I have been using Walt's Place since he opened around 1995. I'd been using a garage across the street and I got so mad at the way I was being treated I drove my car out of their lot. Then I noticed Walt's Place. I stopped and spoke with Walt. He'd literally just opened. I was leaving on a business trip, and asked him if I could leave my car (Bronco II) with him for the five days I'd be gone. He looked it over, tuned it up, and basically fix everything that the garage across the street hadn't done. When I picked up my Bronco, I couldn't believe it -- the vehicle hadn't run this well in years!
I use Walt's Place for everything related to my car. For my current car (an elderly Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue), his shop has repaired the fuel injection system, replaced the brakes, replaced the air conditioning system and done all the oil changes (which always include a tire check, lube and notification of anything that probably should be replaced). His prices are very fair, he discounts the cost of the parts, and he sticks to his estimates. He always gives me an appointment within a day or two of my call. The work is professional and it's done right. Unlike my experiences at garages before I found Walt's Place, I trust Walt not to do work on my car that I really don't need. I would recommend Walt to anyone.

I was impressed with the experience from start to finish. After the spark plug blew, I called and asked if he would be able to look at it. He explained that someone was there from 6am to 6pm, and I could bring it in at any time. I brought it in that evening after I came home from work.

Walt himself called the next day to explain the problem, what would be required to fix it, and an estimated cost. I gave the go-ahead to start repairs over the phone. He explained that there were other jobs ahead of it in the shop, so it would probably take about a week. I greatly appreciated that he managed my expectations, and let me know that it would take a while.

A few days later, Walt called be back to say that the repairs were started, and he might be able to finish faster than originally expected. A day after that, the job was done.

Overall, I was impressed. I marked Punctuality as a B, because of the delay between repair authorization and the actual start of repairs. I realize that was due to limited resources, but I would have liked it to be a little faster.

Feel comfortable and have built a relationship with the company. Great prices and never been horrified about prices.
