We had several chimney contractors come out and we received roughly the same price from all of them. The plan was the rebuild our damaged chimney from the roof up and to install liners down to two fireplaces to make them into functioning wood burning fireplaces.
They started work on the discussed date but, unbeknownst to me, they failed to get a permit to begin work and were promptly shut down by the building inspector (I guess he was driving by). They told me they pulled a permit for a person with a similar name, but, I ended up having to go down to city hall with the project lead to fill out the permit application with him.
Once the permit was obtained the work went quickly and was done over the course of two days. They did not install the caps on the chimney as they wanted to wait until everything had fully set first.
Three weeks later I finally got them to come back and finish the job. I haven't used the fireplaces yet but with the fall weather coming I may give them a whirl. If there are any problems I'll post an update but everything seemed to be done properly and everything went smoothly with the inspection.

Went much better than expected.
Call went out to QUALITY C & R and a team showed up the same evening willing to assess the damage and provide the required tarping services. The cost of emergency tarping was high but given the circumstances we understood the effect our demand had had on the cost of supply and as such we complied. Additionally, other companies had already told us we would be on a two week waitlist for tarping. Some never even returned our calls.
An estimate from QUALITY R&C for the repairs was comparable to and sometimes cheaper than estimates from other companies. We decided to go with QUALITY C&R and we were pleased with the speed and efficiency with which the repairs were done. The work also came with a three (3) year guarantee. What more can we ask for? Our contact guy ERIK J. was very professional in his relations with us and allayed our fears when we were becoming impatient as a result of the impending threat of rain.
All in all we were very satisfied with the quality and timeliness of the work done.

We gave Quality Construction a $2000 deposit on May 3, 2012, and did not hear from them in 3 weeks. They called yesterday, and said they were going to charge us another $3000. I had a signed contract, and they cashed our check 3 weeks ago. We haven't heard from them in 3 weeks. What's up? They seem very shady, and I wouldn't recommend them. I would grade them a Big F, or maybe an F Plus! They said they were a family owned company. I am really worried about getting my money back.

"Unfortuantley this was a situation that was caused by miscommunication along with a little confusion on our part. We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration that this has caused you. The money should have been returned to you at this point. If there are any further issues we will address them immediatley and professionally. This particular situation does not reflect how we run our business at all. We are a fairly new company and we display hard work and dedication when it comes to the jobs that we take on. We do our best to fullfill all of our customers wants and needs. Our goal is to make our customer's happy and keep them wanting our business. We will do whatever it takes to satisfy our customer's and if any issues arise we will fix them abruptly until the customer is 100% satisfied. Once again this particular customer's situation is unfortunate but overall is not a reflection on how we run our company."
