PLATT'S HOME FURNISHINGS

I live in California and the chairs were for our beach house in NJ.  when the chairs arrived and were flimsy, unstable and looked chinsy compared to the rest of the quality furniture in my house.  I called Platts and spoke with the owner and asked if i could return the chairs.  She said they allow no returns and it says so on the receipt (they MAILED me my receipt AFTER my purchase and never told me this polcy in advance when i purchased the chairs on the phone).  Then I asked if i could exchange them for more solid chairs or outdoor furniture (so they wouldn't lose the income from my business) - again they said no refunds OR exchanges.  I was never ever told this prior to my purchase.  I cannot believe a company would have such a policy and now even with the chairs breaking every other week, they won't take them back.  I brought them back to the store and disputed payment with american express.  Hopefully American Express will protect my consumer rights.... but STAY AWAY from PLATTS!
