I recommend Ziolowski Construction (Martin) if you know exactly what you want. Otherwise, be careful. I hired Martin to order and install seven replacement windows. I told him we planned to go with Marvin all wood windows, which are expensive but high quality. When I casually complained about the high cost, he recommended Trimlines, an all wood window considerably cheaper than Marvins that I had never heard of. I asked a few questions, but he didn't have much to recommend Trimlines except "that's what we have.? (classic!). He didn?t offer to provide any comparisons. I did a little research (not enough!) and didn't find much to dissuade me so I decided to follow his advice. That was my $7000 mistake. Once installed, the Trimlines looked so cheap that we told him remove so could go with Martin's as originally planned. We paid him in full, less the cost of installing the three he didn?t actually install. Everything was civil. My only objection is simply that at no time, even after he was paid, did he take any responsibility whatsoever for his costly advise, not even a "Sorry those Trimlines didn't work out," much less "Sorry about those Trimlines- I will install the Marvins at x percent discount" Instead, he acted like his lawyer was advising him not to admit any role whatsoever. When I emailed and politely brought up what I perceived as bad "customer relations" he didn't reply. I suspect (but don?t know) that he has a distribution deal with Trimline and put his interests before mine. Pretty standard stuff. So to wrap up, apart from his bad advice and his failure to take any responsibility for it whatsoever, I recommend him. He was actually better than all the contractors we tried to hire for the job (about six). He answered emails promptly, made appointments punctually, and the installation looked fine. As long as you know what you want and don?t need much ?customer relations,? he might work for you.
