We had a patio installed in our backyard back in late April/early May. After meeting with my husband and I shortly after first contacting the company, Tom quickly provided us with an estimate of the work to be done, and the actual work started less than a week from when we signed the contract. I was expecting the process to take much longer, and was super happy with how quickly the job was completed. While the work proceeded much faster than anticipated, quality was not sacrificed. We were HIGHLY impressed with the craftsmanship of the patio itself and the stones that Tom used are beautiful. The intricate cut out stone work around our air conditioner and the gutter is one example showing the fine work of Tom and his team. The final result looks incredible and my husband and I have absolutely loved using the patio. It has been more than 2 months since we first had the patio installed and it looks as beautiful as the day it was completed. I could not be happier with the results, and would recommend Tom and his company to anyone looking to have work done in their yard. Thank you so much, Tom!

Princeton Lawn & Landscapes is a wonderful contractor; we can't overstate the superior quality and reliability of their work, which far exceeded our expectations! The crew is exceptional, working like a well-oiled machine - skilled, efficient, tireless and friendly and considerate as well. Tom, the owner, is a true professional. The work was discussed thoroughly in advance of our receipt of a comprehensive quotation (no surprises during or after) and we found prices to be very fair, even before we saw the extraordinary quality of the work. Here's what Princeton Lawn & Landscapes did for us: First, they, very professionally, and with surprising speed and efficiency, cleaned up our 1.5 acres of brambled, mature, badly overgrown bushes and plantings, removed a jungle of ground thatch (including a proliferation of poison ivy), removed a large dead tree and mulched in just a couple of days. Next, they removed, cleaned and rebuilt our extensive aging paver walkways and terraces. Without exaggeration, the results were close to miraculous! Great care was taken at every step of the work. The crew took notice of even small details, which made the final result that much better. Tom takes pains to recycle everything possible (an important consideration for us) and neatness and cleanup are obviously emphasized. Princeton Lawn & Landscapes will be doing work for us every year from now on.

The yard behind our new house was mostly an extremely overgrown garden with gravel paths. We had Tom and his crew convert about half of that area to lawn, and we are very happy with the results. Due to the extremely wet summer, our yard had become completely overrun by large weeds by the time that Tom got to it. Unfortunately, Tom’s crew was delayed several times by rain and by extra work elsewhere caused by the wet, weedy conditions. When they finally got to it, they cleared the area of gravel and dense vegetation very quickly, installed drainage near our house where necessary, and installed a sod lawn. In total, they took 2.5 days. Throughout the process, Tom was communicative and made sure he understood what we wanted him to do. We opted not to use herbicide before putting down the lawn, and Tom was accommodating to this request. We followed Tom’s directions on caring for the sod, and the lawn still looks healthy and full now, six months later.

The owner, Tom, is great. Very friendly, thorough, and thoughtful. We've had his crew do a lot of work for us over the past 18 months, and they've always done a very high quality job. Strongly recommended.

The project went great. Tom, Mital and team went above and beyond to make it all come together beautifully. Tom put a lot of thought into the layout of the reconfigured flower bed to create a fun little "secret garden", and tried to save as many of the pretty plantings as possible. He really appreciated my priorities in making it all maximally kid-friendly. When the trees we wanted were out of stock, he brought them in from a few states away -- a really remarkable effort to keep us satisfied. The rubber mulch area turned out great, with lots of thought put into the treated wood border, keeping the whole thing level, and to get ahead of any potential drainage issues. When they installed the patio, he made the extra effort to ensure that it had appropriate drains set up, and constructed nice stone steps to match the rest of the house. Little details stood out to me, like the way his guys carefully cut the bricks to precise shape to make sure that the patio seamlessly merged with the walkway and drainage grate. I was impressed with Tom's thoughtfulness and generosity at every stage and would not hesitate to recommend him. I have already brought his team back in to do some new work on the front yard and I expect to be seeking out his team's services for years to come.

I highly recommend Princeton Lawn and Landscapes. Tom Rinehart designed a plan to lessen maintenance and bring beauty and `cohesiveness to my landscaping. He was responsive to each of my calls or emails and on the property daily. The site was clean at the end of each day by his diligent and professional workers. I found Tom to be a congenial and fair person, working to please me. I chose PL&L over two comparable bids and will surely employ this company in the future.

It could not have gone better. I first met with the owner Tom Rinehart five months ago and he tirelessly and patiently worked with me from design through selection and execution of the project. I have had many experiences over the years with contractors and landscapers and this is the first and only time the cost was not an estimate but the number actually meant something. The cost was the cost. Usually an estimate is a license to add on extras. In this case, the cost was to the penny. Extras, whether functional or aesthetic, were borne by PL & L. They were constantly adding ideas and plantings just to make the project better at their expense. This is simply just not done. Their team was efficient, polite, and non-intrusive. Tom's lovely and thoughtful assistant Mital keeps all the communication channels up to date. They are very good at communication. They are transparent. I can not speak highly enough of the care and the attention to detail and the overall results for this project. I can't wait to save up some money to do another project with them.

We just talked to them and I have not used them yet. The price was on the higher side. It was too expensive, that's why we chose not to use them. They came out very promptly and the guy talked to me. It is just that the price structure is too high for me. My experience with them was very nice.

Response from Princeton Lawn & Landscapes

"We appreciate every review posted and try to learn from each review we receive. We were not surprised we were not the lowest bidder on this project. At Princeton Lawn & Landscapes, our intent is to be the highest quality provider, not the lowest priced provider. We provide a 5-year warranty of all our hardscaping projects which explains why we were not the lowest bidder. As our 28 A ratings testify, we offer superior quality and great value but not the lowest price."

Princeton Lawn plowed me out from the blizzard.  They were quick, punctual and did a great job.  They plowed my driveway, shoveled my walkways and even cleaned the snow from my car.  I highly recommend them!

We were quite pleased with the result which was tasteful and very complementary to the size and architectural style of our home. Tom was well organized; pleasant to work with; prompt in responding; receptive to followup feedback and requests for adjustments; present during much of the work to provide detailed instructions to his crew; gave a fair price and was able to procure the needed plants late in the season. His crew worked in a very coordinated and efficient manner. Good follow through, follow up and value for the money. We would work with him again.

We purchased a home last winter and watched what seemed to be a healthy lawn die off over the summer (despite watering the lawn all summer long.). The previous homeowners told us they had performed a lawn rejuvenation and that the work was done by Tom and his team at Princeton. We called Tom to come take a look and learned that the previous owners paid him only to do a reseeding despite his advice that a more extensive effort was needed. He walked us through the problems: heavily shaded lawn area, very compressed soil, significant competition from tree roots for nutrients, and grass that wasn't terrible shade tolerant. He gave us a plan and a quote - aggressively aerate, add a layer of screened topsoil, starter fertilizer and a new hybrid seed that does well in shade. He told us he'd be more expensive, but he also guaranteed his work and said he'd be back each week this fall to check progress, reseed areas that were thin, blow leaves, put down a winterizing fertilizer and cut the grass with a walk behind mower. Next spring, he'd return again to reseed areas in need. I asked lots of questions and Tom was both patient and thorough in answering every one. He and his team delivered as promised. He aims to earn your business by earning your trust. I couldn't be happier. Yes, he is more expensive, but he is worth it.

It went very well and we would certainly use them again.  The initial consult was professional, the workers were excellent (they set expectations appropriately and overdelivered).  They even came back again to fix up several items (gratis) which were a result of a miscommunication.  Very happy with the service.
We also had them do a fall cleaning of our landscaping as well and they did wonderful on that too.

Summary is that we would not use them again and in 20 20 hind sight would have gone in a different direction. Spent too much time managing what should have been a simple transaction.

Looking at Angies lists for potential providers I contacted several businesses. After the first phone call to PL&L, they indicated they would get back with a quote. At that time, I was still in contact with other service providers.  We wrote an email through Angie's list to contact PP&L again to ask if they going to offer a quote.  At that time they asked for a second chance. Dav from PL&L came to the house, gave a quote for rototilling services to beak up the soil in the vegetable garden, agreed to a time and price which we shook hands on. He indicated he was to follow up with an email with everything in writing. At that time, I stopped looking for another provider. The timing was important as we had ordered plants and needed to get them into the ground when we picked them up. Luckily, we put off the pick up date a week longer than we thought the provider would need.

As a price comparison, to rent a heavy duty tiller from Home Depot would have been approx $100, with truck rental another $50. Cultivators which only cut in about 2 inches were cheaper. I would have done the work myself as I have in the past but was coming off a bad back and did not want risk a  re-injury. The quote from Princeton Lawn was $550.

There was no follow up email from PL&L and had to follow up again when I did not hear form them after the date they were to provide the service passed. They then indicated they  would come the next week. Again a no show and no call. I  emailed and indicated they needed to finish by the end of this week. They showed up on May 22 and took 2 tries to complete.  The first time, they brought a light duty tiller which I questioned the workers on the adequacy of their equipment. They left without letting me inspect. Having just looked at their work, I was terribly disappointed. They appeared to have moved around the top 2 inches of top soil and peat moss I laid down. The owner, Tom, called, and said they were coming back again to get it right. He also came to inspect personally. At the end, the rototilling was completed to my satisfaction. To make amends, they also deducted $100.
Response from Princeton Lawn & Landscapes

"Our services are in great demand and we did not get to this job as quick as we should have. The Customer requested tilling to a depth of 4 to 6 inches The depth measured 5 to 7 inches after we tilled. I am the owner and I measured it myself. We embrace diversity in our staff and our customers and strive to treat all types of folks with respect. In my opinion our team was not treated with respect. We would never work for this customer again."

Fabulous - Tom responded to my inquiry immediately, a proposal was presented very quickly, and the work began just a feel days later.  The crew worked nonstop for 3 days.  Everyone was super friendly, responsive, and professional. My husband described the crew as working as if they were working on their own yard because they were taking such care.  We will be using this service now on an ongoing basis, for weekly mowing, seasonal clean-up, pruning, etc., and for whatever else comes up!
We live on a decent size lot, an acre, and the yard and beds, shrubs, etc., had not been maintained for a long time, prior owner made some bad selections, etc.  So, this was a big job.

They dropped off a crew of completely incompetent boys who brutalized my small garden.  The trees they "pruned" were clearly damaged.  One previously flourishing small pine started turning brown a few days later and seems to be dying.  They also damaged the flagstones and got polymeric sand on the steps and windows.  The polymeric sand had holes and weeds in it a couple of days after they applied it.
These people should not be allowed near any living things.
Response from Princeton Lawn & Landscapes

"Every single statement made by [name removed] conflicts with evidence that is being submitted to Angies's List The men she attempts to demean by calling "boys" are between 25 and 37 years old as their driver's licenses indicate. She claimed at the time they did not speak English, however they are fluent in English. Pictures of all seven evergreens clearly show they were not damaged Pictures indicate that that the very old flagstone is not damaged. In fact it looks very good for such an old patio. These pictures that are also being submitted to Angie's List. Two small broken pieces of flagstone were pointed out to [name removed] prior to the cleaning of the patio which she acknowledged at that time. After completion she claimed that those to pieces were broken during cleaning. She became very agitated and said she would not pay us. And in fact she still owes money to our company. Written notification was given prior to the work that stated the bill would be $685. A copy of this email is being forwarded to Angies's List. We are still attempting to collect that debt. There was no polymeric sand on the windows. It is common knowledge the polymeric sand would not likely adhere to such a glass surface. If it did it could be easily removed. There was no polymeric sand on the flagstone. if there was it could and would have been easily removed. We have 24 previous reviews. 21 A ratings, 2 B ratings and one C rating. Our body of work speaks clearly to our consistent quality and credibility The pictures being to Angie's List speak clearly to the credibility of this review."

Dave and the crew were great, punctual, worked hard, and left no mess. The stone work and shrubbery look excellent. After 10 days of watering we have an amazingly green grass lawn for the first time. We are planning to use Princeton Lawn and Landscaping for our regular lawn maintenance from now on.
