Man Around The House is a licensed, full service home improvement company with 3 Divisions offering everything from PROFESSIONAL PAINTING SERVICES, to HANDYMAN SERVICES, to full RENOVATIONS & REMODELS. All employees are full time and fully ensured. Each employee has a specialty trade (everything from roofing, masonry, sheetrocking, professional painting to carpentry).

Very disappointed to have to write this review, because when the team has done work, it's been excellent. Also, Jon and Terry are both very nice. However, getting in touch with them and scheduling a time to get them to come and perform work has been impossible. We got our windows replaced June of 2017, and I called them in August of 2017 to get a quote for painting our outdoor trim, patching some holes in our garage and re-laying/cleaning the floorboards in our attic. Terry came by, looked and I never heard back. Took me two months to get in touch with Jon, who said Terry can't give quotes, so he came out. I still don't have a quote, and have followed up multiple times over email and the phone, leaving voicemails that go un-returned. We still don't have a quote or a work plan. Very disappointed, but we're going to have to take our business elsewhere.

Prompt response to our service request and quote Once we contacted Man Around The House that we decided to move forward, a time frame was quickly set up for each of the projects. Only one issue arose, and that was caused by us: We provided the paint and chose the finish as well. All our walls are eggshell, but due to the dark color and texture of our walls we found the eggshell finish to be too shiny. Man Around The House managed to adjust their schedule to repaint our master bedroom while maintaining previous commitments.

In the beginning, the owner was very nice , polished and charming. That was the best part of the whole project.
The tile guy cut the tile wrong. Then put down the black marble border tile crooked. And when I asked that it be corrected, the crew did it very reluctantly as if I was a real pain.The owner said he thought the border was fine. But finally did fix it.
A painter painted a bathroom ceiling upstairs and the next day the paint was peeling off.
I made it clear that the pipes beneath the wall-hung sink should be chrome. But when the plumber came to put in the sink, the drain was half rubber, half chrome. It did not look good at all. When I complained about that, again, I was treated rudely.
The owners stopped returning my phone calls. I had to repeatedly call and send emails to get them to finish the work.
I would never use Man Around the House again. Nor would I recommend them to anyone. I have used another contractor for a bigger bathroom upstairs and was very pleased with the work. The crew was professional. The contractor was always there to make sure things were done well. That was impressive. This powder room was a very small job and I should not have encountered any problems with it at all.

Couldn't have been better!
It appears they have specialists on call for various job as one stripped the paper/repaired/primed the wall and another did the wallpapering.
All involved were very professional and their work was superb.
Might the price (which also included hanging a large, decorative mirror on a plaster wall--I'm not handy, so doing that sort of thing is not my cup of tea--and some minor repairs to a storm door) been a little steep? Possibly, which is why I gave them a and quot;Band quot; on price. But the promptness, courtesy, professionalism and quality of work seems to have justified the cost.

Man Around the House didn't charge my mother a lot to do the work. They weren't very expensive at all, they were very reasonable. They gave her a senior citizen's discount. I didn't dislike anything about them. When they came out we had no problems with them. They were wonderful They were very accommodating, very neat, they never left any mess or anything. They did a beautiful job on the replacement shades. But that was back a year ago.

I get a list of things for which I can't call the usual contractor. I don't think they fired their mason because they didn't like the way he worked. They have a show on the DIY network called Brothers On Call. My daughter recently moved to the area to a very tiny 1940's house with its original kitchen. They gutted it and put in a brand new kitchen; it's beautiful. I felt very comfortable with the people that they have working for them. I feel comfortable to leave my home and leave them alone. I would like to follow some guys all through the house but with these guys I could fall asleep on the couch and know that everything would be fine. The work was excellent. They get busy because there are a lot people in this town counting on them to do all their seasonal work. They have a list going all ready and I have got to sneak myself in there.

I hunted all over for two years for ANYONE in NJ who knows how to repair these windows...repairing sashes on these types of vintage windows seems to be nearly a lost art. Finally found these guys and they did a great job - professional, fast and thorough!

It's a very good local company that I've used many times. They do basic handyman service, could be like anything. It's a family owned business, its two brothers who run it. They are responsible, very responsive, they do a great job and they don’t charge too much. I like giving business to local businesses and they are actually a Ridgewood based company which is very good. Their punctuality is okay. They sometimes show up a little bit late. I would use them again in the future.

Jonathan came to provide us an estimate to remove a 1950s era toilet and install one we purchased promptly - 2 days before Move In Date! He also spent time with my husband reviewing other projects we are lining up to have done, suggesting where we could save $ vs doing temporary installations. All in all, fantastic - his staff - Mike, I think? - came in on time, was self sufficient, very clean, completed the job meticulously and perfectly. The toilet looks like it was always there, caulking is smooth and perfect. He spent at least 3-4 hours on the job so while feeling at first that the quote was expensive, we are very happy with the results. Thank you Man Around the House!

Terry was always very good in past years but now he is extremely un-resposnve to requests for appointments. Messages are not answered after many days. These are not complaints but attempts to have him do new work. I can only assume he is far too busy to attend to smaller jobs any longer. Sorry to lose a good resource, but I refuse to chase someone.

THE QUALITY OF THE WORK WAS GREAT. THEY WERE A LITTLE SLOWER THEN THEY SAID, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. WE ARE HAPPY WITH THE NEW ROOM. THEIR PRICE WAS FAIR.

"You have the wrong company. We are based out of Bergen County and dont work in Hoboken. Nor have we ever worked in Hoboken. I believe there is another guy that works under the name MATH down there but it's not us."
