My two story colonial house is about 60 years old. We bought it in 1990. At that it had hot-air ducted heating system on the first floor without central air conditioning. We contacted several HVAC contractor for adding the a/c unit. All of them said that it was not possible in my existing equipment and recommended installing a separate a/c system. This contractor installed a cooling coil in the existing unit for $3,000 material and labor. Since it was done in December, I waited until now so as to insure that it worked alright. It does. The house also came with a add-on enclosed porch (a Florida Room) that did not have any climate control. We had added a direct vent fireplace that made the room usable in winter but too hot in summers. Last fall we removed the fireplace which was an obstruction and an eye-sore. This contractor provided and installed a LG inverter that provides heat and cooll air without taking up floor space for $5.000. It had a slight problem. The contractor responded next day and fixed it satisfactorily. The unit works fine now.
I would like to post my comments as follows;
This contractor is smart as well as honest unlike some others who are either smart but greedy or honest but mediocre. I needed to add a central air-conditioning unit to my existing system. Some other HVAC contractors had said that it was not possible and advised me to install a separate system. This contractor did the job successfully at a much lower cost than that of a separate new system. The a/c unit works well. He also installed a ductless heating c** air-conditioning device in my enclosed porch at a price significantly less than that quoted by an “authorized” dealer. His after sale service is also prompt and satisfactory.
