Everyone from Kathleen who handled scheduling to the technicians were extremely helpful and pleasant. The technicians performed Dryer Vent Cleaning as Morris Township requires Certification on a biennial basis. Great service at a reasonable price point.

I wouldn't suggest McPuff. Less then pleased over all. Scheduled for a community dryer vent cleaning. No confirmation call the day before, even though scheduled almost a month prior. I had to seek out the workers 1 hr and 15 mins after my scheduled time slot, only to be told they were running ahead of schedule! No identification of McPuff by way of shirts, ID or truck.. Never came into my unit, only cleaned with one manual brush W/ possibly one extender, from the outside. Also didn't use an air blower, drill or machine of any type. Never again?

What is Wrong with these people??!!! My husband and I had them inspect our chimney months ago and they will not release the report! They are affecting the closing on our HOME!!!! They will NOT return my Husband's Phone calls nor mine and we've been calling for DAYS!!!! We are beside ourselves! They don't seem to care! I've explained in multiple messages how URGENT this is! This is terrible! Now their phone appears to be off the hook! I don't know if it is going to take a demand letter from our attorney to get these unprofessional people to do the job they were paid for!!! We NEED that report! I guess we are going to have to hire another company to do the inspection as we don't have TIME to do this with these people! WHY won't they call us back?! We are so upset!!!!! I would NEVER use them again! The stress they have caused us is so unacceptable! Now we have to hire somebody else! Beyond upset! V. Paone

Overall it went terrible. On the 27th of September a chimney sweep came to my house to do the cleaning. He did a fantastic job and was very professional. He gave me some great advice. However after the sweep it went downhill. I wanted to get a cap for the second flue in my chimney that goes to my furnace.
The sweep measured it out and charged me half of the $150 for the cap in addition to the sweep charge. It was a Saturday and he told me that on Monday someone would contact me to schedule an appointment. Well a week and a half went by and no one contacted me. I called the office and spoke to the woman who schedules appointments. She apologized and said that half the crew had the flu but someone would come during the week to install the cap and send me a bill (me and my wife both work and couldn't take off). No one came that week or the week after. I call again and talk to Robert. Robert apologizes and says that it must have slipped through the cracks. He assures me that he will leave the work order with the woman who does the scheduling since she leaves early on Fridays and would call me on Monday. Of course nothing comes of it and again two weeks later I'm calling up again. I speak to Robert again who has no recollection of talking to me. This is now late November. Again he says he will "prioritize the work order". I tell him "No thank you, I want a refund." He putzes around and says that might not be possible but he will see what he can do and call me back within the hour. Surprise! I never get a call back. I've tried calling for the past two weeks but it always rings to their answering service. I never get a call back from anyone that works at this terrible company when I leave a message for them. I've done that multiple times before and they just ignore it. In fact Robert told me once that the answering service must not have emailed my message to them so that is why I never got a call back
In conclusion this is a terrible company that does not want to please its customers. Obviously I will never use them again. It's a shame because I thought that the Chimney Sweep that did the work was very professional, knowledgable and helpful. Too bad the front office can't do anything right. For a while I was surprised they showed up initially but then realized they only did so they could get my check.

The service went great.  The technician, Vinnie, called me about 15 minutes before our appointment to let me know he was stuck in traffic and would be 10 to 15 minutes late, which was very considerate of him.  This is only our second time having our dryer vent cleaned (we have to do it every two years per our condo association) and the first time we didn't have a washer and dryer in place, so we were concerned that we would have to move the washer and dryer out of the way.  We contacted a couple other companies to see if they would move them for us and no one was willing to.  My brother-in-law asked one of his friends who had worked for McPuff recently and found out they would, so we gave them a call.  We were assured they would, and the price wasn't much more than any of the discounted prices we had seen elsewhere, so we made the appointment for this morning.  When Vinnie arrived he informed us he would actually do the cleaning from the roof top vent down instead, eliminating the need to move the appliances.  He started the dryer running on an air dry cycle, went up on the roof, we heard the noises of the brush scrubbing the inside of the vent and a few minutes later he was all done.  After he came back in he informed us that our vent cap was clogged open with dryer lint during a prior cleaning, but the vent tubing itself was very clean.  He fixed the issues that he saw and didn't charge us any extra for it.  The last time we had this done, by a different company, the guys had to go into the attic and take apart the vent tubing and used a truck with a huge noisy blower, and they took significantly longer to accomplish the same task.  We will definitely be using McPuff in the future for our bi-annual dryer vent cleanings.

Up until this point, I had been calling McPuff to do chimney and dryer-vent inspections/cleaning at my town-home. This past year I moved into a new house, and aside from inspections, and installing a new liner on my main chimney, I asked them if they service stoves and flues. They responded yes, so having been satisfied with prior work, I accepted the quote and asked them to perform the work. When I got home, the new gasket on the stove door did not seal the entire door (there was about a 1" gap), the stove wasn't cleaned, and they left me a note that this chimney (2nd one that the stove uses) needed a liner and the cap needed to be re-sealed. (Both items that did not come up on the original inspection just 2 months prior). The stove was left unusable due to the gap, and that was the end of that.

Fast forward 7 months, and we receive a brand new wood stove. Boy did we get a surprise when the old stove was removed -- the flue was HALF FULL of ash and corpses. Since we only used the stove twice after moving in, and never again after the gasket was replaced, this meant that the flue-cleaning I had requested was not performed.

You may have better luck with McPuff if you just stick to inspections and chimney cleaning - but it seems that everywhere you go, chimneys need new liners. Get a second estimate if anyone recommends a new liner to you.

I called McPuff for dryer vent cleaning in my townhouse in Hillsborough because my dryer wasn't working well.  I figured the vent must be clogged.  They came on time and did that job as well as inspect my chimney.   I was told the vent was now clear and that I needed two new chimney caps.  I declined to get the caps at that time.   Even though my dryer vent had been cleaned out, the dryer was not working well.  So, two weeks later, I called an appliance repairman.  He did a thorough exam and said that there was nothing wrong with the dryer at all.  He looked into the vent and said that it looked as though it hadn't been cleaned out in years.  He told me to look inside and I saw for myself that it was not at all cleaned.  I called Mc Puff and said I wanted my money back since I wasted my time last time and had to pay for a repairman to tell me I needed to clean the vent. I also asked them to come back and redo the vent.  They did come back and do the vent.  They also reinspected the fireplace at my request and this technician said I did NOT need new chimney caps.  He did say I needed to seal the chimney (which the first technician never said).  I asked about having my money refunded and the technician said he needed to speak to the manager about getting my money back.  I called three times and every time I got the same answer.  They needed to speak to the manager.  I asked to speak to the owner and never received a call back.  If they had no intention of refunding my money, they should have said so upfront so I wouldn't waste any additional time.  For a simple dryer vent cleaning, I had to stay home and miss work for two appointments as well as the appointment with the repairman.

I will definitely not use Mc Puff again.

They are respectful. Sometimes contractors aren't on time and clean. They just clean the chimney, and I don't have to worry about my house. They're a local family, though I don't know them personally.
