Renovations are never a joy to live through, but Jim and his crew made it as painless as possible. I met with several contractors that were recommended for my home renovation before selecting Burke Built. From going over the architectural plans, to starting the job, to making changes, and new requests along the way, Jim was able to provide a simple, yet detailed, straightforward contract, answer my never ending stream of questions, and provide guidance when we weren't sure what the next steps were to get the job done.
His crew was the same from beginning to end, and they are the tidiest crew you could imagine. They were really great. For most of the job they were left to work on their own at the house while my partner and I were working. They were generally wrapped up for the day by the time we got home and had the house cleaned up and taped off, so we could have some space to live in while going through the renovation. 
So many decisions to make from kitchen to bath, to floor tiles, to paint colors, to doors, and doorknobs, to floor stain, and siding style and color, plus others I am sure I forgot about already. Jim checks in (phone, text, in person) pretty much every day to make sure the job stays on track, lets you know what he is doing, and adds the new requests to your job list. 
His price was probably in the middle of all the prices I received, but I think in the long run I saved more by working with him than some other contractors, as Jim grasped the whole job, instead of just given me different prices on certain pieces of the job, and everything else being an 'extra'.  My one regret was not using his kitchen guy. I used a 3rd party kitchen design/cabinet company, and it was without a doubt the biggest headache of the whole job. All those things that Jim handled on the rest of the jobs, we had to take care of with the kitchen. It cost us an incredible amount of time, days off work, and stress that wouldn't have existed had we gone with the guy Jim recommended for us. Thankfully it all came together in the end, and looks great, but Jim's crew did have to take care of the duct work that the 3rd party neglected to take care of in their work. Fortunately we were smart enough to go with his recommendations on plumbing suppliers as well as tile suppliers, doors, etc, and that was easy as could be. Just go to the stores or look at the catalogue, make your selections, tell the person at the store, and let Jim (& his plumber) deal with the rest!!  The house looks brand new, and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

Jim was wonderful to work with and hired the best people as subs. He was a perfectionist and over our 5 month renovation, became a family friend. He is the perfect combination of professionalism, integrity, vision and artistry. He helped us create an awe inspiring home that exceeded our expectations. You will not find a better contractor in the tri-state area.

Mr. Burke and his team work proficiently like a fine precision machine. They came in and replaced an incorrectly placed structural beam that supported a second story, and then completed that second story. The subs were coordinated smoothly and each were professional in their execution. At all times Mr. Burke communicated his process so that no misunderstandings developed. If I had any concern, it was limited to getting quotes out of him for additional work. But it was obvious he stretched himself thin in order to stay personally involved with his various projects, asserting i's were dotted and t's crossed.

His honesty and professionalism eventually resulted in my just authorizing him to do add-ons without quotes, and at NO time did I feel cheated. Naturally, I wouldn't recommend anyone do such unless they developed their own comfort level with the firm. I note his slowness in returning quotes only because I saw it noted in one or two other reviews. Waiting on his quote is worth the wait, not because he's inexpensive, but because he quotes value; a fair price for exceptional results.
Burke Built's attention to detail and quality was in stark contrast to my prior contractor, which I'll review once my Consumer Complaint is processed by the State, I have additional construction planned and will use only Burke Built.

Jim and his team did an outstanding job on our addition and handled the entire project with the utmost professionalism. His ability to manage a project and keep it going is the best I have ever seen. When he gives a timeline, his team sticks to it and complete things when he says they will. All of his team as well as his sub contractors that he has aligned himself with are courteous, professional,extremely knowledgeable and very neat. If you want the job done right and do not want any aggravation, you must hire Burke Built.
