On time, clean work and great results

This is the latest of several times we have used Abma Home Improvements, starting with a complete kitchen renovation at the end of 2007 as well as smaller projects since (deck repair, window shutter replacement, garage trim repair, etc.). Obviously, we have been happy with the service and quality of the work Steve provided.
As far as the sliding glass door project, Steve inspected the existing door, first checking to see if it was still under warranty and could be repaired rather than replaced. He had an Anderson door expert come and inspect it as well. Since the door was over 30 years old and no longer under warranty, we decided to replace it with another Anderson door .
Steve provided the door options and directed us to a showroom that had full size doors on display. Once we chose the door, Steve provided a cost breakdown of both the door and the installation as well as the time frame for ordering the door and completing the work. Steve committed to removing the old door and putting in the new door on the same day to avoid any overnight weather issues. They returned to finish the interior trim work a few days later. 
When Steve and his crew arrived to install the door, they reviewed the specifics of the work with me. When they realized the new door was a little smaller than the old one, they went over the additional framing and trim changes with me before proceeding. The door was installed and operates as well as looks great.
Steve and his crew were very courteous, professional and skilled. They we very neat; protecting the floor, removing all debris and sweeping up the work area both inside the house and on the deck.
I would recommend using Abma Home Improvements for both large and not so large projects.          
   

The work of Steve and his crew was excellent in all respects.  I asked for a highly specific and complicated custom garage door that basically made the garage door look like a regular entry door with an adjacent window, so that my house would fit my local building code which requires a garage but still get a new finished front entry plus a new window.  The design he came up with was perfect, and it was done on schedule and within budget.  In addition to being a terrific craftsman, Steve is very organized and is an excellent communicator.  I felt that the price was a bargain given the research and design work this job required.  This is the second project we've worked with Steve on and we wouldn't consider working with anybody else going forward. 

My 50-year-old house had settled significantly and I needed to have my downstairs family room completely redone, plus some work upstairs. The main beam of the house was replaced, the family room framed and drywalled, and a new header was installed in the kitchen area so I could remove a load-bearing wall. Steve and his crew did a great job with my house project. Everything was done properly and to my liking. He was responsive to my suggestions and his ideas were sound. He showed up on time, kept the place clean and tidy, and completed the work quickly. I did the electrical work for this project myself, and Steve gave me advice, arranged for the permit, and was patient with a few delays while I completed the work myself. I've had a lot of compliments on how great everything looks and I'm quite happy with my new space. I will definitely hire him again for any project that is too big for me to take on by myself.

It was so much easier than I expected. They cleaned up after each day.They came when they said they would and called frequently to keep us updated on progress. The work was done on time and after they finished the job they gave us time to look around and see if anything needed to be touched up or finished. Steve is an excellent project manager and we have recommended them to several of our friends.Steve also gave us some great advice on what we should do with problem areas and his suggestions worked out perfectly.

It was fine. They were very professional and reasonably priced. They were courteous. They came out and brought samples of windows and it was a good product that they brought. They made a good impression. They were comparable to anybody else to do the same work.

Steve is very professional-- he is detail-oriented and reliable about staying in touch and keeping the homeowner informed.  If you want a contractor who has competitive prices, and who will answer your questions clearly and promptly via email, you should get a quote from him.  We got quotes for this job from 4 people, all initially vetted through Angie's List, and Steve was far and away the most professional and prompt during the quoting process.  His quote was broken down in detail and easy to understand.  All of the people he brought in to do the job were very professional and pleasant.  He finished early, which was a nice plus.   

If you're looking for someone who is punctual, reliable and all-professional, go with Abma Construction. He is trustworthy, worked with the town on drawings, permits, etc. Communication is excellent. Would use him again without hesitation.

Steve explained alternatives to the foundation repair.  Even though I had not had any problems with leaks, etc, I felt the foundation should be in good condition, particularly since I plan to move in the next year.  The quote came quickly (September, 2013) and the repair was done in just a couple of days (Ken and his son) in October.  What a great job.  Efficient, professionalism, quality, service - all superior. 
I liked the way there was no push like some contractors do.  Steve is easy to talk to - he is such a professional.

They finished faster than expected and cleaned nicely after themselves and were all very nice.  I would happily work with them again?.they were early every day and put up with the kids running around on one of the days.

Abma Home Improvements did a great job in managing, coordinating and completing the project.  They followed up consistently with updates and managed the timeline to fit our needs.  The workmanship and final product exceeded our expectations.  We would absolutely recommend them and use them again.

I recommend him to everyone. He is on time and gets the work done. I've been using him for the last 5 years. He's very professional and does good quality work.

I have an ongoing relationship with them. Whenever I need anything done at my house, I call them. The job went very well. I never have any complaints about them at all. I wouldn't consider anyone else at this point. The workers are excellent. They do excellent work. I trust them implicitly. I leave my key with them. I don't have any fear of anything being disturbed in my house. The foundation work was an excellent job, too. People tell me that he's expensive, but it doesn't matter to me, because I would pay him no matter what his price was.

He was very easy to work with, is very responsible, and the work was done very well. He is approachable, flexible, and honest! You can find someone to do the work cheaper, but not to have the job done this well.
