As a very active Realtor in northern Bergen County, I had searched for an inspector that was diligent, knowledgeable and honest in representing my clients. I specifically sought an inspector who was not concerned whether I would refer him to the next buyer but rather one whose goal was to fully divulge any issues discovered in the Home Inspection and what appropriate actions should be taken.
This search ended over 3 years ago and Jim Cook services all The Gubb Team clients with their full protection as his primary goal. Jim is fully aware The Team would rather 'walk away' from a home with difficult, resolvable issues than 'close our eyes' to a problem.
As an added bonus, Jim patiently answers any and all questions from both the buyer and myself regarding future home maintenance, the home's inter-workings and possible concerns we all might have.
Louise, his lovely wife, sets up his appointments and filters follow up questions while Jim is on the road so response time is immediate.
Reports are delivered within 24 hours !!!
Ask about his Moisture Detection Test if you have this concern in the home you are considering...additional charge.

Jim Cook is a nice guy but when it comes to knowledge about home inspections, I would be very wary. He missed major issues relating to structure and conditions that are clearly visible. In fact, I had to point out several concerns which he then added to his report. Of course, he makes you sign a disclaimer and waiver stating that he is not liable for anything he misses, etc. Save yourself the trouble by not going with Pillar to Post. For the money, they do a subpar job. Do your research on an independent inspector and you are bound to make a better choice. Pillar to Post is a franchise and they try to push all their afilliates onto you...more self promotion.I've dealt with a few inspectors before and this had to be the worst. I wish I could write a more positive review because Jim is a really nice person however I cannot because of the blatant misses in his inspection.

"It should be noted that Member doesn't state what issues he is talking about and never contacted us about them after his inspection. He also posted his negative review a full 2 years after his home inspection. A home inspection is meant to provide the buyer with information about the homes true condition at that point in time so he or she can make an informed buying decision. It is not intended to be a guarantee that a home will never need repairs or maintenance in the future."
