I contacted Frank and explained the problem. He indicated that he does not generally work on Wolf appliances, but he would be willing to make the trip and attempt to diagnose. Frank arrived in the time window he promised, and though he was unfamiliar with his particular oven, he was able to think his way through the problem, diagnose the issue, and replace the part.
"Sorry for the any misunderstanding , but I told [member name removed] the total estimate was around $400 or $500. The breakdown is as follows: $180 labor ; $150 - $250 for parts ; $15 shipping = $345 to $445 . And with sales tax, an estimated grand total of between $370 and $480. I also told him ALL costs were APPROXIMATE meaning it could be a little more or a little less . One must also realize that ‘Big Ticket’ items such as main computer controls, and motors etc., always require 2 trips. Because of there size, costs, and variations stocking such items on ones truck is unproductive . Also the labor includes diagnosis time, on the first trip, and the part installation ( labor) on the second trip. It is also in the nature of the business that multiple trips are costly. Hopefully this will clear things up."
I was thankful that he showed us how to get around having to buy a new dryer right away. Months have passed and the dryer continues to work with out a problem.
I paid Frank the agreed upon price to come to the house. Unfortunately, I do not remember what that was.
Frank was efficient, and informative. He did what he needed to do for us and I did not feel that he took advantage of us. I would call Frank again for a similar repair.
Frank is the best. He arrived within the specified time frame, diagnosed the problem and did the repair all within a reasonable amount of time. I don't know what the average pricing is for labor and parts, especially on a Saturday, but I suppose his pricing was fair for the work done. What I liked best? Frank took the time to explain the situation and made me feel comfortable... priceless. He also saw an issue with my dryer duct that he believed I could replace on my own. Frank told me what to by and exactly what to do. I went to a big box homestore, bought the parts and replaced the duct, no problem. Thanks Frank.
Frank followed up with phone calls several times, days later, after researching
the various problems to confirm his assessment. Very honest and generous
with his time.
"Shut valves ( faucets ) can only be replaced by a licensed plumber. Had the valve been operable, I would have happily replaced the hoses for her, after all I had the hoses right on my truck."
