We have an underground oil tank, and I've heard horror stories over the years about what can happen when they leak. I found out that homeowners can purchase insurance to cover the costs of an oil leak, but first, of course, the oil tank or soil must be inspected by an approved testing company. When I first called Brian at Eco Logic, he told me about the less expensive and less invasive testing procedure, in which the tank is tested using sophisticated acoustic equipment. Brian (who is very knowledgeable) put my mind at ease about the test, and the technician (Tom) was prompt, professional, and pleasant. He knew I was anxious, and gave me the results as soon as the testing was completed. (The results were favorable.) I highly recommend Eco Logic. They do everything they can to make a difficult process as painless as possible.

Selecting a testing company for in ground oil tank soil testing is extremely important. Many companies that test also do tank removal or partner up with a tank removal company creating a conflict of interest. If the soil is contaminated the cost of remediation is very high. My research for my area was $20,000.00 and up. Eco Logic Env. Testing does not do tank removal and is listed in the BBB. (Most testing companies are not.) They answered all my technical question before any work was done, offered very good advice and references. Thomas arrived on time very professional well-groomed and kind. The truck and testing equipment was clean and in great condition. The tank dimensions were established using expensive ultra sound equipment so the testing would not disturbed the condition of the tank. For details about the testing you must visit their web site.

From the initial call to schedule our appoint to the final testing at the house, it was a great experience. Richard, project manager - Compliance Division, met us at the property and talked us through the process. He had already met the owner, conducted the house (basement) assessment and quickly began the external analysis. He then took time to talk us through the findings. Overall, we received great customer service. Richard and Eco Logic- Thank you for making this part of the NJ real estate process easy!

Richard was there on time, actually early, and did an amazing job explaining everything he did. Unfortunately for me he found a tank that if I didn't know about now, could cause me a lot of money down the line. I suggest this service for anyone who moves into a house that suspects a buried tank.

Ecologic inspected the septic system for us prior to purchasing a home in July of 2013. The system passed with no issues highlighted. Approximately 18 months later we had to list the home due to a corporate relocation and our buyer coincidentally used Ecologic. The reports we're highly disparate, several serious issues were highlighted, requiring action and repair with costs of approximately 2000.00. We consulted two licensed Septic contractors, neither of which could support that the issues highlighted could have occured in the time between inspections. Despite this the inspection report required action in order to sell the home. The rear yard was excavated, and the issues highlighted in Ecologic's report were not confirmed by the septic contractor or township inspector. I challenged Ecologic for at least an explanation for the inconsistencies in reports and their response was to stand by both reports.

Eco Logic was on time - in fact, he was there early starting the exterior sweep. The work was professional, efficient and thorough. He made sure all my wuestions were answered. There was not an existing tank. He was familiar with the area and its history. My clients were very satisfied. We could not have asked for more.

Went ok, scan was almost completed/done prior to my arrival since the arrived earlier than scheduled. They scanned approximately 30' from home for oil tank specifying that special pumps would have been required. Basically doing this for a CYOA. Already had obtained a permit copy from TH that the tank was removed. Would have thought(preferred) the entire lot should be scanned, but will assume this is the way its done today.

It was a mixed bag with EcoLogic. The inspection itself was thorough and the tech was friendly enough, but the administrative side of things was unprofessional and frustrating.
Eco Logic was recommended to us by our home inspector to perform the oil tank sweep. I called to schedule the inspection during normal office hours and my call went to voicemail. I left a message and waited a day and a half for a response before calling again. When I called the second time, the receptionist responded that they hadn't gotten my message from before (with no apologies) and so we went about scheduling the inspection. The soonest they could schedule the sweep was a week away because they were so busy. I was a little disappointed they couldn't come sooner but I took their busy schedule as a sign of high demand and (hopefully) high quality work.
We scheduled the appointment for a Tuesday afternoon and so I coordinated that our realtor was also available at that time to let us onto the property. Tuesday morning rolls around and I get a call about 3 hours before the inspection was scheduled to start from the receptionist at Eco Logic saying that they had and quot;lost a technicianand quot; (whatever that means.. sounds very foreboding) and that they had to cancel and reschedule. Apparently they only have 2 technicians (in the company? or this area? unclear..) and so being one man down they couldn't meet demand for the day. I begrudgingly rescheduled, though an earlier call would have been nice as there were a lot of peoples schedules that were coordinated in order to be there for the inspection. Fortunately we were able to reschedule for Thursday that same week for a and quot;noon appointment.and quot; Which was fine with me. Again, I coordinated the realtor's schedule to confirm we could all be there at the same time to get onto the property, and we were good to go.
Thursday at 11:58am, we are waiting at the property with the realtor for the Eco Logic tech to arrive, and my phone rings again. Sure enough, it's Eco Logic calling to say that the tech was running 90 minutes late. Please note this was 2 MINUTES BEFORE he was supposed to be there! Needless to say I was frustrated, and asked the receptionist if there was anything they could do to allay our frustration and she simply said she would talk to her manager.
60 minutes later, the tech arrived and explained that usually the receptionist is supposed to tell customers that he always leaves a 90 minute window between appointments and that he never sets exact appointment times. This was all news to us, and we just let it go and let him do his work. The tech was friendly and worked efficiently and carefully. The tech told us that it looked like an oil tank had been removed a long time ago and that the existing, functional oil tank in the basement was a newer model. He also told us that there was rebar in the driveway, which was a nice surprise, and then adjusted his equipment to check for an oil tank beyond the rebar. He finished up and told us we were hidden tank-free, and we paid him via check and were told we'd have the report the following Monday.
This morning I received an email from the receptionist at Eco Logic (I'm assuming the same one i've had the pleasure of dealing with throughout this process) patronizingly stating that and quot;it has come to my attention that we have not yet received payment in the amount of $300 for this scan.and quot; I tersely replied that the tech was paid via check on-site, and she responded with the report attached (no apologies, again).
Overall, the service itself was quality and the turnaround was quick. But incredibly unprofessional support staff, and scheduling was a pain. I don't think I would recommend this service to anyone until they straightened out their administration.

My home inspection company contracted Eco Logic Environmental for an optional oil tank sweep at my request. The technical showed up on time during the home inspection. He first explained how the work will be performed, the capabilities of his test equipment and its limitations. He also examined the basement for any evidence of prior oil tank. I am purchasing the home that we reconstructed in 1997 with a previous building torn down. It was recommended to me to have a oil tank sweep anyway for a piece of mind.
The technician, Jeff, checked 30 feet in each direction from perimeter of the building. He also checked bordering area surrounding a neighbor's shed. There was no evidence of any oil tank left in this property. Jeff did found a small area that his detector picked up, he showed the area to me and explained why he suspected it is an probably a water well head. The property's driveway had a storage pod and a car parked by the seller that prevented its sweep. Eco Logic returned to the property a month later to complete its sweep without additional charge.
Eco Logic was very pleasant to work with. I spoke with Meagan in the office on couple occasions. Both the original report an the updated version were provided the day after the sweep. The report should be helpful if I would sell this home in the future.

They went above and beyond, they even replanted all the trees and did additional gardening work that did not have to do. They were very kind to ensure I was happy. I felt very good about, they are honest and trustworthy.
