Down Under Waterproofing & Foundation Repair

Walt, Max, and the whole crew were absolutely amazing. This was a HUGE project. We basically had no foundation on the back/ side of our house and the 2nd floor overhang was poorly supported. Prior to us purchasing the house the previous owner added a very large addition on top of a very old and poorly constructed “house” . The inspection at purchase did not uncover the issues that we found about two years after when all of the cosmetic touch ups wore off. Walt’s crew ( Supervised by Max) replaced the foundation wall , added piers under the house, replaced all of the floor joists along with new piers, beams, and headers on the 40ft span at the back of the house. This is just some of the larger items because I would be here forever if I listed everything they had to do. Walt kept us informed during the whole project. From start to finish we were on the same page. The house had so many hidden issues but the crew worked through all of it. The price was very reasonable and less then all of the other estimates from competitors. We didn’t have a bunch of surprise increases along the way. He didn’t try to scare us or sell us anything we didn’t need. They are honest and reliable. The results were amazing and so far beyond our expectations !!! They are all so talented. We couldn’t be happier with our choice of contractors!! They have been done for almost a week and we miss them being here already. I will recommend them to everyone.

Walt came out to my newly purchased home and assessed the situation in my large basement/crawlspace. His assessment of the situation was accurate, professional and fairly priced. He went above and beyond in his explanation so that I could understand the situation in "lay-man's" terms. I had received several estimates prior, and although they recommended many of the same things, no one had explained why. Walt made me understand the process of what needed to be done and why. Once the work began, Walt was hands-on and explained every step of the way. The crew that worked on my house was exceptional. Knowledgeable, dependable, professional, respectful and clean. Once the work was completed, they cleaned up after themselves, and Walt did a final inspection. The work was fantastic!!!! They are my "go-to" guys for foundation, footings, waterproofing and encapsulation! It looks like a completely different space. They are truly a top notch company!!!!! Thank you for everything!

I had water slowly coming in my basement for about a month. After getting a few quotes, I went with Down Under Waterproofing. Walt, Max and crew were fantastic. Basement in our 1960's home had been leaking water for years and we finally made the decision to get it fixed for good. We're really happy we went with Down Under Waterproofing. They explained that a new french drain system with two sump pumps would stop our water concerns in the basement. Once a date was set, Walt and his team were on time and completed the job in the 4 day estimate that was given and our basement has been dry ever since. Down Under gave us the best price and did exceptional work. They've also been easy to contact after the job was complete for any questions we've had. I would highly recommend!

Wow, I could not have been happier with the work. I was very concerned as we were selling the house and it was discovered that a retaining wall behind my property needed repair. This was a really big job and I did not want to lose my buyers. Walter could not have been more accommodating. They came in on time, finished on time and at the cost quoted. I was not even around to ensure that the work was being done, but it was. My buyer was extremely happy with the outcome and the sale of the house went through without a hitch.

Walter and his crew began the work on-time and as promised. The project was handled very professionally, and Walterand his Foreman, Max were$ always available to answer questions that arose during the project. Responses were complete and reassuring, Wórk on the project was steady and organized and I believe the sets of steps that Walter reconstructed were done properly and will last a long time. Rebar was used to anchor the steps to the house and care was taken to build the steps solidly.

It was excellent. The work were fabulous. They were very knowledgeable.

In order to get to the problem of water leaking into the basement the front porch/step had to be taken out. Then they had to dig down to the house foundation. Upon doing this it was discovered no footing was present. The wood was rotten, The work that Down Under did was by far the best work I ever seen. I had one neighbor come by to look at the work as it was being done and she said it was a great job. Max and the crew did what I considered to be above and beyond to make sure the water will not enter into the basement and also how the porch/step was firmly secure. They took care to make sure the grass area and all the debris was clean up this was also outstanding. The owner of the company, Walt gave me a very detailed description of the work that needed to be done. This was given to me one year ago but I wasn't ready until this year to have work done. I am so happy I found Walt's company. I hope the other person who didn't use Down under will read this review and make every effort to contact Walt. I also liked how if I had questions or wanted something explained it was always answered in a way you knew they knew what they were doing. The work took eight days to complete but that is because of the problems that were not seen until the porch was taken out. Each day Max would explain what had been done and what they would do the next day. They arrived each day on time and if they were going to be late I was informed. Also the basement wall was sealed in a way no water will come through. Thank you Walt, Max and the crew for a job well done!!!!

Excellent work. This was difficult, grueling work. Down Under did a terrific job from start to finish, all in four days. They were prompt and very neat, as well. Down Under did an amazing transformation of this previously dank, deteriorated space.

You can't do better than Down Under for your masonry needs! We were selling our home and the steps to the back door were falling apart and needed a speedy repair. Max came over and handled the work easily and professionally. He was quick, friendly, fairly priced and the steps look perfect. I would absolutely use them again. Do not hesitate to call them for masonry work!

A year ago I hired a company that specializes in repairing foundation walls, as mine was collapsing due to weakened footings from shoddy workmanship by a previous waterproofing job. I paid several thousands of dollars (I mean a lot!) to this foundation expert who removed an existing French drain and stabilized the wall. He noted my footings had been compromised but did nothing to support them. Almost immediately my basement began taking in water. Without a French drain or some type transport system there was no way to transport water to the sump pump. The foundation “expert” had no explanation and no solution, Then I found Walt Gural. I could have saved thousands of dollars and a great deal of aggravation and angst if I’d only found him 1st! He is knowledgeable, patient and honest. He knew exactly what the remedy should be and, without laying blame on the previous contractor, supported the footings, re-installed the French drain, added a lolly column for additional support and did all this following consultations with his structural engineer. Walt spent a great deal of time explaining the process and reassuring me (many times) this was the “fix” and that my new, expensive wall from the prior foundation repair was not going to fail. Max is a terrific worker and sets the standard for all the other workers on the job. If you’re spending tons of time researching foundation repair and/or basement waterproofing companies, stop now and JUST HIRE WALT!!

I can’t say enough good things!! Walt came in and gave us a fair price and his team was prompt, professional and all around great. They put plastic up to keep the dust at bay and our basement looks cleaner than it did before. We just had a couple of days of crazy weather and I am beyond thrilled to say our basement is dry! Highly recommend!

They were very responsive in getting back to me for an estimate. He took the time to explain the process and walked me through what I could expect. The team showed up on time for the job. They put down floor protection and as they were doing the work they again took the time to explain what they were doing. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs foundation issues addressed.

The foundation repair seems good; the deck repair was fair.

Great! Walt and his team did what they said, came in and out quickly. They were also clean and put tarps over everything. One small issue was getting a time for them to come out and do the work, but in general everything went well.

From the start Walt was responsive and straight forward. The scale of the project changed significantly from what we initially had quoted to what we elected to do and Walt still provided us with as much attention to detail and attentiveness as if it was a large scale project. In addition, Walt finished the project a month earlier than we originally scheduled. We are extremely happy with his work and look forward to working with him again in the future.

Walt and his crew did a great job. I needed a french drain, new sump, and new sump pump put in to waterproof my basement. Walt explained the job thoroughly, answered all my questions, and had his crew on the job shortly after we agreed on the work. His crew, and Max in particular, were great. They worked Thursday through Sunday to get the job complete as quickly as they could. I'd describe them as professional, friendly, efficient, and meticulous. The end product looks great. I'd strongly recommend them to anyone who needs basement work.

The work was done well and efficiently. Max and Jordan did a terrific job on the crawlspace as well as repairing a basement wall. All of my questions and concerns were addressed. They cleaned up after the job was complete and left the work area as they found it. I would definitely hire this company again.

They were very good. It was awesome. They did a really good job and they cleaned up, and they seem to have fixed the problem, so it was good.

The wall was sanded for placement of 7 fiberglass straps. Some smaller verticle cracks were chisled and sealed with epoxy. Additionally, some touch-up work was done on the stucco layer covering the foundation outside.

I discovered the hole while doing some gardening and the previous owner had neglected to tell me. Walt responded quickly to my call, came and took a look. He provided a very competitive price and the work was completed within a couple of days. Couldn't be happier.
