Purchased a Fujitsu split duct unit. Sales and installation went well. General maintenance for the first couple of years seemed ok. Requested service and was advised to change air filters. Turned out that there was a sensor issue. It cost $1K and I contested the charge. Ended paying less the initial service call (why pay for a check up if the unit wasn't actually checked?). When I called for a check up the following season I was told that they no longer serviced my area which is not true.

Tech personnel was on time and did a good job. The new duct seems to be working well but not sure if the duct is placed correctly or needs an additional one as the room is still on the chilling side.

An outstanding, professional, honest company.  I called on a Sunday afternoon as my central air had stopped working.----hoping that 1 of their technicians could come to my house the following day.  They asked if it was an emergency and I said no it could certainly wait till regular business hours.  In less than 30 minutes, Mark called back and said he was on his way.  He was very professional and knowledgeable.  He replaced the capacitor and cleaned out the area and  my a/c was working again. He also took the time to explain how we could prevent this from happening again in the future.
In less than 2 hours of my service call, my a/c was completely fixed

This provider made two service calls. On one, they replaced the coolant in my air conditioner. On the second call, they replaced the capacitor. Neither resolved the problem. Only after performing this combined $500 of work did they advise that the unit be replaced because it was at the end of its life. This advice should have been given before these useless steps were performed. I was nickle and dimed.

I waited for it to get cold to write this review. Right now it's close to zero degrees outside and my condo is at a perfect 68 degrees. Five years ago I had another company replace my heating and cooling system and since then I have had problems maintaining any temperature in my home. The system was cycling on and off. I had tried multiple times to have them come back to fix the problem but each time I was given another excuse. I finally decided to give DB Heating and Cooling a try. I was able to schedule my appointment online and that was quickly confirmed via email. The communication was professional throughout the entire process. The two company representatives showed up on time for the appointment and spent an hour troubleshooting my system before deciding on the fix. The previous company had installed an oversized system without increasing the airflow. Basically the system was overheating. They made a phone call, drove back to the shop to get the parts and installed a new air intake and the system has been working perfectly since then. I am extremely happy with DB Heating & Cooling!

I had diagnosed an issue with my heater to be the switch inside the zone valve motor housing of one of my 2 heating zones.
I called several providers and asked the price of replacing the housing and they all gave quotes that were comparable.
Based on this information I went with DB Heating and Cooling as they were available the soonest - this was not an emergency call so I could wait.
My mistake was not getting the quote in writing.   The price I was given verbally was lower than what I was invoiced.
Unfortunately, and I hate doing this, I was put in the position of having to negotiate the price down after the work was completed.
I would definitely use this service provider again; however, I would make sure to get the bid in writing beforehand this time.
The job was small enough that I did not bother doing it - but still felt it prudent to at least get close to the original negotiated price, and Robert Hoerter was kind enough to at least meet in the middle.

I called them when the central air stopped working.  They came out within a few hours and met my father at the house.  Told him all we needed was a new capacitor.  System started up nice and cold.  Charge - $267.
Next day, system went down again.  Again, they responded within a few hours.  Told me the coil was frozen and the filters were clogged.  Said to wait 5-6 hours while running the fan to defrost the coil and then try it.  Charge - $0 (but tipped the guy).
AC still didn't work.  Called again and they responded out the same day and met my father again.  They said there was no freon in the system so they added freon.  System was back up and air was cold.  Charge - $400.
System stopped working again the next day.  Now, I was told the compressor was shot and needed to be replaced.  Estimate - $4,000 (minus a $400 credit for the freon).
This whole ordeal entailed four visits in as many days.  I had someone else come to look and they said the system was overcharged with freon (too much added) and it blew the compressor.  Estimate to replace not only the compressor but the whole outside unit - $2,000.  These are the facts, good luck deciding who to call with your AC.

UPDATE - REPLY - If it was dirty filters and a frozen coil, why did it take 3-4 visits and $700 to figure that out?  They nickel and dimed me with temporary fixes and were going to charge me double what the competitor was for the damage THEY caused.  Run away from DB!
Response from DB Heating & Cooling, Inc.

"Reason of failure was a filter that was never changed. And system was running frozen over for days causing compressor damage. Unit was frozen so we could not check charge when we were back to replace filter. So unit needed to thaw out. Once it thawed out it was also obvious that the system was very low on refrigerant charge. Company that said it was overcharged can not tell that when your compressor is not compressing anymore. in the future I suggest you have maintenance provided yearly to avoid problems like this in the future."

Joe was great, from the start he took a different approach of trying to solve our cold kitchen issue.  Everyone else was trying to upsell me on hardware but he explained its not how powerfull my Furnace is, its an airflow issue that could be resolved with a couple hundred dollars worth of ductwork.  We were actually able to downsize our furnace through installing a more efficient unit.  Very clean and efficient install, had 4 guys there and was done in one day.  Price was also very competitive.  I will continue to use them to service my system as I feel they are honest and fair.

Lost heat in my second floor system on one of February's bitter nights. Called at 8:30 AM the following morning and left message with receptionist (much better than an answering machine).
Got call back from Rob within 5 minutes.
Said he would be there at 10:30 to 11. Got there at 10:45 , had problem diagnosed in 20 minutes, and had new part replaced in an hour.
Rob is very friendly and professional and I would definitely call them again.

When heat wouldn't turn on at the beginning of this season, called this business, left message. Call was returned within minutes, and Rob arrived. Furnace was fixed and running, again within minutes; then rechecked to make sure this part replacement was all that was needed. Pleasant, professional, responsive...just a great experience. No need to look elsewhere in the future!

I made request for service and left msg. Call was promptly returned and appt was made for same day. Technician arrived on time. He looked for leak and found 1 pin hole in coil unit. Then went outside and found that capacitor was fried. He said he called the shop and it would be $185 for part and $100 to install. Also that he needed to add the R22 refrigerant and that R22 is very expensive now. I said go ahead and replace the fried part and add the refrigerant. $385 later I was back running w a/c. Later that night I checked online for the price of the part that I just paid $185 for and could get it at multiple places for under $20 BUCKS! I was more p***** at myself for not checking before I said go ahead. But the way these things go down you are basically at their mercy. So at the end of the day it all comes down to trust. It also comes down to if I think $160 gross profit on the part is fair or not. So it comes down to my perception if this service company and the tell tale sign is whether I would use them again or seek another company for future repairs/service. As the technician left he said i really will need to replace the coil unit by next year But this fix should get me through fine for this year. He said it would be about $900 and take a couple of hours of work. I can get the parts needed for under $300. I guess now I will shop this out to see my options. Hey in a year i may be able to watch enough YouTube videos to figure out how to do it on my own! (Probably not) but if I F-up I can always pay to have it fixed. Hope this helps!

My call was professionally answered on the third ring.  The person took my info and promised a call back.
Within 2 hours I got a call and we made an appointment.
They showed up right on time, were courteous and very knowledgeable.
Turned out we only needed a Freon recharge on both central air conditioning units.
We would use these guys again in a flash.
Couldn't be happier.

They were very responsive, and the appointment was easy to schedule and was within a few days of when I called. They arrived at the house slightly early. They were neat and efficient. They said the air conditioner really needed the servicing, but the dryer vent was not too bad. They also noted that whoever last serviced the A/C had changed the amperage to the wrong setting. They were very professional, and the price was what they had quoted on the phone.

DB Heating and Cooling did an excellent job (and quickly) with replacing our ancient furnace. Despite not having any on street parking due to snow, there were no complaints. Cheery and professional. The heat works beautifully now, our air quality is noticeably better and we are so happy that we chose them for our work.
