Please advise of next step this continues to unfold as days pass we find more and more instances of negligence and shoddy work by this Contractor. We now have water standing in the gutters because there is not sufficient space to allow free flowing.
This is a disaster which I would not like anyone else to have to endure. Please advise what else I can do if there is no response. We have had to pay another contractor to correct the work done by Lord & Williams. I am submitting pictures and Lord &
Williams' contract showing the scope of service he was hired to do.
Authorization to submit a review is not the concern here, the quality of his work is the issue. As indicated my husband is elderly, has had a stroke and is in poor health. Does this mean that he should pay for shoddy work?
Anyone who wishes to contact me (thru Angie's List ) welcome to come and see for themselves the poor quality of work done by the company.
In in his response, he failed to address the charges regarding of the quality of his work or the his integrity, it is unconscionable to take advantage of anyone, and certainly not an elderly, infirm stroke patient in very poor health with limited mobility. This has been a massage "con" job it is not clear whether the job was more than he is capable of handling or he intentionally expected to just collect $XX,XXX.00 dollars from and old man and move on.
Awful. It appeared that there was lack of supervision and possibly the laborers were non-skilled as well as had very little command of English which made communication difficult . I felt a gross invasion of my privacy to have strangers traipsing back and forwards to use my facilities on the first day, July 20th, one of the workers brought a little girl about five who fell asleep on my living room sofa.
- In the demolition process, there was no dumpster and the debris was left on the lawn and Municipal Code Enforcement came out twice to ticket the Contractor. They attempted to mix old wood with new wood but when I discovered it, it was torn out and replaced with new plywood. The roof is still leaking after two trips back to repair it. The down spouts and gutters are not properly aligned and water pours out from the porch roof when it rains.
Substandard furring wood was used, mis-matched windows are installed; some have two locks and some have one; the inside finishing wood is furring wood with knotted and have holes in some places.(grossly unattractive , haphazard and nonprofessional appearance; the window frames are not mitered nor precisely cut; the insulation is showing from places not properly closed.
On the lower porch, only part of the ceiling was replaced and the right side of the porch floor which called for repair was cut out and patched and sealed with wood putty; which required more time than just replacing the flooring boards.
There has been no clean up, nails, insulation, torn roofing tiles/shingles are scattered and saw dust remains on the windows a bottle of soda was left on the roof. When Mr. Williams came back the last time (2nd time) to investigate the cause of the leak, he obsentually found a glove had been left by one of this roofers.
Because the leaks are spreading we had another contractor inspect the work and take pictures of what he found. He discovered that the roof tiles/shingles are not properly nailed down and in some places old tiles/shingles were left in place which should have been replace; there are some open areas and flashing needed to be place over the new wood which had been installed.
I feel that because by husband is old and has had a stroke we were taken advantage of and a very slipshod job was done and we did not received a the standard which would have been done for someone who could inspect the work as it was being done. I spoke to Mr. Williams indicating that I felt he lacked integrity. It has not ended well although he has been paid in full. He indicated for additional money he would repair the roof and/or the floor on the first level. We declined this. He also tried to persuade my husband to give the roofer additional money. Truly unethical. my son has taken a video of the work and the new contractor is taking before and after pictures as he make the repairs needed.

Edit 9/15/15: Now there is standing water in the gutters. Again, I would absolutely not recommend this company.
"The contracted party, [member name removed] made a verbal request not to include his wife in the contract. He requested the contract be written only in his name. All work was approved by [member name removed] and by the State Inspector without complaint. The heartless complaint made by [member name removed] about the worker who arrived a day before the work actually started, for observation of the work to be completed bringing his daughter along is without merit as the child was in no harm’s way while seated on the couch in the living room watching television. The nail that [member name removed] observed sticking out of the floor could have easily been fixed if bought to my attention. The bottle of soda left by a worker was not done intentionally. [member name removed] has no merit in filing a case against Lord and Williams Home Improvement. [member name removed] admitted to having a roof that was 30 years old with pre-existing leaks off and on for over the course of many years. The actual contracted repair work performed at [member name removed] residence was completed 5 feet away from the area in question by [member name removed]. Additionally, the work on the porch that [member name removed] is complaining about on the first floor was done free of charge, as it was not even under the original contract. But then again, [member name removed] would not know this because she was not on the contract. I request to have this false claim by [member name removed] removed as she is not and will not ever contract with Lord and Williams Home Improvement. Respectfully yours, Bobby Williams Lord and Williams Home Improvement"
