The guy who laid the pavers did an amazing job. The owner who handles the prices...not so much. I place some blame on myself for not realizing but this guy tried to overcharge me every way possible. He was originally going to install a drainage system to help with water run off, he included it in the price. The guy who does the pavers didn't think we needed it so we didn't get it and it was deducted from the quote (something the owner wasn't happy about). Upon excavation, there were some old stumps that needed to be ground up, a pretty big hiccup. The owner came to me to discuss that extra time and work and equipment rental to do that. I thought that was fair because it required his guys to do extra work. Great, now we are even? No. He charged me $1,875 for the fire pit because "it had to be from the same stone as my pavers", fine. Turns out this was unnecessary. There is nothing about that fire pit that can justify that price. Especially since, I hear he "throws in the fire pit for free" for other estimates. Probably because I paid for the next 10 people's fire pits. He had included a quote for $500 for stone (for a 15x3 ft area) and then talked me out of it to go with mulch, except he left the stone in the invoice until I said something. Accident? Maybe. He then sent the updated invoice that removed the stone and included the mulch for $207. The invoice says "3 yards of mulch". I watched the guy empty maybe 6 bags of mulch from Home Depot. Since my entire property takes 4 yards of mulch every year and this area is maybe 10% of that, this was a blatant rip off. Apparently to this guy 6 bags at $5 a piece = $207. Last was the privacy trees where the mulch was. I requested Arborvitae and his guy talked me out of it and suggested California Privet because they grow quickly. He planted 10 of them and they haven't grown an inch. 3 years later and no privacy. Maybe it's the soil or they don't get enough water? I installed drip irrigation to each plant to no avail. I also planted 8 more California Privets along the same fence line on the other side of my property 1.5 years after they planted. Those are huge and are now serving the purpose of privacy tree, not the ones they planted though. In Spring of 2017 I called and asked if they can spray fertilizer because I was "sold" privacy trees and were anything but, he said he would send someone out and never did. I spoke to the guy that was supposed to spray and he was never even told to do it. I called the owner back again...never returned my call. Oh yea, and he charged me $985 for 10. When I planted the other ones myself....they were $29 a piece. Full disclaimer, there was a $695 discount on the invoice but even with that it was all a rip off. Happy with the pavers, not happy with the landscaping or business practices
