After getting several bids, we chose to hire Dean Weiss and his crew and we were glad we did. His estimate was fair and he and his crew were very professional throughout the process.
Dean Weiss and his crew built a 4ft x 45 ft retaining wall along a the side of a sloped unused backyard area. Careful planning was used to install proper drainage and to accommodate a fence which was to be installed directly adjacent the wall. The crew carefully removed a portion of a wooden railing and plantings which blocked the path for an excavator to enter the area and took great care to replace all the plantings and railing once the job was completed. They also were very careful not to disturb any shrubs planted by the neighbors which were within a foot of the new wall. Once the wall was completed, the area was leveled and a fence was installed (by a separate contractor). The entire job took under 5 days to complete. We couldn't have been happier with the results!

Our experience has fallen well short of our expectation for Dean Weiss Lanscapes.

I first called Dean Weiss Landscapes the third week of June.  I left a message on the voicemail.  After a week I did not receive a reply so I called and left a second message.  After another week with no response I sent a message through the website Monday July 4th.  I got a response later that night offering to stop by our house that week. 

I responded Tuesday July 5th suggesting a few times to meet.  I did not hear anything by Thursday so I sent an e-mail and got a polite, but disappointing reply the next day.  It said that "This was a quick week" and that he was going to be away for two weeks.  We agreed he would follow up when he returned July23th.

I sent an e-mail on the 25th.  After a couple replies we agreed he would come see the property that Friday.  Dean showed up on time and was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and simply impressive.  We reviewed all of the work to be done, our preferences, and our budget.  A quote was to be sent the following Monday, July 29th.

By the second week of August we had not received anything.  Phone messages went unanswered so I finally sent another e-mail on August 18th and another on August 19th.  There was no response until August 25th.

We finally got a quote by e-mail on the 25th.  The items on the diagram did not entirely match the items on the price list.  There were items listed by price that were not on the diagram, as well as items on the diagram that were not on the price list.  The river stones we wanted in the front were not included anywhere, nor was the entire privacy hedge he had suggested for the back area adjacent to our neighbor's patio.

Dean Weiss has an excellent reputation and we have friends and neighbors who have worked with him in the past with great success.  I am sure he is a talented designer and is fair with his pricing.  However, our own experiences this summer have, unfortunately, been very poor.  The difficulty communicating promptly, or consistently plus the delays and strangely flawed proposal has now sent us in search of another company.  It is very disappointing to have to report this, however it has been very frustrating to be starting all over at the end of August when we had hoped to have our work done by now.

I never received a response.

It went very smoothly and without complication. There's not much to say other than that. And the end result looked as though there had never been a hot tub in place. You can't ask for more than that. Perfect.

The work was done pretty much on time and on budget. They were very responsive to e-mail questions and concerns.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. THEY EVEN DID THINGS THAT WERE BEYOND WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM IN AN INSTANT. THEY WERE GREAT IN EVERY WAY.

EXCELLENT! Dean is a very talented landscape designer. Service is impeccable. I highly recommend him. We are so happy with his work that we have made plans to work with him again in the Spring to design and plant the front yard.
