"After reading your Review,I had to go back to my records to refresh my memory. What I found was your job was completed in early "2011". In Nov 2012,I was contacted by Linda because she had left a hot iron on the floor and had damaged the finish, she wanted advice how to fix it or an estimate from Bantry Floors to repair.I responded to let her know I was out of the country due to a sudden death in the family ( looking at the emails she was very kind in her response). There are "NO" emails of any complaints of the work Bantry Floors completed.Regarding your issues that you now bring to my attention in June "2018"- When a customer is asking for advice on color or type of sheen,I give my professional opinion,But as always the homeowner has the final say, as "You" did."
"Sorry you have the wrong contractor,I have never worked at that address"
Ken and his team arrived each day of 4 days when they said they would. They left the house clean each day. The floors were sanded and holes, etc were filled in. They even filled in spaces between some of the boards, which we were not expecting. They paid great attention to detail, and my husband and I are very picky!
We told Ken the look we were going for in the house and he helped us pick a perfect stain, spreading it on part of the floor so we could actually see what it would look like.
You would never know a wall was removed and the kitchen floor was newly added. You would never know that this wasn't a brand new floor! Our other contractors are amazed at the transformation.
We chose Ken and Bantry floors because of their overwhelmingly great reviews on Angie's List. We were not disappointed. Ken is a real professional who does quality work. We would hire them again in a heartbeat!
Definitely will use again.
Bought a new home and the whole first floor was carpeted. I was told hard wood underneath and to me a home has to have hardwood floors. Pulling up the carpet was going good - floors looked reasonably in good condition - until I got to back bedroom and entranceway in front of front door. Front entrance between door and stairs was a 4x6 sheet of plywood. And back bedroom had a 4x6 section that was a weird patch job with white oak and 6 inch boards (instead of red and 2 1/2 inch).
When I read the reviews I knew Ken was the guy to call and I wasn't disappointed. Based on his reviews, I knew he would be busy but I needed floors done yesterday so that I could move in - I was going back and forth between homes 2 hours apart I left a message for Ken and he called me back same day, and was up front about scheduling. He came out next morning exactly on time. I was considering trying to save money by covering plywood at front entrance with tile and just leaving the patch work in the back bedroom. He said I couldn't leave the back bedroom, it would bother me and gave me a price to repair that only a fool would refuse. I told him how badly I needed to get my furniture into the house and he squeezed me into the schedule that same week.
The day they were to begin work (Friday), he called me at 8:30AM to let me know I didn't leave the right keys to the front door....I couldn't get the keys to the house until 2pm - and he very graciously told me his team would be back to start at 2PM (on a Friday!).
Less than a week later, the floors were finished and they were perfection - you can't tell there was any repair work done. Floors are flawless, Ken is a real professional - his work is the best. Its refreshing to get work done by true craftsmen who takes pride in their work and deliver beautiful results. He is responsive and called me periodically to let me know status and when I could get back in the house, which let me schedule and plan ahead for moving in.
Refinished all of the hardwood floors in a 2 story house and installed new shoe molding. The house is 75 years old and the floors were covered with wall to wall carpet. When the carpet came up the floors were a mess. The floors were sanded, stained, urethane applied and some of the boards replaced. It was hard to believe that the floors went from ugly to beautiful. There was no dust from the sanding and the job was meticulous. The floors now look brand new and improved the look of the house by a huge margin.
In addition, it was so easy to work with Ken. He is easy going and extremely knowledgeable about how the floors should be treated. I would recommend Bantry to anyone needing this type of service, we are extremely pleased and happy!!
Our floors had been covered by wall to wall carpet dating back to the previous owners of the house. When we took the carpet up we found out why. A large section of the living room floor had no hardwood at all but had been patched with plywood. There were a number of pet stains. The front entryway had a poor quality parquet floor that had worn badly glued to the hardwood beneath. There were holes in the floor where steam radiators had been removed. We also wanted to improve the way the living room and dining room floors transitioned to the kitchen. Everywhere else we wanted general refinishing.
Ken explained how he could interweave new sections of floor where the plywood was. He outlined all the steps of the project. Very importantly for me, he committed to what it would all look like when the job was done, and he said that if anything else came to light while he was working on it he would fix it.
Ken's expertise was bang on the money every time. Going into the project we were sure we wanted a dark stain. Looking at the qualities of the room, he advised we go lighter. When the project was underway he put down a patch of each stain for us to compare and he was right: the darker stain would have been oppressive. He also talked us through water based vs oil based stains, and we went with water based because of his input.
The crew working on our floors arrived promptly every day they were scheduled and worked diligently. Ken was frequently on site himself. The work was conducted over four days. Debris from the job was neatly packaged. Clean up inside the house was excellent. And the work itself was just perfect. They did everything they said they would do, and it looks just as good as he said it would look.
Since we were going to paint and do some other repairs we didn't have the crew move all our furniture back into place. The painting etc got interrupted over the winter, and we didn't finish it all until the start of the summer. Six months after the floors had been finished, Ken came back to put back the furniture!
Don't look any further: Bantry is the way to go.
