie’s list, ALL of our other customers are “extremely satisfied” with our services."

It was torrential rain and there was a ton of traffic as a result, so both the realtor and I were late. The inspector, however, was early. He began inspecting the exterior as weather permitted. My father happened to be there and he kept trying to find things he thought the inspector would miss. The inspector caught EVERYTHING. From rotted duckboards to evidence of mice and carpenter ants to loose tiles and evidence of a flood in the basement. He also managed to be very patient even though my parents were being a bit annoying.
More important than the inspection itself, the write up was excellent and timely (provided same day). The format was neat; he used a computer for notes. Nothing handwritten. His wording conveyed the seriousness of Certain issues that the current homeowners Would have otherwise written off as minor-such as an uneven walkway, a garage attic without a fireproof door on it, etc. Bottom line I think he helped us get more money out of the current homeowners than we would have otherwise.
This was a 2500 sqft colonial and we took a little over 2.5 hours to inspect -I felt he was efficient yet thorough.

This was a good experience overall. Our B grade is a little low. It would actually be a B+ if we had the option. The inspector was there early. He was very professional and knowledgeable. The inspection was very thorough and well explained. The only quip we had was that the report was a laundry list of issues but there was no sense of priority to the various issues that were discovered. This made it difficult for us to distinguish between major (potentially expensive) issues and minor ones. As concerned home buyers, this made everything feel major and forced us to speculate a bit as to what we needed to negotiate. As a result, we found the report to be less useful than it could have been.
Response from Cornerstone Home Inspections
"We thank our client for their input. We strive to perform quality inspections at a reasonable price. We also look at the feedback from our clients in an effort to satisfy them and future customers. The subject of categorizing the severity of issues has come up before. We believe that is a disservice to our clients as it may limit other comments made that were labeled "minor" making these issues insignificant when in a negotiation. Therefore we have decided to let our clients be the judge of what they consider important by not labeling them in our report."

The home inspector was extremely nice and took his time going through the house. He allowed my husband to walk around with him and explained each and every step, as well as any potential problems. We are first time homebuyers and he was very willing to answer all of our questions and give us his opinion. I would definitely recommend them to other buyers.

The price was very competitive. They were courteous, professional, and did not rush through the inspection. They were very timely in getting the report back to us. They were very easy to schedule the inspection and the ongoing communication was excellent as well.
