Let me start by saying that my father was a plumber, half brother, uncle and cousin are all plumbers. Heine arrived promptly and had to wait 5-10 minutes for my wife to arrive home. They completely took advantage of my wife by quoting her $345.00 to replace one $30.00 hose hip and another $365.00 to replace the other. My house was built in 2008, the basement is unfinished and access to the interior side of the hose bib is easy in both areas. They worked one hour to complete changing two hose bibs and charged a whopping $710.00 with a bogus $70.00 discount. The total bill was $640.00 for an hours work. I really wish my wife would have called me before agreeing to this absurd charge, but she didn't. I'm pretty sure O.J. Simpon's lawyers didn't get paid $580.00 an hour. I called the company to complain and ask about the charge, I told him i know the price of the materials is $30.00 each. The person on the other end said the charge was for three hours work including travel time, and the parts were american made brass which is not $30.00. Apparently he doesn't know the internet exist and within 20 seconds i looked up the part which was wolverine brass frost free hose bib $30.00 retail. also since when so people charge travel time? Not to mention they are located 5 minutes down the road from me. Horrible experience! I will never use this ripoff company again!

We truly feel a need to respond to you misrepresentation of the events. A company such as ours which has been in business for over 35 years with the same name and owner could not survive in such a small community if it were a "rip-off"! Most of our clientele is by word of mouth from extremely satisfied customers. It is of the utmost importance that we address your accusation of taking advantage of your wife. She was given 3 price options in writing BEFORE we did any work. She seemed unsure, whereupon the technician told her she could either call you to discuss it or we could come back at a later date so she could think about it. Your wife called you with the information that was written and she apparently received approval from you. She chose option #3 which included the first 2 options at a 10% discount of $71.00. We also waived the customary service call fee - a total savings of $126.00. Again, the price for the complete installation was presented to your wife BEFORE work was performed and she agreed to it by signing the work order. Just as when shopping in a store you can chose to pick up a priced item and purchase it or put it back on the shelf. You both knew the cost and could have declined. How is this a rip-off? Your wife also signed that the work was completed satisfactorily. You failed to mention that there were two technicians working at your home, thereby completing the job more quickly - however, the manpower and hours were still implemented. We do not offer bargain service, which explains the longevity of our company. Success such as this does not come from over-charging. It comes from providing high quality customer service from initial contact through follow-up. We receive calls everyday from homeowners who had a plumber install something a year ago and they can no longer find him/her. Knowing that we will be here tomorrow and we will respond if there is any problem with our work is a great comfort to our three thousand plus satisfied customers. We strive daily to offer the best in customer service, workmanship, and the highest quality parts available. We stand behind our work and consider our customers a priority. We know we will never be the cheapest company in Sussex County, but we are certain we will be among, if not the best.

He arrived promptly. I called for help with a flooded basement and he arrived soon after my call. He was professional and gave me an estimate before starting the job. He was knowledgeable an gave me a number of solutions to prevent future flooding of my basement. He was able to fix the problem quickly and was reliable, professional and extremely knowledgeable of plumbing issues. I would use again and recommend to others.

They're very pleasant, came right away and were professional and honest, but the cost to replace two bad valves and install a filter housing that I supplied was truly astounding. The amount of labor time was about 90 minutes. They advised me the approximate cost in advance, but considering they were already at my location and that my water was shut off, I felt compelled to use them. They came when they said they would and there was follow-up by their office. The company itself is family-owned and well-known in my area. Had I decided to not use them, there would be no cost for the visit and estimate. The plumber that came was professional and explained what he was going to do. The work was all crimped rather than soldered, which means water hammer will never bust those joins loose and so, is a superior way to fit copper pipe. The service was done during the day, on a weekend, which you may want to factor in when considering cost. This job was a very simple one, so I can't speak to their abilities beyond what was done for me, but I have no doubt that they're qualified and experienced. In short, I have no quibble with their abilities, only the large cost associated with the job. Understand that they didn't put pressure on me - they didn't have to, as I was stuck. In the details section here, it asks if I would use this provider again and I answered 'no.' Let me qualify that by saying that I would use them IF I could afford them.

SUPERIOR SERVICE!!. Another plumber said it couldn't be fixed, but John quickly assessed the situation & gave me the option to repair or replace. I had him repair and it works perfectly. I've used Heine Plumbing before and they are great. They are the only ones I will ever allow in my house to work on my plumbing. John and Kris both are professional, knowledgeable, pleasant and neat. Horrible - worst customer service I have ever experienced. Except the dispatch lady who was very helpful and courteous. Tech showed up, put on shoe booties to avoid tracking in dirt - nice touch. I jokingly asked why he brought such a big truck for such a small job. He dryly said the truck carries a lot of parts. OK good. He looked at the shower and immediately began bad mouthing Kohler. I empathized and said I did not know why the Kohler was installed because this was a Home Depot neighborhood. He walked swiftly out the door saying Kohler is junk and that he did not carry parts for Kohler because they were very hard to get. I jokingly asked him if he had any parts for my shower on that big truck - he was not amused. The tech spent the next several minutes attempting to locate the right Allen wrench to remove the shower handle and was continually amazed how he guessed wrong about the size wrench needed to remove the handle. After he took off the cover he declared the job over because the piece was brass and Kohler no longer makes parts for that model (citing some model name which made little sense to me). Then stated the inside was brass and even if he had the parts he would not install them because its all junk. I assured him I had removed the brass cover once before and the inside piece was black plastic. He refused to believe me. He put it back together stating the entire assembly needs to be replaced - An entire Delta system is required with four hours of labor and $1500 - we don't do that on Saturdays - Saturdays are reserved for emergencies. Now I new why he had a hair across his bottom. This was not an emergency and he was called for a job that took him away from something else. I get that - no one wants to work weekends if they do not have to. But I did not schedule the call - his office did and he took it out on me. Maybe I am wrong - but this was very poor customer service. Once he realized he could not fix the problem - he walked out. No work-a-round plan - no options - nothing. Just walked out - Have a good day. On Monday I called Sharpe Plumbing. Tuesday the plumber came - we had a good conversation and the job was done in an hour. He had the mystery parts and all is well. Sussex county - John Sharpe - no one else.

We're sorry you felt the need to rate us so poorly. It seems there has been a misunderstanding of what occurred. This is NOT a true representation of our company as is clearly demonstrated in ALL of the other Angie's List reviews as well as other online reviews. We just yesteray received two feedbacks via Square credit card processing: "Always impressed by the consistent quality of work and service provided by the Heine family. Very satisfied client since 1996" and another "Excellent all around! John and Kris are the best....expert, efficient, patient with explanations and friendly." There are hundreds others we receive yearly just like these. We do indeed carry many parts on our big truck as you "jokingly" called it. That does not mean we have every part - some that are outdated may have been used on previous jobs and may need some time to re-stock again. Due to the fact that we did not have the part that day, we offered two options: 1. We could replace the valve so that you would have use of the shower that day. 2. We could return and repair it once the part was back in stock. You chose not to replace and we did not charge you for anything. Most individuals will realize that one review such as this amongst all good ones is to be questioned. Our goal is to provide quality service using the best materials available. We are sorry we were not able to satisfy you.

Our water heater started leaking the week before Thanksgiving. We called a plumber that we had used a few times in the last 14 years. He gave us a high quote to replace it. After speaking with friends and family to get their input about the cost, we called some that were referred to us. Heine Plumbing was one that someone mentioned and we found them listed online under local plumbers. This company was 1 of 2 that answered the phone. We were given very clear precise instructions about the service call and how their billing worked. The lady who handled all the phone calls was nice and professional. The plumber came at the appointed time and after checking the water heater, he gave us a reasonable price, which we accepted and then he did the work at that time. That was great, as we did not have to make another appointment as the other plumber came by just to see the job. His work was done quickly and neatly. He even provided the stones that the heater needed to be placed on per code. He gave us a name of an electrician, as none that we had called were available. Many of them did not return a phone call or message. The guy he referred called and came the next day (the day before Thanksgiving) during a storm and did the work. His price was so reasonable and he was very polite. My husband and I planned to use their services again in the future. A++++

We have used Heine Plumbing several times over the past few years for small and big jobs. In addition to the most recent service above we have used them for other repairs which turned out to be major repairs. A couple years ago, they spent a week repairing the damage from a sudden leak in our old bath tub wall pipe that went through to the kitchen ceiling below. The floor/ceiling had to be torn out and much of the old bathroom replaced. It wasn't an easy job since it's an old home with charm but floors and doors that are not necessarily level or straight anymore. Since we only have one bathroom in our home, they supplied a portable toilet and returned every night to replace our regular toilet after the carpenter was done with the sheet rocking and tiling. About six months later when the portable handheld shower from the new bathtub unit developed a leak in the hose, they came to check it out and replaced it on the spot at no charge. The following year, we had a clog in the sewer pipe from our washer line in the basement which turned out not to be a laundry clog but an ancient broken sewer line which collapsed farther from the house and filled with mud having been severely damaged by roots. It had been repaired at least half a century earlier with several different types of pipes which allowed the roots to get into the system. They drilled out the clogs and cleared the line of mud and debris from the broken pipes so the sewer line would work until they could get the permit and sewer and gas lines marked for the trenching to be done. They coordinated everything about the job and worked with excellent contractors to very carefully dig the trench from the house to the road. They rerouted the pipes to give easier access to the sewer line if needed in the future. They all worked through miserable, cold, windy, rainy weather and were soaked to the bone but wanted to get the job done before the impending bad weather which turned out to be our big October snowstorm. The contractors repaired the sidewalk and planted grass seed, covered with straw. It looked better than it did before they started working. A year after the sewer line was replaced, the lawnmower broke the cap to the sewer outlet. We called Heine Plumbing and they returned the next day with a replacement cap which they put on at no charge. They are a class act. We call Heine for our plumbing issues, big and small, and wouldn't think about using anybody else. The office and the plumbers are great. They explain everything and answer our questions so we learned something new every time they were here. They kept us updated all through the projects so we knew what was going on. We know we can rely on them, their professionalism, the quality of their work, work ethic and their kindness. They coordinate their big projects with other conscientious professionals and craftsmen. Let's face it, having major plumbing problems is an unexpected expense along with a lot of worry and potential inconvenience. Plumbing problems are not something that can be put off and you want to have the right person doing the job . It's nice to know that Heine Plumbing are dependable, professional people making it right. We would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Our baseboard heating developed a pin hole opening in the pipe due to corrosion causing a small leak when the heat was on which left the carpet like a sponge in the guest bedroom. We turned off the heat to avoid any further water rising in the pipes to the second floor. I called their number to leave a message late on Sunday night but to my surprise, they picked up right away. We agreed it wasn't an emergency. They were there first thing on Monday morning and resolved our problem quickly. We've used Heine Plumbing for other projects as well. (See below)

Thank you for providing feedback. We sincerely appreciate and seriously consider all comments. We do however feel the need to respond to the fact that you mentioned that you would "get an estimate first" next time. In your case, as is our policy with ALL our service calls, you were given 3 WRITTEN quotes for all of the work performed BEFORE beginning any work. You SIGNED your approval BEFORE the work was begun as well as signing afterward that it was satisfactorily completed. You could have declined if you felt it was not in your budget. In response to the clean-up, we do pride ourselves on protecting the work area as well as cleaning when we are done. We apologize if we missed something and if you had mentioned it before signing that the work was satisfactorily completed, we would absolutely have gone over the area again. We appreciate that you said you would use us again and we look forward to that opportunity.

We were very pleased with their professionalism and the immediacy of their response and follow-up on the work. Their bid was a little higher than some others, but their reputation for quality and professional work helped us make the decision. They ran into some major issues and always came when they were scheduled. As a matter of fact there were days they wanted to come but because of other construction in the bathroom, they could not. It was a novel event to ask them to come at another time rather than being told by a tradesman that we'd have to wait. We were very pleased with both the work and the pleasant attitude of both John and Christopher Heine. We would definitely recommend Heine Plumbing. Should we have new or additional plumbing needs, we would definitely go back to Heine Plumbing.
Description of Work: John Heine and his son Christopher re-did the piping in our basement as well as all the piping for our renovated bathroom. They installed the new toilet, sink and fixtures and the Jacuzzi tub. They also repaired plumbing issues under the kitchen sink and installed new piping and fixtures (faucet, etc.).

On Saturday afternoon, I noticed a big puddle of water leaking from around my water heater and called the company. The person who answered the phone was very professional and curteous, asking me to describe the problem, asking me if it was an emergency requiring service immediately or if it could wait until Monday. I still had hot water so I said it could wait until Monday. She took my name and phone number, quoted me the price for the service call (plus any repairs if necessary) and said that someone would be available to come by on Monday morning. She also stated they would call me on Monday morning to inform me exactly when they were on their way to my house. On Monday morning, I received a phone call from the company to let me know that they would be there within the hour. John Heine, the founder of the company, arrived in under an hour and he got right to inspecting the water heater. Unfortunately, he let me know that the top weld of the water heater had failed and it could not be repaired. He stated it would need to be replaced. He quoted me a price for the heater and labor. It was more than I was able to currently spend - not because the quote was outrageous but because of how the previous homeowner setup the hot water system. The previous homeowner had installed two 40 gallon liquid propane water heaters with power venting which I learned is not cheap to replace (I did some independent research after John left because I was a little skeptical). When I bought the house, one of the units was disconnected as the previous homeowner's kids moved away and they did not need to run two water heaters. John and I discussed our options and as money is tight I asked if he could check and if possible reconnect the other water heater for now. So, John inspected the other unit making sure the propane line and plumbing connection to the unit were still in good shape and he stated it looked good. He reconnected the unit and drained the remaining water out of the broken unit. While we waited for the water to heat up so we could test the reconnected unit, I asked about other options like an electric and tankless water heaters. John was very knowledgable and he described the pros and cons of each. In the end, I decided that I would save my money until I could afford to replace the broken unit as we both weren't sure if the reconnected unit would last - only time will tell. I was very pleased with service I received and I would use them again.

As expected, it went well. John Heine showed up on time, did a meticulous job and cleaned up when the work was done. The work was just a routine Falll maintenance of the furnace and hot water heater; however, it is important to mention that Heine Plumbing and Heating has done a lot of work for me over the past 8 years. I purchased an older house that was in great need of improvement, including the plumbing and heating systems. I have used Heine to install the propane lines for my heat and stove, install a new furnace, replace the leaky, decaying piping in the crawl space, replace faucets and thaw frozen pipes. To say the least, I know Heine's operation well. Their work is impeccable; I know it will be done according to code and will pass inspection. They have responded quickly to my emergencies. His office is great to deal with. They return calls, they keep the customer informed and they are very understanding. I know that some consumers are concerned primarily with getting and quot;bargainsand quot;, but it's not a bargain if you get shoddy plumbing work. You'll end up calling Heine Plumbing and Heating to fix someone else's and quot;bargainand quot; job.

After putting up with leaky, cheap plumbing it was time to have it done right. I called Heine Plumbing and Heating even though I had never used them before. I was familiar with the name and willing to hear what they recommended. I'm glad I took the chance because using them was a good experience. They were prompt and professional. The plumbing is quality work. Unfortunately, the price was higher than I hoped it would be, but in the long run it was well worth it.

Description of Work: I used Heine Plumbing & Heating to put in a kitchen faucet and replace some underneath pipes.
