Great Precision Handyman

I have used and will be using Philos for my rental house in Ringwood, NJ on a number of varied tasks. I met him while I was visiting the rental house during the summer and using him now that I am back home in California. He is a great communicator, very friendly and knowledgeable on a number of subjects. It's so helpful to have someone like him to rely on from such a great distance.

I hired precision handyman and was truly disappointed. I felt that I was taken advantage. He came to my house looked at the work site and did all of the measurements and send me an estimate. We agree and set a day for him to come and start the work. He quote me ~$695 timeframe 3 weeks. He came 15 minutes late and first thing he asked me is to use my bathroom! Then, he started to look at the work site, which he saw already when he came by and gave me the estimate. Started to ask me where are the bullnose, when he knew he was working with glass tile (subway style), they don't require bullnose The customer can add a stainless steel edge or not. I opted not. Then he said that the thinset was going to show at the edge. I told him that he can put tape up to the edge where the glass tile would end so the thinset would not show. Then he start to ask me for solutions, when he was the vendor and should provide them himself. Finally, he said, the marble tile might not hold with the thinset. He said "I'm looking in the internet and many people in the DIY say it might not hold", he asking instructions from the Internet! I can do that myself. He insinuate that the tile may be ruin. At that point I was so Agravated at loosing a day of work and this guy was full of excuses! I asked him how many jobs he had done in the past and he said "only the job that I have done at my house". I told him that this was not going to work, but his contract says that after 3 days the contract cannot be cancel. So I told him that I will give him $80 for his time. After talking to my relatives and friend, they told me I should not have given him anything, since it looks like that's his MO. Set the day, knowing he is not able to do the job, coming to the job site aggravate the client so the client gets tired of his excuses and then charge for something that he was not able to do. Please take this vendor from your website. He is not a professional just an apprentice that has done odd jobs in his house.

Philos is a great guy and a great handyman. Cannot go wrong. He completed 2 projects for me on a fast deadline and did it as promised and perfectly. I will use him again and again and I will recommend him every chance I get.
