I really do not like doing this but after trying to change my filter in my HVAC last night I had to write this review. The two men who serviced my house were very unpleasant from the start. They showed up thinking I was just getting a quote when I had scheduled the service. Once they started the job this is when I knew there would be a problem. The machine they brought in the basement to connect to my HVAC unit left a dirty trail throughout my house. I assumed they would clean it up and they never did. Every vent that they cleaned in my house had piles of dust all around it. And not just a little but a lot. I know my vents/ducts were dirty because I had never had them done in the 3 years I have lived here and who knows if the previous owner ever had them cleaned. When the service was completed I was giving the man my card to pay and he kept arguing a price to me that was not given to me on the phone. I kept telling him this wasn't the price agreed upon on the phone and he needed to call his boss. The entire conversation was very unprofessional. When they left I turned my air conditioning on to find they had moved the dampers in my ductwork and only the one side of my house was getting any air. The pressure was so strong it literally lifted the vent in my laundry room out of the floor. I knew something was wrong. I had to call them back and they had to send another crew to see what the problem was. The original crew not only moved the dampers, they also left my condensation pump unplugged and water was all over my HVAC floor. The new crew were very nice and cleaned it up and told me the guys who were originally at my house had already been warned of this. I also told them about all the dust near all the vents but I had already cleaned it all up. They apologized. Once the dampers were set correctly they had me walk around the house to make sure the air was good. This is where I found 1 bathroom and two bedrooms still had vents covered with tape from the cleaning. I had to remove them. A few weeks have gone by and it was time to change my HVAC filter and this is why I had to write the review. I went to change it last night to open it up to find the filter shoved in and folded down inside the unit. I literally have about 2 inches of space to only slide fingers in to grab the filter and change. This took me about 30 minutes to get out with screw drivers and hangers because of the tight space. There is no way someone didn't purposely jam the filter in there and crush it inside. It literally falls in place. This is where I had it and had to write this review. I know this is a long review but the overall experience with this company was horrible. Paying over 630 dollars for a subpar service is not good enough. I honestly feel like I was robbed. Please be careful booking with this company, I do not recommend.

The Tech was nice and seemed to know what he was doing, but didn't appear to have all the necessary equipment to complete the service as it was explained to me. The disinfecting of the ducts was done with a fogging device. He did not have it so instead used a spray bottle to spray a solution into each vent. During the service the tech dropped and damaged the humidifier on my furnace. The company was initially unresponsive, so I had to contact them. They requested that I order he part ($180+) and send the receipt to them for reimbursement. They apparently feel that is too much and want to give me $50 for it. Their corporate offices we're unresponsive and I need up having to go through the BBB just to be the $50 offer since all my emails to them went unanswered. My recommendation is to stay away.

I work for a pediatric dentist, we are on the second floor and have meter parking. The first time one year ago we used COIT they didn't bring a portable cleaner but luckily was able to get a spot out front. They were very nice however the stains in the carpet came back up after 2 weeks. But since their customer service was so nice I decided to give them a second chance and one of our other locations even used them. I scheduled an appointment for them to come out on a Saturday, the window was from 10:00am-12:00pm I scheduled it weeks in advance so it was on a day we were closed. We got all the furniture off the carpets prior to the appointment. I came in on Saturday my day off, live 30 minutes away, had to bring my 2 year old daughter with me. at 12:00 after already being here for 2 hours the tech calls me and says he's on a huge job and cant get here till 2:00. I said that's unacceptable I cant stay that long and I cant come back. They had no other techs to send out and said they'd schedule me on a day that works for me. They also informed me that the tech was late to work that day so that was why he'd be super late getting to me. So now his tardiness effects me, my daughter, my time and my employers money. All a huge waste of time and money. They refused to discount the invoice due to their mistakes and their irresponsible employee so I cancelled the rescheduled appointment and our 8 location business will never use their services again. Good luck!

Coit was extremely responsive and offered to schedule our service the next day. The guy who cleaned our couch was very nice and friendly and did a great job. I asked him spur of the moment if he had time to clean the interior of our car - he accommodated us and again did a great job. The only minor complaint I had was that he blocked our driveway and our neighbors' driveway with his van and equipment (there was another Coit vehicle there and he pulled up behind it). Luckily, our neighbors didn't need to move their cars while he was there. Also, he didn't have any paperwork with him, so he couldn't give me a receipt and I had no record that he took our outdoor cushions with him to be cleaned in their shop. However, the cushions were returned on time and they look great. Overall, pleased with their work.

Worker looked young but said he was w/ them 7 yrs.  After he steam-cleaned the kitchen floor, it was so wet that I commented to him.  He told me it would dry, but 4 hrs later it still looked like a flood.  He wet the tile floor sooo much that all the cabinetry and kickplates absorbed the solvent, swelled and popped open at the seams.  Thousands of dollars of new cabinets ruined.  Back and forth w/ the company for a couple more months to get them to pay for half the repairs.  A nightmare.

I wrote to Coit via the messaging on Angie's list giving the them gist of the review I was going to submit. I sent h message of 10/15/2013 and, as of yet received no reply.

As a salesman myself, I can say that my wife was not handled in a way that either satisfied her or made her want to recommend your company. Customers typically to tell twice as many people about a bad experience with customer service than they do about a good one. Depending on the industry, between 5 and 10 people are told about an bad experience. Today, the dangers of negative word-of-mouth have been greatly amplified by the Internet and the power of social networks.

For what it is worth, here is the review:

The two young men that came for Coit called and said they could come early. The problems started upon arrival. My wife, when she called the company, was told that our job would cost "around $350.00". She had estimated the number of registers and given the size of the house. When the service men arrived they counted the registers again and the cost was estimated at $465.00 or 33% more than the phone quote. Unfortunately I was working, I would have had them leave. My wife had them go ahead.

The young men were polite and worked quickly with little muss or fuss, I didn't watch them but they got to all of the house and I could hear the work being done. Today, while we were talking about it, my wife said noticed they didn't take the covers off the grates and blew through them. I pulled several covers off today and found that there were still cobwebs in them. Watching videos on Angies's list I see that they recommend vent service where the covers are taken off and high pressure air blown through a hose placed down in the registers.

One other point, a side table was not replaced after the job was done.

Today, we received a call from Coit asking if we were satisfied. My wife spoke to the woman who told her that "no one from Coit would ever give a quote over the phone" and wanted to know the name of the person who.told her that.  She then said that if it were her, she would have told the service people to leave, if that happened. She also said that my wife should have followed the guys around to make sure the job was done right. Actually, I would have been happy if she had just offered to meet us in the middle on the price vs. the quote. She did offer to have the service men come back. I am not sure that doing this again with your procedures will make much of a difference besides the fact I work from the home and do not have the time for the disruption.  I do applaud Coit for at least calling to see if we were satisfied, however, if you are going to call, do not get off the phone with the customer still unsatisfied.

For the amount of money we spent on this service and the mediocre results and follow-up, I would not recommend these folks.

Had service done December 2012, that left me with chips in my tile floors, laminate hardwood damage, and water coming in from a basement window, on top of my grout left in varied shades from the cleaning. Conversations with the owner resulted in her yelling at me that my laminate floors weren't installed right and how could I possibly expect my tile to be perfectly clean in color. No I'm sorry, no accountability...nothing. I called the corporate office who recommended a full refund to which the owner only agreed to a $350 refund on a purchase well over $1000. Avoid this company at all cost as there is no reasoning with them, and they do not stand by their 100%satisfaction guarantee.

Initially, this looked nice but within 12 mos., the grout started to look stained again. The technician who first applied the Color seal did not write down the color he used on the invoice. They say that there's a "warranty" for the process but this is a joke when you read what happened next: The second guy who came out in Sept. 2012 to "touch up" the stained areas used the wrong color of grout seal, so I now have 2-color grout. They also refused to apply the 40% off coupon we had forgotten to give them in Sept. 2012, even though we had mentioned the coupon when scheduling service and the coupon had not yet expired when we called and reported the color problem a few days later.  Finally, after numerous phone calls,  a guy came out in Dec. 2012, looked it over and said he would have to have a "technician" return and fix the problem. Never heard from them again. There was no response from the owner in the past year, despite numerous emails and phone calls. I have decided to file in Small Claims Court because they ruined the bathroom floor and refused to take responsibility or uphold their so-called "warranty".

What I liked about them is that when they were finished with the carpets it was almost dry.  They don’t do a deep cleaning and that is the difference in the quality of the work between them and another one I used before.  I had someone before that was an individual, he scrubbed the carpet with a scrubber, and then he came back with a machine to clean. I wasn’t satisfied with the upholstery cleaning.  I wasn’t really happy with the quality of that because it was streaky, they did offer to do it again but I didn’t pursue it.  I liked the quickness of it; they came in and it didn’t take all day to do what they needed to do.  So overall, the time they took and the dryness of the carpets is what I liked the most about the service.  They were very cordial, very friendly and very cooperative.  The one that came here was professional but not that friendly.  I would love to use them again if they scrub clean the carpets before using the machine.

Technicians were very nice on actual day of service.
However the experience I had the next day with customer service and the President of the Company, Lori, (as listed on the BBB) was appalling. Instead of apologizing, all I received were accusations that problems were there before her company came in to service our home. In addition to that, just not listening to any comments from me, cutting me off in between sentences. Not even acknowledging that there are multiple pictures that show our structures without damage to them prior to their services.
It's odd, the back of the invoice says 100% money back guarantee after they reclean, yet when I asked for my money back all I got was, I'll send you $50 for the trim and $10 for your chipped tile. This obviously prompted follow-up with the BBB and Angie's List. It's one thing when something goes wrong, it's another thing when a company won't stand behind their product. If an F- were available, this company deserves that.

"I'm so sorry that Member was not completely satisfied with our services. At COIT we strive to put our customers at ease and fulfill all of their expectations. We fully understand how stressful it is to purchase a new house and make it a home. We enjoy being able to help each customer achieve the deep down clean feeling they are looking for. Everyone here at COIT is deeply upset that Member is unhappy and we hope that she gives us the chance to show her what an excellent job we can do in the future."

The company had a full-page in my local newspaper, advertising 40% off "Hardwood Floor Cleaning - Intensive Cleaning extends the life of your wood floors." I made an appointment for today (Sat.), 10 a.m.-12 p.m. for an estimate and, if I desired, they could immediately do the work. The website states: "Wood Floor Cleaning - COIT?s Wood Floor Cleaning Service extracts hidden dirt from deep within the boards of wood floors and includes a detailed hand cleaning of hard-to-reach areas. A final machine scrub is followed by the application of a shining top coat." My house is 61 years old with hardwood floors throughout that are VERY dirty; for several reasons, I do not want to have the floors refinished, so I was very much looking forward - at long last - to having all of that ground-in dirt actually cleaned ("extracts hidden dirt from deep within the boards of wood floors."
I came home from work on Fri. evening to a telephone message (4:25 p.m.), asking if I could change my appointment time to 8-10 a.m., but the company was closed by the time that I called back. Because this was the one day of the week that I could sleep in, I didn't want to change the time. Nevertheless, at ~8:10 a.m., they were pounding on my front door, waking me up. I answered the door, explaining that they were 2 hours early and asked them to wait ~15 minutes for me to shower/dress. They agreed to wait in the truck, but were again knocking on my door in 15 minutes, before I was quite ready.
A few minutes later, two representatives entered my house. The senior representative looked at my floors and immediately told me that their process would not clean my floors. He explained that their process is intended only for either newer floors or those that had been refinished within the last two years, that, effectively, it doesn't clean the floor/wood itself, but cleans the finish/surface [only]. They offered to run the machine over a test area and, indeed, I could not see any difference whatsoever. In both the ad and on the website, very misleading - and untruthful - and VERY DISAPPOINTING!

"I'm sorry that Member was not happy but COIT was very truthful in the services that we are able to provide. When the technician entered her home and realized that the cleaning could not be performed to her satisfaction, he honestly explained that to her and didn't want her to waste money and be unhappy with the results. Again, I'm sorry if there was any miscomunication but COIT always strives to keep our customers happy."

They were awful, rude, uncaring and totally did not care or take responsibility for ruining the area rug. Had to go out and purchase a new rug for $1200.
Response from Coit Carpet Cleaning & Restoration

"I'm so sorry that Customer was unhappy with the cleaning of her area rug. At COIT we always strive to make each and every customer happy with our services. Due to the fact that Carol's area rug was expensive and very high quality, we took every precaution to make sure it was cleaned thoroughly yet gently. Our technician in our area rug department has over 25 years experience and is still very upset that he was not able to completely satisfy Customer's expectations. We hope that you will give COIT another chance in the future."

Bad.  They said they would come at separate time on the same day to clean the ducts and later to do carpets.  They came within 20 minutes and the duct cleaner was walking over the damp carpets while the carpets were being cleaned.   I had initially wanted to have 3 area rugs cleaned. in addition to the wall to wall carpet cleaning.  They kept trying to sell me on having other area rugs in my home cleaned.  When I said no, they kept lowering the price until I agreed to have more area rugs sent out for cleaning.  They said they cleaned them at their shop and they would be done and delivered within a week.  I received a phone call from someone calling himself by his first name (he did not say he was associated with Coit).  He said he would drop off my area rugs.  I said I would be home on Saturday.  This was one week from the day they picked them up.  He told me he did not work on Saturdays and I would have to be home another day.  A call to the office was not helpful.  The office staff was curt and said they would "see what they could do".  I didn't hear back and called them the following week explaining that I would be home the next Saturday.  They scheduled me for afternoon.  At 7 am that Saturday, a delivery person said they had to drop them off because they had to use the truck and they were in the way.  I said I was expecting them in the afternoon and I would not be home in the morning.  They told me the area rugs would get wet (it was raining that day) because they would have to leave them outside.  The attitude of all the employees I spoke with was "take it or leave it".  I called the office again and they told me if I don't accept delivery of the area rugs within the next 2 weeks they were not responsbile for them.  I explained that I wanted them delivered at a time that was convenient for me - Saturdays.  After 3-4 weeks, and at least 5 nasty phone calls, a Saturday morning was scheduled and two men came to delivery and place the area rugs.  I asked if one was the owner and he answered yes but did not give his name.  While in my home, one these men reached to a small photo that was tucked into a frame on a larger piece of art.  He bent the small photo forward as he apparently wanted to see the artist signature on the large framed print and the smaller photo was covering the signature.  He did this in front of me without asking before bending the small photo.  He then went on to discuss "... Oh I have several of these prints..."   If you want to be treated poorly and have your property disrespected call COIT.
Response from Coit Carpet Cleaning & Restoration

"I'm so sorry that Customer wasn't satisfied with our services. At COIT we always strive to put customer service first. Due to the high quality of your area rugs we were concerned about the rainy conditions and did not want them to get rained on. Again, I'm very sorry if there was any mis-communication and we hope that you will give us another chance."

After having unfavorable experiences with two other major carpet cleaning companies,I turned to COIT for an estimate.  We are a pet friendly office, so there are quite a few issues with the carpeting throughout the enitre office.  COIT showed up on time.  The rep was very professional and friendly.  He measured the office, asked questions as to what our needs were and what we expected out of the service.  He reassured me that our issues would be taken care of.  I received a formal quote the next day via email.  I also received a follow up call from a gal in the COIT offices, and she too was very friendly and professional.  She answered all of my additional questions.  I felt confident in having COIT do the work, and was not disappointed!  The carpet cleaning serviceman was punctual, and professional.  The job took less time than quoted, all of the issues in the carpet were gone- they looked like new again!.
