A leaking building pipe four floors above our condominium caused water damage to both our bedroom and bathroom, as they share a common wall.  The main affected areas were a bathroom wall (which held the medicine cabinet, the vanity and sink) and a small area of the bedroom ceiling.  My wife were not just concerned with the actual repair, but had serious concerns regarding the presence of mold behind the wall, as this water leak had been an on/off problem in this building for years.
We first reported the claim to our insurance company in the Fall of 2011, and were going to go with the insurance company's recommended contractor - only to find that they were too busy due to Hurricane Irene repairs.  Coupled with the coming holidays, we held off the repairs till 2012 - which proved to be a good choice.  Without having any experience in these matters and forced to find our own contractor, I promptly joined Angie's List and viewed multiple profiles, ultimately calling Service Team of Professionals of North Jersey.
My wife called Dennis Chinea of Service Team of Professionals to schedule a visit to our condo.  Dennis was polite on the phone, later called to confirm our appointment, and was very prompt and professional.  Upon viewing the damage, Dennis was able to give his opinion as to what was needed, as well as answer our questions and give options.  He took measurements and, within the time he told us, emailed to me an extremely detailed estimate of work to be done.  The estimate was very thorough, and was relatively consistent with what our insurance agency was paying back to us.  Dennis was also sensitive to the fact that we wanted to stay close to the monetary confines of our insurance claim payment.  (Originally, our insurance claim did not pay for mold remediation, but that was later changed...thanks to S.T.O.P.)  Over the next couple of days, I was able to ask questions to Dennis regarding the estimate via email, which made it easier to agree upon a revised estimate.  We then met to give a deposit, sign the clear and concise contract (of course, outlining the agreed-upon price and the duration of the work) and agree upon the start date.
Juan and Angel arrived on the start date on-time, in a S.T.O.P. truck, and wearing S.T.O.P. shirts.  The two men were extremely polite, respectful of our space and personal belongings, and professional in every way.  They meticulously set up the floor protection, air scrubber, and wall/ceiling tarps to minimize dust accumulation.  They were also polite to me during the demolition of the affected areas, as I was curious and inquisitive.  Additionally, I asked the men to notify me of any mold that was found, so I could photograph the areas to send to my insurance adjustor.  Angel and Juan promptly got me upon finding mold behind the walls and pointed out areas that my untrained eye would have overlooked.  The photographs I took and later sent to my insurance company ultimately increased the claim paid to us.
Through the next couple of days of work, Dennis was very responsive via email (and phone, when necessary) - even down to some details that I may have been nitpicking.  He emailed me photos of the choices of bathroom vanities and fixtures and updated me of the progress (we were staying at a relative's place during the work).  Even when I returned to our condo over the weekend (midway through the repairs), the areas were kept relatively clean and isolated from the non-work areas.  By the end of the repair, the mold was remediated, our bathroom wall was repaired, a new vanity and medicine cabinet were installed, the bathroom painted, the common bedroom wall repaired, the small affected area of the bedroom popcorn ceiling redone (excellent job!), and entire bedroom repainted.  After the work was completed to our satisfaction, Dennis called to check up on us to make sure we were happy.
As this was my first experience with dealing with home repairs, I hoped for the best, but prepared for the worst...but thanks to Service Team of Professionals of North Jersey, this was a great experience!  My wife and I are very impressed with their work and attention to detail.  I can not say enough about the professionalism of all of the members of S.T.O.P., and would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody!  If Angie's List allowed it, I would give Service Team of Professionals of North Jersey an A+!

The weather event of 8/28/11 left my refinished basement looking like the Jersey shore.  After speaking to Dennis Chinea, owner of STOP, I felt more at ease.  Dennis immediately came out to personally view the job.  With his knowledge and expertise he explained the damage.  In a few days, his project major Juan was there with a team to remediate and clean up the damage.  But, my story doesn't end there... I was told that I needed a new drainage system so the same type of damage wouldn't occur again.  Dennis, Juan, and all the people who work for STOP of NJ were now all working to help me resolve what surely could have been a nightmare!  All of the damage was remediated perfectly and I was left smiling!  So few are the times when you are in need that you are treated with such professionalism and care.  It would be remiss of me to not acknowledge the AMAZING EXPERIENCE that surely could have been a disaster.  My recommendation to all is that when your basement looks like the Jersey shore to call STOP and ask for Dennis.

First, STOP was very responsive and at our home with two day of contacting them.  STOP?s team was on the job and did not stop working except for lunch and water breaks.  The job was a horrible and disgusting mess. Everything touched by the water was muddied, wet and the surface areas stood the chance of further destruction from mold and mildew. Everything in the ground level floor up to six feet had to be removed from home.  STOP helped us set up a system of  separating what goes to the dumpster, what gets put on the side for cleaning, what is separated for documentation for insurance, etc.  All through the ordeal, there was money found, valuables, and personal pictures that were immediately brought to myself or my wife.  We were overwhelmed; STOP was there to help us deal with this disaster.  I could go on, and on, but in a nutshell, we were very lucky to have them complete the job within five days from starting the clean up process to the removal of the drying machinery and finishing with the water sealing.  

In closing, the STOP team of management was very  professional and understanding during a very difficult time. We worked with them on a payment schedule becuase it took so long to finally receive our insurance checks.  We were proactive in keeping them abreast of the insurane payments and everything worked out nicely.

From the start we were very impressed with STOP.  This was a very stressful process for my family and they made it much better.  Stop always showed up when they said they would and did what they said they would do.  I liked that they explained what the process would be in detail - from when the money would arrive to when they would be done.  The technicians and all the people we dealt with were professional, courteous, and very attentive to our needs.  Everything came out great!!  I would highly recommend using this company because I was very pleased overall by the whole experience.
