From the start when drilling through my from porch Mr Yuha obviously used a very dull hammer drill because it took about an hour to get through a cinderblock and a brick.
After the job was done which took weeks longer than promised everything was covered with snow and it wasn't until the snow began to melt that I saw the damage Yuhas had done to my porch.
It was a very harsh Winter (2014-2015) and we had almost no break between heavy snowfalls. Each time we had a small thaw I would see cracks appearing more and more and getting wider and wider on my steps and around the railings that weren't there prior to Mr Yuhas working on my porch.
After everything thawed enough to see how much damage was done, I was shocked that my porch was crumbling so badly. I called Danley Electric who I had hired to install my Generator and who in return subcontracted the plumbinmg part of the job to Mr Yuhas.
Danley sent Yuhas over with his best friend (claimed to be a mason, but is doubtful. He provided no nmae, card or ID of any kind. He was obviously nothing morte than Yuhas' friend.
When I introduced myself they began insulting me, they laughed at me, and said they thought the whole situation was funny and to sue Danley.
They said the damage was there when the did the job. I don't know how his friend who claimed to be a mason would know that since he had never been in my yard before.
I didn't know what to do until my landscaper stopped by and said "what the h*** happened to your porch"? I explained what happened and that Yuhas claimed the damage was already done. He said that's an outright lie and I'm a witness since I'm at your house and on and around your front porch 45 to 50 weeks a year, I know and will swear to this damage was not here.
Since my landscaper said he would go to court with me I contacted the contractor who installed my landscape lighting several months before and asked him to stop by. He agreed and came by. He also stated that when he installed the landscape lights he had to drill through an area 6 inches from where Yuhas drilled and there was no damage to the porch and he was able to drill through easily in about a minute using a sharp, proper hammer drill bit which is key to preventing damage.
The contract also said he inspects every structure before beginning any work on it for this very reason. If there is damage he doesn't want to be blamed for it and he said that if the damage yuhas claimed was there had actually been there and he didn't make me aware of it, he's at fault for not doing so. It's like a car rental not inspecting a car you return and then blaming you for the damage they caused driving it back into the shop.
He further stated that due to the severity of the damage he would have declined to do the work until the damage had been reaired because it is in danger of possible collapse and anyone who would work on these steps in this condition has no idea about working with masonry and shouldn't be allowed to work in any capacity in construction.
I had Yuhas put a claim in with their insurance company. The Insurance Inspector was here for hours and whenhe wasd done writing up his report, his statement to me was thtat he could tell by the pattern of the cracks that the originated from the point of where Yuhas was drilling and the he was recommending that the company pay for the damage. A few weeks later I received a denial letter and when I called to ask why the woman from the insurance company told me they denied it because Yuhas claimed the damage was already there. So their inspector with dozens of pictures that show an obvious pattern od damage hold less weight than Mr Yuhas who doesn't know how to use a hanmer drill.
Now I had no choice, since Yuhas and their bargain basement insurance company who refuses to pay when he damages your property, I hired the #1 Mason on Angie's List In Central/Northern NJ to inspect my porch. He thoroughly inspected my porch showed me where Yuhas actually tried to cover a crack he created with a small anout of cement that matched the color of cement Yuhas used to cover the hole around the pipe he installed. He also pointed out that the contractor who drilled a hole for wiring for my lighting drilled a clean hole with no problems. The hole Yuhas drilled cracked & crumbled the cinderblock all around the hole which is a tell-tale sign of using a dull drill bit and attempting to used brute force rather than a sharp drill. He also said the ndrilling should have taken no longer than 30 seconds whendone with the correct drill with the correct drill bit that is sharp. He said the is obviously not what happened her. He asloe said if it took an hour and caused as nuch vibration ans we told him it did (our house vibrated heavily for an hour +) There are even cracks that developed inside the house between my kitchen and dining room that the person operating the hammer drill did not know how to use the tool.
Bottom line is YUHAS is a horrible business person, he's willing to lie to your face to cover himself and doesn't have the common sense to use a drill properly.
I will be heading to the County on Monday to enter my lawsuit against Danley & Yuhas on Monday to file my lawsuit.
My two witnesses and expert opinion will surely make Yuhas eat his lies.
