Prior to contacting Mr. LaGrotta, I had received estimates from several large local companies for this job. All of them wanted to replace not only the 20 year old a/c unit, but also my fairly new furnace, and gave me estimates of between $6,000 and $8,000. When I told them my furnace was fine, they responded that they were "throwing in the new furnace almost free". Trouble was that I didn't have that kind of budget! I was referred to Mr. LaGrotta by a friend, and when he came over, he agreed with me that the furnace was fine, and offered me several options for the air conditioner. Mr. LaGrotta was extremely knowledgeable, and I signed a contract with him that day. He performed the work as soon as the new unit came in, which involved installing the new a/c unit and replacing the pad it rested on, disposal of the old refrigerant, new tubing and coils, and some new ductwork. As a little bonus, he fixed a problem with the registers in my basement at no charge. The new a/c works great, and I would recommend Mr. LaGrotta's services wholeheartedly.
