Performed a thorough septic inspection, excellent follow up and answered questions thoroughly.
Eco Logic was recommended to us by our home inspector to perform the oil tank sweep. I called to schedule the inspection during normal office hours and my call went to voicemail. I left a message and waited a day and a half for a response before calling again. When I called the second time, the receptionist responded that they hadn't gotten my message from before (with no apologies) and so we went about scheduling the inspection. The soonest they could schedule the sweep was a week away because they were so busy. I was a little disappointed they couldn't come sooner but I took their busy schedule as a sign of high demand and (hopefully) high quality work.
We scheduled the appointment for a Tuesday afternoon and so I coordinated that our realtor was also available at that time to let us onto the property. Tuesday morning rolls around and I get a call about 3 hours before the inspection was scheduled to start from the receptionist at Eco Logic saying that they had and quot;lost a technicianand quot; (whatever that means.. sounds very foreboding) and that they had to cancel and reschedule. Apparently they only have 2 technicians (in the company? or this area? unclear..) and so being one man down they couldn't meet demand for the day. I begrudgingly rescheduled, though an earlier call would have been nice as there were a lot of peoples schedules that were coordinated in order to be there for the inspection. Fortunately we were able to reschedule for Thursday that same week for a and quot;noon appointment.and quot; Which was fine with me. Again, I coordinated the realtor's schedule to confirm we could all be there at the same time to get onto the property, and we were good to go.
Thursday at 11:58am, we are waiting at the property with the realtor for the Eco Logic tech to arrive, and my phone rings again. Sure enough, it's Eco Logic calling to say that the tech was running 90 minutes late. Please note this was 2 MINUTES BEFORE he was supposed to be there! Needless to say I was frustrated, and asked the receptionist if there was anything they could do to allay our frustration and she simply said she would talk to her manager.
60 minutes later, the tech arrived and explained that usually the receptionist is supposed to tell customers that he always leaves a 90 minute window between appointments and that he never sets exact appointment times. This was all news to us, and we just let it go and let him do his work. The tech was friendly and worked efficiently and carefully. The tech told us that it looked like an oil tank had been removed a long time ago and that the existing, functional oil tank in the basement was a newer model. He also told us that there was rebar in the driveway, which was a nice surprise, and then adjusted his equipment to check for an oil tank beyond the rebar. He finished up and told us we were hidden tank-free, and we paid him via check and were told we'd have the report the following Monday.
This morning I received an email from the receptionist at Eco Logic (I'm assuming the same one i've had the pleasure of dealing with throughout this process) patronizingly stating that and quot;it has come to my attention that we have not yet received payment in the amount of $300 for this scan.and quot; I tersely replied that the tech was paid via check on-site, and she responded with the report attached (no apologies, again).
Overall, the service itself was quality and the turnaround was quick. But incredibly unprofessional support staff, and scheduling was a pain. I don't think I would recommend this service to anyone until they straightened out their administration.
The technician, Jeff, checked 30 feet in each direction from perimeter of the building. He also checked bordering area surrounding a neighbor's shed. There was no evidence of any oil tank left in this property. Jeff did found a small area that his detector picked up, he showed the area to me and explained why he suspected it is an probably a water well head. The property's driveway had a storage pod and a car parked by the seller that prevented its sweep. Eco Logic returned to the property a month later to complete its sweep without additional charge.
Eco Logic was very pleasant to work with. I spoke with Meagan in the office on couple occasions. Both the original report an the updated version were provided the day after the sweep. The report should be helpful if I would sell this home in the future.
