I had to supply the caulk because he had run out. How do you come to caulk 8 windows with no caulk??? He did say, he would run to the store - which would have taken 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. He was already late - so I said - use my caulk. I also asked him about two columns that needed to be replaced - what would they cost? He stated, he would have the company call me back - of course that never happened. He was more interested in me replacing all my windows. Even though I had stated, I could not afford window replacements at this time. Window replacement was not high on my list of things which needed to be done this year. I wasted $99 plus caulking. This $99 special was only to get in the door to sell replacement windows - but not to do any real work or work I needed. I could have done what he did and it would of cost me nothing!

On December 20, 2013, the owner Joe Percario came and said that my windows could not be sealed (Untrue since Home Depot, the window installer, is sending a man to seal the window!) and that he could not go up on the roof due to the snow. He said he would return when there was no snow. He also said that his firm was not receiving any money from this voucher. I asked him for a siding estimate for one wall and a roofing estimate for less than 1/6 of my roof. He said he would send the estimates. I heard nothing until I received a letter dated January 10, 2014 requesting I complete an Angie's List review form from, signed Joe Percario. The letter did not mention returning to my home to do the roof sealing per my Angie's List voucher. I left a message with Mr. Percario's assistant, Beata, asking when Mr. Percario was returning to do the roof work and where were my requested siding and roofing estimates. On January 14, Beata sent the siding estimate and did not indicate anything about about returning to do the roof sealing. I then emailed her about the roofing estimate and when my roof vent sealing was going to be done. Beata sent the roofing estimate estimate but again did not mention anything about returning to do the roof sealing work. The roofing and siding estimates did not have measurements indicated on them and seemed very high for one wall and less than 1/6 of the roof. I do not think the estimates are specifically for the work to be done on my home. Mr. Percario did not take measurements of either the roof or the siding. I do not want to do business with a disreputable and unprofessional contractor. Please refund my money.

Response from Joe Percario General Contractors LLC
At this time we are working on getting you your money back for what you payed for. Our company believes in doing the right thing toward all our customers and if Joe said that the windows could not be fixed by using caulk then that is a true professionals recommendation. Unfortunately, we are finding out that Angies doesn't relies that we can not just caulk a window and that be the fix for all situations. Our team will do the inspection of the windows and roof and then do what we know to be the best thing for the new client. If that means telling them that they need new windows and a new roof then so be it. As stated above we will get your money back to you and we pride ourselves on our customer service so, i apologize for the late response on the estimate. We would love to have you join our family of clients many of which have been with us for over 25 years. We as a company would like to help every client including this one. If you would at anytime like to move forward and get the job done by the best contractor in New Jersey please feel free to contact me directly at jay@percario.com. Thank you for taking the time to send this information in and allowing us to learn from it. We are learning that Angies may push one thing but we need to do the right thing not only for our clients but also to back up our family owned company name.

Nothing wrong with Percario but this offer is basically garbage; it's an opportunity for a sales call; how many people actually need their exterior windows caulked? In what way is this a real winterization package for most people? You guys should not be offering this under this name. You really shouldn't be offering it at all.

I was called and promptly scheduled for an appointment. When provider arrived at 6:30 pm he showed me pictures of the exterior of my home which were taken earlier in the day. We then went through my house top to bottom and pointed out that my windows were no longer functional in keeping out air. The provider proceeded to show me replacement windows and quoted a price for said windows. I advised him that I cannot afford to replace my windows. He told me that my windows did not need chalking, so I asked him what I had paid $99.00. He asked me how much I made an hour, but did not want me to respond. His point was that time is money. I understand his point, however, I did not pay $99 to be given a sales promotion. I wanted to winterize my home at an affordable cost. If I were in the market to purchase replacement windows and doors, I would probably contract Mr. Percario. That not being the case I would like to be refunded my money because the advertised services were not provided. Thank you.

Joe is the best!!! They were punctual providing the estimate. Estimate provided in a professional manner with no pressure to sign and assurances that they were there for the "long haul" and to be trusted. After to contract was signed we were told we had a certain number of days to rescind if we chose. (comfort level) . Upon initiation of the job: The workmen were courteous and punctual and deeply attentive to providing top notch service. They cleaned up after themselves and made certain the property looked better than one would expect after such a major change.Even after completion we were assured that from this point onward, for the life of the 12 year warranty, Joe's people now were completely responsible for the roof and the gutters. We have had work done before by other contractors that spread out the job and had to be called repeatedly to complete the job. Unlike them, Joe's people started when they said they would start and finished when they said they would finish and I have to say again that t am impressed with their, professional and concerned manner, attention to detail, and deep focus on the job at hand. All contractors should take their duties as seriously.. I wish I could say more.

His team was very professional and did the entire job in one day. It looks beautiful and his guaranty is excellent. They cleaned up after themselves with very little left to do.The inspector came out and approved it right away with no hassles. Great job guys. The only problem was my Directv dish. I wasn't informed that I should call Directv ahead of time to move the dish to a pole so I wouldn't lose service. When the guys put the dish back, I didn't have any signal. The next day the project manager came out and adjusted it for me to get a signal but it does not work totally. I still need to get Directv out to adjust it properly which will take a week and cost me 49 dollars. Oh well, It the price of learning what to do.
Over the years I have used Percario for multiple renovations/ jobs. Never had a problem as you know nothing ever goes according to plan. Thanks to Joe's great managers any problems were taken care of immediately. I have lived in this house 13 years and have used this co from my first project which was a new roof. I have not regretted it. I am still working on the next set of renovations. Which I know will not be a problem since his project manager on site makes sure he has all relevant permits.

Ever since the new roof and gutters were installed, we have had problems with water leaks in the house. We have called them on several occasions to request a solution, and we have shown them the damage inside the house. They usually disclaim responsibility and say there could be "other factors" causing the leaks. We explaiend we did not have leaks before they installed the new roof. They made a quick fix around the chimney once, but the leaks continued. The gutters are clearly not well installed and don't work properly. There are several spots on our roof and around our chimney that leak. We have recently requested once again a solution to the problem, since we are in the warranty period. Updated 10/28: Our response to Joe Percario Contractors The company?s review of the project is flawed and omits essential elements. This shows us that you have not bothered to do an honest assessment of the situation or take responsibility for your poor workmanship. Surely, your records must indicate that, within one to two years of the installation of our roof, we had water flooding in our living room around the chimney whenever it rained hard. We literally had to put buckets on the floor to capture the water. At the time, we called Joe Percario Contractors repeatedly and finally you admitted that the roof had been installed without flashing around the chimney and were ?gracious? to live up to your warranty and install the flashing that should have been there all along. Of course, this admitted poor workmanship on your part did not compensate us for the cost of replastering our ceiling or painting inside, nor the significant damage to our hardwood floors. At the time, we found it very unprofessional that your firm conducted repair work at our home without consulting us concerning when it would be convenient or providing notice to us so that we could monitor the repair. You simply showed up one day and did some work without leaving any written notice that you had been there or providing us with any documentation of the work performed. Accordingly, your suggestion that there were no problems with our roof for 6 years is completely false. We hereby request an explanation why this repair job around our chimney was not mentioned in your letter. Considering the lack of flashing around our chimney during the initial installation, we have no reason to believe that flashing was installed properly on other areas of the house where we now have significant leaks (Photos #1 and #2). It should also be noted that the sales person from your company who sold us the new roof and gutters, Michael Ahrens, was only with your company a short time and was not experienced when he prepared our contract. Was this inexperienced person also responsible for managing our project and making sure it was done correctly? One example of Mr. Ahrens? deficient assessment/documentation of our job was that there was flashing under the gutters before your company replaced the roof, and when you replaced the gutters, the flashing was not put back. As a result, from day one after the new roof went up, you could see where the missing flashing had been and it looked terrible. Worse yet, you left our home without the same protection that it had before the job. If you read the original contract between us, it says that ?ridge ventilation? will be installed. However, we do not believe this was ever done on certain parts of the roof. For example, see Photo #3 where a series of holes were drilled on the underside of the roof as a primitive way of creating ventilation. Your summary also neglects to mention that in 2011, when John Lee came to look at our house, he admitted that there were issues with the gutters. There were parts of the gutters where the connections were poorly done and were separated and other repairs needed, and he came back to make some minor repairs (again, without consulting with us, giving us any notice that this work would be done or leaving any documentation that it had been done so that we could confirm it had been done correctly). These repairs were so trivial, however, that they did not fix the real problems and workmanship. Many different gutter contractors have looked at your work and have been appalled. They advise us that the gutters are cut too short on the ends, are not pitched properly so that water flows towards the house instead of the downspout, and the curved downspouts on the upper part of the roof are parallel to the house instead of away from the house (Photos #4 and #5). Also in 2011, we not only saw John Lee, but Joe Percario himself came to our house to give us his opinion. At the time, we were shocked that he tried to sell us new windows, siding, larger gutters, etc. and said that he would guarantee then that our roof would not leak. It was upsetting to us that Joe was more interested in selling additional services to us than standing by the work we had already paid for (we paid your firm $19,430). Regarding our gutters, we have always used gutter cleaning companies to maintain them for us. Currently, we use Garden State Gutter Cleaning, who come regularly to clean our gutters. For example, in 2013, they already came to clean our gutters on January 19 and July 9; they will come again in late October 2013. We have requested a review of our roof by a firm with higher ratings than Joe Percario ? Ticos Carpentry and Roofing of Maplewood, NJ. We were not surprised that they found at least 3 areas where the roof is buckling that need immediate repair (which John Lee apparently ?did not see? in his visit in June 2013), with problems with the shingles placement and where the plywood is coming up from the wood lathe (see Photos #6, #7 and #8). This buckling could not have been caused by our ?maintenance? of the roof and has nothing to do with chimney repointing or gutter cleaning, but is the result of poor workmanship and improper installation by Joe Percario Contractors. You can see some of the problem areas in the attached pictures, where you can see the shingles are buckled and not aligned in several areas of the roof. We hereby request your explanation why in your view these problems do not constitute deficient workmanship. It is also clear that the roof has deficient flashing in the areas connecting to the walls, which is aggravating the situation, as you can see in the pictures (Photos #1 and #2). Ticos Carpentry and Roofing prepared estimates, one to fix the initial 3 problem areas of the roof and another to redo the whole roof ? you can see their estimates in the attachments, ranging from $3,745 to $16,800. They also prepared an estimate to install new gutters and leaders around the house for $3,050. We do see that we need maintenance work regarding sidings, caulking, window frames and painting. However, we have been forced to delay these repairs because the first step is to get the roof fixed to avoid the water leaks we have been exposed to; after that, we will perform the required maintenance work. It has been a big disappointment for us to deal with Joe Percario Contractors. You have acted unprofessionally, have intentionally omitted important information in responding to our complaints and have not taken responsibility for your poor installation and workmanship of our roof, flashings and gutters.

Response from Joe Percario General Contractors LLC
First, I would like to point out that the roof in question was replaced in October of 2005, not August of 2011. Let’s review the history of the project. On September 14, 2005, the customer signed a contract with us to replace your roof and gutters and repair a small section of facia and soffit in the back of your house. A copy of this contract was sent to the customer in our response. This work was performed in October of that year. Next, I found that the customer had called in a service request that his roof was leaking in June of 2011. At that time John Lee went to his location and inspected the roof. His inspection found no leaks in the roof. He pointed out to the customer that his chimney may need repointing to seal up possible leaks in the chimney itself. Repointing is when you repair the mortar between the bricks to ensure a positive seal. He also pointed out to the customer that his gutters were full of debris and it is his responsibility to keep them clean so that they can work properly. He did clean them for customer at that time at no charge. In June of this year the customer again called to complain of roof leaking. John Lee again went to his house and inspected the roof area. He again pointed out that the inspection of the roof found no leaks in the area we worked on. Based on the stains in your ceiling, he stated that the chimney appears to be the cause of one of the stains. This could include pointing of the chimney, a crack in the lining of the chimney, or other such faults. None of these were in the scope of work in the original project. He also pointed out that there is some bad siding over another area of staining on his ceiling. This siding issue is also not part of the scope of work in the original contract. We can see that we properly flashed the area when we replaced the roof. Finally, he again pointed out that the gutters were clogged with debris. Our company warranty with the customer is for workmanship. Improperly installed items are our responsibility. We have not found any issues that are improperly installed. However, we pointed out to the customer that, as the homeowner, he has a responsibility for routine maintenance on his property. This routine maintenance is not covered in the scope of work of our contract. Gutter cleaning and sealing are his responsibility. Repairing his chimney is his responsibility. Keeping his siding in good repair is his responsibility. Ensuring that the cement flashing is properly caulked and sealed is his responsibility. He sent us a copy of a quote for work that another company says will solve all of his problems. Installing commercial grade gutters will not solve the problem of cluttered gutters. They will just hold more water and increase the backflow of water to unwanted areas. Installing aluminum flashing around his chimney will not solve the issue of a leaking chimney. Installing the aluminum flashing behind the gutters is only required since the gutters overflowed due to lack of cleaning. None of this will solve the issue of degraded siding. Overall, we have found no issues related to workmanship with his roof. We do not feel that we are responsible for any leaking or staining of the ceiling of his property. We sent pictures that document the affected areas were included with our response to the customer. Please note that the time between the install and the first service request was 6 years. During this time many items not part of our project can deteriorate. The customer is refusing to take this into account.

The company's response was prompt although the scheduling staff was unaware of the Angie's List coupon offer. The owner came when scheduled and did a good job of inspecting and videoing the problem areas of the roof. He was friendly and professional and agreed to give estimates on other areas of the house requiring work. The problem is that he has not yet sealed the pipes as per the coupon and has not yet returned estimates on the other jobs. It is possible he was unaware of the maintenance details of the coupon.
Description of Work: The coupon was for an inspection and maintenance of the roof and reseal the area around pipe collars up to 4 penetrations. The roof was videotaped and problem areas identified. The owner agreed to give estimates of other areas of the house requiring work.

Please BEWARE when you work with this company. Do NOT pay them a cent before the job is completed. One of the worst nightmare ever we had working with this contractors. We signed contract back in October 2011 for replacing doors and windows. Defective door was delivered and installed too, even after bringing it to JPCL's project manager. They did not work with us to get it replaced but insisted in repairs, they did not even bother to answer our emails or phone calls. Only after we logged a complaint with Angie's list they responded and delivered us the second door which was again defective and cheap quality. Even this time we did not get any assistance from JPCL. So we tried to contact manufactures agent, who after 100's of emails and phone calls agreed to replace this door. But this time we were brook mentally working on this issue for 16 months. Manufacturer agent did apologies saying in the email that if this third time if we did not get the door installed right then he will refund all the money we have invested towards it. This time we got the door what we paid for and JPCL installed it. But again (reputation speaks for itself) as every time they have done a very cheap job in installing the door and not even done any finishing. Things have started come off and there is a big gap from the wall and the door frame. Its has been 16 month now since we sign the contract with JPCL we still have not got the services we paid for and Joe Percario himself, His general manager Bruce, Operation manager Randy nobody replies our phone calls or response or emails. They all are hiding their faces after taking my money. In my eyes this is STEALING.

I think that the job went pretty well. There were some delays getting started, but that was mostly weather-related. Once, I was notified by the project lead that the job would start once the weather cooperated, it seemed to go pretty smoothly. It took I believe approximately 2 days. A separate contracted company was used to install the new gutters.I was not expecting them to come until the following Monday after the roof was completed. However, they appeared the Saturday before. It all worked out, and it got done before time. No complaints there! SInce the work was done, I have not had any leaks or other roof issues. The ice and water shields installed with the new gutters is great. I no longer have to pay someone to clean the gutters of all the leaves that use to pile up after the fall/winter season.
Description of Work: I had noticed slight water damage appearing in a corner of my ceiling in one of my upstairs rooms. At first it seemed small, but after a recent storm I realized this was the onset of a bigger problem. In reviewing companies on Angie's List, I came upon a "big deal" being offered by Percario to provide a roof inspection for what seemed like a reasonable fee. I signed up for it and made an appointment for the service. The owner Joe himself came out to do the inspection and provided a camera view of what my roof looked like and where the water was probably entering into my home. My roof is pretty new. However, there were probably some short-cuts taken when it was installed prior to my ownership. Joe explained that I needed to re-cement the chimney. He stated I needed to have cement flash done for all of the roof's projections and to install ridge ventilation. Joe also suggested I install ice and water shields along with new gutters. After some back and forth on some details and costs, I decided to have all of the above done. With the amount of storms we were having at the time and those that came afterwards, it was a smart move.

They did not do anything for us except to lose our trust in them
Description of Work: We had damage to the roof of our shed from the hurricane. Since we had used them for the roof of our house, we called them to fix the shed roof (which they did not review when they looked at our house in 2011). They scheduled an appointment. However the person who was supposed to come called us and said our job was too small and it would not pay for him to come. He said he would have a local handyman call us, who never did call. We expected better service for a customer who had recently used them for their house roof and paid full price for it (much more than the discounted 8888 prices we saw recently on Angies's List). I am disappointed with them !!

Response from Joe Percario General Contractors LLC
Our records indicate that we had a representive out to meet with you on 11/10/12. We provided you a price to fix the roof and were also very honest explaining that is would be more cost efficient for you to buy a new shed rather than repairing the roof on the exisiting shed. We did pass your information to a local handyman contractor not associated with our company to see if he was willing and able to help you.

Joe Percario Contractors quote was exorbitant. It was very professionally done. They are an elite service provider, they know they are providing a service to people who are going to pay the extra. That's why they are more expensive. But the person who came out was a Sales Rep who I'm never going to see again. It's not an owner or tradesman. To me, because of the nature of the roofing business being so volatile, I'd like to know that I'm talking with the owner or someone who's got a personal interest in it. All in all it was still a professional and well-done quote. It was just overpriced by quite a lot. I've given them a B because when another one came out they actually went on top of the roof and looked in the chimney and found that I had a broken liner. And maybe that's one of those things that, I'm not on the roof, that I would expect them to try to look for me.
Description of Work: Joe Percario Contractors quoted for replacing my roof.

The service was excellent. They have excellent follow up and maintenance of their products. If I had any questions and needed them to come, there have been no issues and they stand behind their work. I am going to be using them again in the future. The work is high quality, they are professional, and the cost was better than other service providers that provide less quality with the work.
Description of Work: I have used them a couple of times in the last two years. They provided home remodeling on both occasions. They did exterior roofing, siding, addition of a patio and a porch.
