Of the three contractors we met with, Riggins' representative spent the most time with us, evaluated our needs the most thoroughly, and seemed genuinely interested in our situation. When we received the bids Riggins' was the highest, but this was due to their choice of the ThermoPride furnace, which is higher end. They also proposed an American Standard heat pump, which gets good reviews as does their furnace choice. In addition, Riggins' bid included adding a register to our existing system. The second highest bidder offered an AirTech furnace, which lacks some of the advantages of ThermoPride. They mentioned that the cost would be $1000 higher with a ThermoPride instead, thereby making the two bids comparable but without the additional register. The third bid was the least expensive but involved a ComfortMaker furnace, which we didn't want. That contractor's representative spent very little time at our house and his evaluation was perfunctory.
We were very impressed with Riggins' assessment, and since we have always been extremely satisfied with their service, we chose Riggins for our new system.
