 + -1 moreit was arranged on the phone with their boss Jeff - I texted him pictures of the porch and railing. We agreed on the price and he said he'd send his people as soon as the weather cleared. He did exactly that - we didn't even know it had been done until we looked outside! Now the porch is safe for the winter, and when we get ready for more extensive work, we will certainly keep them in mind.

 + -1 moreI'd asked my contractor, whose judgement and experience I'd come to respect over the course of a few months of a multi-faceted exterior renovation, for a railing company suggestion. Without reservation, he recommended Cusumano Perma-Rail Co. Mr. Cusumano (Jeff) came to my house in mid-December (2016) to explain the installation process and give me an estimate. He was very honest about the time frame and cautioned me that the normal wait time of 6-7 weeks would probably be be a few weeks longer given the usual January/February weather. The Cusumano team arrived, per prior phone confirmation, on 02/23/17. When I say "team" I am referring to the two consummate professionals who worked together seamlessly to install the railings. The finished product is a sturdy, absolutely lovely finishing touch to my new porch. If I'm still around in ten years or so, I'll provide an update!

Description of Work: I needed a porch railing and steps and stopped by the store to see what they had and the salesman was at my house by the next day, He said it would take 6-7 weeks after her measured and that was about the time it took , mabye a little sooner. The job was done and looks great and we are pleased with the outcome.

 + -1 moreIt took a few phone calls to actually get through to someone. They scheduled a visit quickly, and gave me an estimate. We placed the order a few days later. It took them about 6-7 weeks to actually finish the job. The railing looks good, and feels like it's good quality. Obviously, on a product like this, it takes a long time to see if the quality really is top-notch, but it looks good for now. I'd recommend them if you're not in a rush to have a job done, as it can be a somewhat long wait.

Description of Work: Replace front stair railings and added porch safety railings. Took over 8 weeks for install and stair railings came loose within 3 weeks. Did fix but we'll see how long it lasts. Product itself seemed well manufactured.

 + -1 moreFollowing the installation in November, Within a month,my slate steps all started to crack where the railings were anchored into the slate. The installer was there for about 30 minutes and did not use the proper Anchoring Cement. I have called Cusamano several times and was told that he would come to my house to check it out. It is now March 27th and he has yet to come out. My steps are ruined. I called 3 separate railing installers in the woodbridge area. They all said the railings were not installed properly. I had to re-pay have my porch steps re-done then have the railings properly installed.. Jeff Cusamano does not stand behind his horrible work. Please go elsewhere.

Description of Work: Cusumano Perma Rail was punctual and responsive in giving me a quote, taking measurements and returning my call when I wished to revise my original order the following week. I was told I could expect the wait time to be 2-3 weeks for the railings to be made before I could expect installation which was fine. After a month they contacted me to install the support post and then I followed up with them 2 weeks later and was told that the railing would be made that week. After another 2 weeks my porch contractor who referred me to Cusumano called to follow up regarding my satisfaction and I mentioned Cusumano still had not installed the railings and reaching them or leaving a voice message was impossible with a full mailbox. This wonderful porch contactor followed up with Cusumano for me and without a simple phone call, the following Saturday morning Cusumano sent 2 people to install the railings without calling to ask if it was convenient or to even let me know they would be coming to make sure I was even going to be home and they would have access to the required electric. The actual installation of the porch and stair railing took less than an hour but the cosmetics of the footing are not up to the standard I would expect from a company that has been around for so many years and was recommended by a trusted contractor. The overall experience leaves me hesitant to ever use them again or recommend them.

We installed railings on the front steps and porch for safety concerns for our little ones and guests but after installation was completed it completely changed change the overall look of the house in the front (...just as Jeff C. said it would)

 + -1 moreThey were referred by the mason that did the steps. The didn't return phone calls for a long time. when they did set up a time to do the job they didn't show up. I called multiple times and finally got a call back. Once again, they never showed up. With Christmas coming I switched to another (very good) contractor I got from Angie's list. I can truly say they were the least professional, least responsive and least reliable contractors I have ever dealt with in my life.

Description of Work: We used this company to install a pair of railings to our front porch in August of 2009. The pair of railings were standard white aluminum for $550.00. We gave a deposit of $200.00 & paid the balance upon completion of the job. They were very great to deal with. Mr Cusmano the owner, came to our home initially to give an estimate; he was very professional. The job was completed timely & to our expectations; an excellent job & we have not had any problems since railings installed. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs their railings installed/replaced & I would use them again.

The quality of the railings that they produce is remarkable and tailored to very odd spaces. They have no problem making it work no matter what your situation is.
Description of Work: Cusumano Perma-Rail Co built beautiful, anodized aluminum railings in the back of the house for us last fall (September, 2013) and have now completed installation of identical railings for our front (June, 2014).

He told us they would take 2-3 weeks, but it actually took about six weeks because they were quite busy (everything is custom made). They were installed neatly and securely and look great - the workmanship is beyond reproach. Overall, very happy and would recommend their work.

The materials used were second rate and when the front gate broke for the second time, the owner accused me of "abusing" the gate.

 + -1 moreVery good service, very good product. Jeff visited my home by appointment, I explained what I was trying to accomplish (improve safety and utility of stairway for a disabled individual). We discussed alternatives, he listened to what I wanted. Approx. 2 weeks later he returned with the 2 railings and took further measurements. He brought them back two weeks later, after having made some minor adjustments. Working together with an assistant, the railings were installed without difficulty The railings were installed solidly and fit perfectly. I would certainly recommend this company. (Scotch Plains)
