Pros: Mr Cordt, who did most of the work himself, showed up to our the home and gave us an estimate. He explains things very well. The work he did is also well done (as far as we can tell).
Cons: The work itself (mostly, replacing a broken boiler with a new one and changing some pipes) took 5+ days. This struck us as a bit long. He worked from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. After the work was done, Cordts led us to believe that we should wait from a call ,from the town for the work to be inspected and that this could take up to a year. This struck us as odd, so we contacted our town and got an appointment for inspection within a few days. The work failed inspection because of a regulation issue involving the boiler, the chimney liner and the water heater. It is our belief that Cordts was aware of the issue and discouraged us from contacting our town. When we contacted Cordts after failing inspection, they would usually promise to get back to us and we would not hear back from them until we would call back in a few weeks. We understand that it is a small operation but the way they handled this was less than professional.

Paul Cordts performed the work on this hot water heater replacement by himself. He was punctual, worked quickly and efficiently, and as far as I can tell did a wonderful job. He supplied a Bradford White unit of the same capacity as our old unit, and hauled away the old unit when he was done. He also took care of all of the permit paperwork involved. The only complaint I would have is the price. We did not have time to shop around for estimates, so we went with a local plumber who could come get the job done quickly, and all of our expectations were met in that regard. After the work was complete, we requested some estimates on a few other plumbing jobs in the house, and all of them seemed fairly high. We have since had some of that work done by others for much less than the prices Cordts was quoting. Overall I would say he is an excellent plumber, but he comes with premium prices.

He does excellent work. Paul Cordt comes to check the work out himself and usually does the work himself. He is very honest. Upstairs, the toilet bowl is quite old and I asked him about replacing it. He told me he would be happy to replace it, but since the piping is so old, I may find something that would result in a pretty large job. He asked if I was prepared to pay for a possibly very expensive job. He suggested I live with the athesthetics since they work. He could have went ahead and done the work. Four years later, the toilet bowl still works fine and I did not have to spend all of that money. He always calls back promptly.

My original call to them was about a bathroom sink that was not draining. They made a prompt appointment, gave an estimate and set to work attempting to clear the clog. Many hours were spent on this and one of the workmen actually told me to call a different plumber (??!!), i.e. one who specialized in drain cleaning. They were also unable to clear the "clog". Eventually, a different plumber from Cordts correctly diagnosed the problem as being caused by corrosion and deposits from the old pipe. Once the problem was correctly identified, the work was completed in a satisfactory and timely manner. They were very good about cleaning up. They did not patch the hole in the wall themselves, but referred me to someone else who responded promptly and did an excellent job.

Cordts Plumbing and Heating is a long-standing, solid, reputable business. I've used their services many times over the years. I have no trouble getting them to come and they arrive when they say they will. They are also careful with my property.
