Work was performed to my satisfaction, but there was a misunderstanding on the quoted price. Rates are higher than those paid for surgery.

1st service call - plumbing service arrived at the home and was let in by caretaker. A functioning water fill supply line was replaced, with no clear indication that there was a problem with the line. Natale Jr. stated "The system was cold, so I couldn't figure out what was wrong". This essentially was a "no heat" call, which is why the system was cold, and one would have hoped that the plumber would have fired up the system to address. Returned for a second call, at which point I was present and had the system running. Worst business ethics I've experienced in 15 years of home owning, and I've live in this current town for over a decade. Natale Jr. was called to address a leaking steam system. The service person was comfortable using expletives from the moment he arrived, indicated a steam heat system should lose enough water daily that it needed to be filled manual each day as a normal working system, and clearly did not want to bother to do the work. Commented "I hate working where there is a renter and an owner..." There are at least three units losing steam/water - no interest in assessing leaks present. Identified a leaking pipe that would have been evident on first call as well. Would never recommend and would not want my family home with this service representative in the house. PH Westfield, N

$200

Called at 8:30 in the morning and they came by 9am. They were able to remove the piece and replace it right away. While bleeding the line the son came to give me the bill - 30 minutes later - for $47!. I was told they bill by the job not time. I told him I thought this would be in line with the service he provided a year ago and he told me he was never at my house. I'm now thinking there may be another Natale plumbing or similar spelling. He then barked and quot;what's fair- you want to pay me $200?and quot; As I'm writing a check for $200 I'm thinking it was a $125-$150 job. No real materials and 35 minutes!

Fast, work seems OK, I'll know more in a day or two if seal holds. Pricing - terrible.

Response from Natale Jr. Plumbing & Heating, LLC

"The job entailed dropping a hot water system down to repair a leak in the cement floor, repairing the leak and bleeding 3 zones. The $200 we charged him barely covered the costs (direct and indirect). While we try to strive to make our customers happy, in this case, reducing his bill, we understand that not everyone is appreciative. We stand by the job we did and will continue to provide excellent service to our many loyal customers."

I had a great experience with this plumber. From the time I placed the phone call, which was answered by a live person, until I had a brand new water heater installed was 3 hours. They worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done and cleaned up after themselves. It was great to have them haul the old water heater away. I was quoted a price and that is exactly what I paid when he was finished. I now have a plumber I can recommend to others.

These guys did a okay job and charged a lot. They were very responsive, and they came out ahead of time to scope the job out and make sure they would have the tools and equipment they needed. It was pretty easy to get them to come on short notice -- I think our appointment was about 5 days after we called, and 2 of those days were on the weekend. Once they came they were polite and professional enough. The jobs weren't particularly difficult, but I had just moved in and had a lot going on and when it comes to gas and water pipes I just don't want to mess with it, so I decided to hire a plumber. Two guys came, one of whom was an and quot;apprenticeand quot; type, and they spent about an hour to an hour and a half at our place. For this they charged $925, and since the materials they needed couldn't have cost more than $50-100 (dryer vent, short gas hose, short water hose, hook up for water pipe), that comes to nearly $600 an hour. They installed the dryer vent through the foundation, but have it sticking out directly under where my hose's hook up is outside, so if I turn it on without a hose attached (say to clean a tool), it sprays water all over the vent. They also damaged the stucco on the outside noticeably, which I think is to be expected, but maybe they could have done slightly better for $600 an hour. The gas line was fine. For the water hook up for the fridge they attached a valve to the pipe going to the sink. Then they ran a line through the lower cabinets over to where the fridge goes. They drilled holes through each cabinet wall to do this. The holes were not well drilled, and in some cases they drilled them almost in the middle of the wall, so I have a water hose running through the middle of my cabinet. According to my fiance, who watched this part of the process, the apprentice was doing the drilling. This is the part I'm least pleased about. Again, for $10 an hour maybe this would be acceptable, but for $600 an hour it seemed like a poor quality job.

These were all small tasks. For a big/complicated job, maybe they would be better. But I'll probably try someone else next time I need a plumber.

"Thank you for your feedback. Please understand that the pricing is done by the job and not the hour. There is more to the cost than direct costs (labor and parts). Each of your jobs were priced separately but because they were all being done at once, the overall price was reduced. Hopefully this knowledge will help your understanding. We wish you the best of luck in your new home."

After Hurricane Irene, I decided to get a new sump pump and an additional water powered emergency back up pump. I'd gotten estimates from 3 other plumbers and companies. They were all over the place! Finally, I contacted Natale Jr Plumbing and Heating . Denny, the owner called me back within a couple of hours. He came to my house the following morning, at the exact time we agreed upon. He examined the job and thoroughly explained exactly what he would do. He also saved me alot of money by explaining that I did not need a lot of the extra work that was suggested by another company.I was very impressed with his expertise, professionalism, and fair price. Surprisingly, Denny said he could do the job that day if I wanted.. I had him do it. He also replaced a sink check valve for me. Denny and his colleague, Gary, worked diligently and completed the job in 11/2 hours to my satisfaction. It was a pleasureable experience dealing with Denny, Gary, and his wife , Jeannette. I now feel I have a friendly, dependable, plumber whom I can call and I will get a prompt response!

My mother's basement was flooded a foot deep with water during Hurricane Irene. A family member pumped it that same day, August 28. At first Mr. Natale thought he might get there to replace the water heater on the afternoon of August 29, but his contact person called that afternoon and said the soonest he could get there was 10 AM the next morning. The contact person explained that he couldn't do the work sooner because he was pumping out other people's basements. He and his coworker arrived promptly at 10 AM. He told my mother that she was a long-time customer, and so he came as soon as he possibly could. He said her pedestal sump pump was not a reliable type, and he would install a submersible one. He told us exactly how much it would cost beforehand. I asked him the age of the damaged water heater, and he kindly stopped to read the year on its label to me. He and his coworker got the job done in about an hour (amazing!), even though there were 4 other men carrying wet boxes and other material out of the basement at the same time. He arranged for them to dispose of the old water heater along with the other things they were taking out. That was fine with my mother and me.
