Avalon Flooring

Carpet removal was a little less than professional (they left a lot of staples and it was pretty dirty), but I contacted Avalon and they sent a second crew to address my issues--great job. The installers were very professional, clean, quick, pleasant. The sales person was knowledgeable and helpful, as was the estimator, who really coordinated the job. We were very pleased with the quality and price. They were also very helpful with scheduling. We needed about 2 months between the removal of the old stuff and the installation of the new stuff so we could paint the whole place. Since it was a vacation home, we could only get down there on weekends, so it took a long time. They were very accommodating and made it simple on our end.

They guys did a great job and we professional and very pleasant. We had to walk through the work area and they did not mind at all. The work was completed quickly and looks terrific. They did great in all the transition areas. We have some remaining carpeting and the trim looks great. We had the install scheduled for a Friday and i was able to move the date up a day to better fit my schedule.
I have used Avalon before and always enjoyed great service.

It went very well! Tom, our salesperson, was helpful selecting among far too many options for our indecisive brains. Unlike our experience in a different location, we were surprised to learn that carpet prices do not include installation. Good to know!
We selected one carpet for the large, oddly-shaped master bedroom, and a slightly more expensive one for the guest bedroom. Then we did some comparison shopping. They were unable to come up with an exact match, but gave us a recommendation. Both companies came out to take measurements, but the second company was so slow getting back to us, that we went with Avalon.
We did change our order (prior to installation) to use the same type of carpeting in both rooms, and that change went fine. They did ask for either 90% or 100% in advance, a rather odd split, I thought.
The installation happened as scheduled, with two men working very hard from beginning to end, moving furniture with care, and leaving no evidence behind except our new carpet, which is a vast improvement over the decades-old stuff we replaced. No visible seams, either. And no surprises. They took about 3 hours from start to finish.
The other company came back with a price that was much cheaper than Avalon, but between Avalon's professionalism, service, and the finished product, we are content! We would use them again, although we expect this carpet to last for a long, long time!

The customer service was fine, but it wasn't superlative. They were professional. They didn't go overboard helping them out. They were fine.

They were good with the quote and the price and coming out and looking at the kitchen. They did a very good job with the workmanship. They probably exceeded my expectations in pulling up the old floor and laying down a new subfloor and making sure the tiles were glued down and secured properly. We didn't want the kicks down initially on the cabinets but then we decided we wanted them and they threw it in at no additional cost. They were very customer oriented. We are going to look at them again for additional work.

While the tile installation is good, my complaint is that the tilers cut the tiles in my garage. I had spent 2 weeks last summer cleaning, organizing, and painting my garage. In one day I came home to a fine layer of dust over everything in the garage, including many pairs of shoes that I had sitting on a counter, all of the tools, etc. It's everywhere! My boiler system and the hot water heater are in the garage as well. When I complained to the manager, he listened, said that he would speak with the installation manager, and then reminded me that the paperwork I signed indicated that I might experience dust as part of the process. I re-read that part of the agreement. It says that the company will make every effort not to create dust, but cannot eliminate it. It is obvious that there was no effort made at all to prevent dust in my garage. I can't imagine how difficult it is going to be to remove it all. The contract also indicates that Avalon will not pay for or reimburse for cleaning up dust. Needless to say, when I remodel my kitchen, I won't be using Avalon!
