About us

In operation since 1992, we are a premiere rated video transfer & duplication service serving all of Bergen County, northern New Jersey, and the New York Metropolitan area. We digitally restore and transfer std 8, Super 8, 16 mm film, and most videotape formats to DVD and MP4 files, the latter stored on USB flashdrives. Our services also include hi-res digital scanning of photos, slides, & film negatives (with full restoration if damaged), saved as j.peg files either on disk or USB flashdrives, or printed out on matte or glossy photo stock paper. We also provide audio transfers for: LP's, 33, 45, and 78 rpm records, audio cassettes, and audio tracks from videotape to digitally mastered CDs, and/or MP3 files. Our video tape transfers to digital include most tape formats: VHS, VHS-C, Hi-8, 8mm, Beta, and MiniDV. Starting in November 2019, Bob Modero of Classic Conversions in Rutherford, NJ, digitized a lot of visual footage & material for me: 12 8mm home movies of varying lengths that were shot in the 1950s; three newsreels from the 1940s and early 1960s; 72 35mm color slides; 182 color negatives; 102 b/w & color prints; 314 letters from the 1960s written on really thin airmail stationery; and one audio reel. Most of the material -- especially the home movies and the slides -- was extremely dirty, covered in grime and dust, due to decades of poor storage. Bob cleaned everything meticulously before scanning the given material. Once it was scanned, he painstakingly fixed any remaining problems (visible dust, grime, damage etc.) using post-processing software. The final product was perfect or as close to perfect as the material allowed. Bob stuck to all agreed deadlines and charged me very reasonable prices. With the exception of one short clip that showcased his ability to turn raw footage into a creative, funny, and poignant memento, I did not ask Bob to edit the material, create clips, add music etc. Hence I cannot speak to this aspect of his work, but I'm sure that his performance in this respect is excellent also. In sum, I was very pleased with the project's outcome and recommend Bob without reservations.

Most responsive to my many requests for work on both audio cassettes and photo restorations. I HIGHLY recommend Classic Conversions to anyone seeking very high quality and skilled results. I recommend to all my family and friends- I had a very old audio cassette transferred to mp3 and onto a USB flash Drive. ALSO had some very old photographs restored BEAUTIFULLY. But they offer so much more services as well so you must check them out. Very reasonably priced as well!

Bob did a terrific job of transferring old family movies to DVD.  We ended up with a two-DVD set of very high quality that we gave to family members over the holidays.  Bob was a pleasure to work with, very responsive to our requests and offering very helpful suggestions.  We were especially pleased with his seamless edits between blocks of material, his removal of distortion from what began as old 33mm film, and his selection of accompanying background music, which was very appropriate to the content of the video and makes viewing it much more pleasurable.  His pricing is quite reasonable, and we will be returning to him for more transfer work in the future.

Everything about this experience has been positive.  I located a tape of my late husband singing with a friend, harmonizing, playing their guitars and I can even hear the fire crackling in the fireplace behind them.  
Another tape had a group of dear relatives sitting around the table while my father and mother,  a couple of my aunts and uncles, my brother and my sister-in-law, and my husband shared family humor while the parents and uncles related stories from the past.
All of those people are now deceased except my brother and his wife and it was so special to hear those voices again.....and again....
