Auto Body Work
Oasis body shop has 2 Assistant Managers. The first one I spoke to , Rich, was responsible for estimating the damage that had to be repaired as well as shop operations. His estimate for parts and materials were consistent with the damage that my dealer had reported. Rich also stated that there might be hidden damage which could not be determined until the the damaged parts could be removed, and for which I would be responsible. In the event damage was so severe that I did not want to continue, I would be responsible for the reassembly of the car.
Rich then turned me over to Ed, also an Assistant Manager, responsible for office activities and we worked out a total price including discounts that could be applied, such as senior citizen, etc. He arranged a rental car with Enterprise for me, taking care of all the details and I dropped off the car on Tuesday, August 23, with an estimated delivery date of Friday, the 26th or Sat., the 27th of August. While all the repair parts were ordered and delivered by August 25, it was also found that a hidden pair of brackets had to be replaced and work could not be continued until they could first be mounted. As a result, a possible new delivery date of Tuesday, Aug. 30th or Wed., Aug. 31 was established.
At this point, Hurricane Irene intervened, and Ed called me to indicate that the delivery dates were now in question, and to suggest that rushing completion was not physically possible or desirable. Also, that my Malibu would probably be safer stored inside their shop. In spite of the delay caused by Irene, he called me at about 1:00 PM on Tuesday to report that my car, including a front wheel alignment and road test had been completed and was ready for pickup. When I picked up my Malibu, in all honesty, I have to report that it looked like a new car just out of the dealers showroom.
It might also be interesting to note that Enterprise, as a part of their company policy decided that since I could not use the rental as a result of Irene, they would deduct 2 days from the rental charge.
