Eric Hunter AKA SHORE AREA BUILDERS was recommended by a trusted friend. I also called another friend of my friend for a reference which was also good. My mistake was trusting he had my best interest at heart because of that friendship. I was assigned the task of rebuilding my moms house after sandy. We had some damage to the outside walls but most was inside with mold. Since we needed to fix the roof and siding I decided to do the windows too. Before we hired Eric a friend of mine cleaned out a hole in the side of the house and sealed it with Tyvec paper. The only Tyvec paper that was used was used by us NOT BY ERIC HUNTER and in fact one of his workers took out of my garage the roll of Tyvec paper and after repeatedly asking him to return it, he never did!! Eric Hunter was eventually fired. You can read are all the details of this most horrible experience below!! Eric was told by me many times that the MOST IMPORTANT thing to me was ENERGY EFFICIENCY! He was hired to put in new vinyl siding and new energy efficient windows. Here is where I got screwed, BIG TIME!! The windows he put in were not the windows I chose from the catalog. I found out they were the EXACT copy of the windows and were in fact named that! "EXACT". My 60 year old house was warmer BEFORE I changed the windows and I couldn't understand why that was until I taped tissue to the top of the windows and watched the wind blowing in. After Eric was fired, the windows were removed and replaced with a better quality window from a different company and a new contractor hired to finish the inside of the house HOWEVER. What I didn't know then and actually found out today ( 2 years later) was when ERIC HUNTER contracted the siding people. He never told them to insulate my home.. MY HOME (I WAS TOLD TODAY) HAS A .. 0 - R VALUE. Eric Hunter instructed the siding company not to WRAP THE HOUSE IN TYVEC PAPER or use tar paper and chose for my home the cheapest thinnest foam board possible. So thin in fact it practically disintegrated in my hand this morning when we took it off from under the siding to see what sort of insulation was under the siding! My house is colder now on the inside then the temperature outside and I ( THINKING I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT) wanted to know why? Now I know! Eric Hunter makes his profit by using the cheapest worst material possible. I trusted him because he was recommended by a mutual friend and thought he would do right by me. I cannot stress enough how much I communicated the energy efficiency part of the rebuild. Boy did I get screwed. Now someday I will have to insulated it another way. Probably through foam insulation. All I know is, I paid him $12,000.00 for NOTHING!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ERIC HUNTER AND I WOULD NOT CALL HIM HONEST.. I also would not trust his references! He did a bait and switch with the windows and now I have new vinyl siding with NO INSULATION. 00000 R VALUE.. GREAT!!!! NEW ROOF, NEW WINDOWS,NEW SIDING AND THE SIDING job made my house colder than ever!! DO NOT USE HIM!!!!!! I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM!! What you see is FOR SURE not what you're going to get!!!!
